And that works for them because us idiots still lining up to buy them. EDIT - I’m revisiting this comment, having studied the 1GD in my own ‘21. The updated (2020) 1GD uses a bigger turbo and a water to air intercooler, as opposed to the air to air on the older 1GD. My 1GD (from TTTL) has an air to air IC so it seems the rep was right, this is the old engine, despite the local sales brochure saying otherwise. So premium price for old tech, a Toyota specialty. Not everyone is going to keep their vehicle for 10+ years, so take your reliability high horse somewhere else. There really is NO reason to buy the new Hilux as it truly offers nothing over the outgoing model. Even less reason to buy this fully loaded model over the mid spec, at the prices the firm and others are charging. There is only overpriced and outdated tech here. If you want something that you can actually enjoy driving out of the box without modding, look elsewhere. I won’t be going back to Toyota for my next pick up, that’s for damn sure.
About to purchase the 2022 model as my first pickup. Surprisingly they actually reverted to the 8inch proper deck that is found on the international models. And the reverse camera is actually there, lol. Not sure if this batch finally comes with the 201hp engine or not. Seeing that the local model is manufactured in the same thailand factory as the REVO models, and seeing that toyota eventually provides the updated engine a year or so later from the initial release, fingers crossed.

That is rel nonsense... fumbling around when asked about HP and giving some bogus excuse for the engine remaining the same... look at the deck offered on this “top end” spec Hilux... went and look at this showroom model and it didn’t have a reverse camera.... oh they have to install the reverse camera as the “top end” spec not coming with it ??? What nonsense! Advertise as is- y’all create Trinidad’s version of Top end Hilux by mixing and matching from the engine to the deck and audio system and still manage to increase the price ??? Toyota Trinidad and Tobago never have the top specs models. So disappointing for a $370,000 fully loaded vehicle which comes without a factory installed reverse camera and downgraded deck unlike most other countries.
Total BS there was a recall in Australia because the hp which they claim it to have was false even the fuel efficiency in other words the new model they fix the shit they did lol so it's just a facelift but the suspension different smh....so they remap the system but it's the same model steups.....
