Great choice. I recently bought the 2019 version and love it. Put on an Aeroklas canopy and tub liner, then took it on the beach in the stock tyres (deflated of course) and it didn't miss a beat, even in the soft stuff. Glad they put in Apple car play/Android Auto in the 2020, but it's not wireless unlike the competitors. The power in the 2019 whilst not quite as much as your 2020 is still pretty sweet, especially compared to my 20 year old Prado which it replaced. Enjoy. Looking forward to the mods update as I too am looking at how to improve what I currently have without breaking the bank account needlessly for general touring and some moderate off-road.

Hey Ronny, I’d love to see basic set ups for weekend camping / small trip’s and necessary mods like you said that can be justified not just because you can.
You’re 100% right. Many other reviewers continually bash the Hilux whilst having nothing bad to say about competitors. Like those other reviewers purposely bash the Hilux to steer people into buying other brands. Loved this video and your series. 👍🏼
Toyota needs to develop a v6 diesel for a higher performance option to Hiluxes and Forutners, or entry-level Land Cruisers as the petrol v6 is offered.
That will not happen with Toyota, they will only make cars they think you would want, not a car you really want, the Hilux to me is the most over rated 4WD on the market.
@@Renegade040 definately, mass bought to be a work vehicle, only reason sales are so high, bet you less then 1/10 hiluxs get bought to be used for decent offroading.
Mate I would love to see a series where you really put this vehicle through its paces in stock form. I feel like we are all influenced by manafacutes promotion of products. I know I drove my vehicle for about 18 months with nothing but ATS and had a blast. Like push this thing until you find what parts are letting you down off road upgrade then go again. Even if you made a series of work and play aimed at basic kit outs to suit weekend trips but not inhibit the ability to say pick up the kids or use for tradey tools.
Welcome back to the hilux club Ronnie. Awesome to see as someone who bought a new hilux in 2017 and added modifications before I even picked it up.... after 3 years.... do not get a hard lid it massively restricts what you can put into the back tub AND it's a royal pain having to climb in when stuff slides all the way to the back (my boss made that mistake and ended up getting rid of the hard lid and now has an ARB canopy), I still have the tonneau cover but want to change the tub for a custom aluminium tray & removable 1/2 canopy. Toyota plastic tub liner is ok, not great but it's ok for protecting the tub inside, there are better tub liners out there. a MUST get for the hilux... tub tie down points, bonnet gas struts and tail gate gas struts... with an extremely heavy bonnet & tail gate... these should come standard on the SR5 but don't. Out of curiosity... does your hilux come with AC vents in the rear of the center console? and do the rear seats lift up with extra storage underneath?
Uhhhh I Love the plans for the Hilux....... It's great that you are going to orient all the modifications for the regular people that own a 4WD....... Can't wait for the videos.... Greetings from Argentina.... we also are in love of the Hilux... most sold UTE in the Country.....
Congrats mate. This is the most sold 4x4 in Pakistan too. Love for lux is impeccable. I would love to see stock Lux against Jimny. Since i own an older version if it SJ410. And im making a budget 4x4 since covid left me unemployed.
Congrats with the new car Ronny. To be honest, i would like to see something more related to the reality, not like when you have a never ending gold mine and you can buy everything. So you've bought the new vehicle, great! Now justify every purchase. Not from the prospective "because I can", but rather "why do I need to spend money on it?". For example, you don't like the stock wheels and tyres. Ok, show us these places where they fail and then replace them. Show that you really needed to go over something rugged because you needed, not because you wanted to go over ruts having a normal route just next to it. I have my 2010 hilux on highway tyres. I went everywhere, on beaches, on rocks, sand, mud and i never got bogged on this car. But i simply won't go to a deep shithole just because i want to test my car. No. There has to be a reason why I need to go there.
Some people don't take the chicken track every chance they get. Time to toughen up mate. If you havnt got bogged in your 4x4 then you havnt gone hard enough.
I run 265 60 R18 Hankook Dyna pros. Plenty of meat on the sidewall and ride nice around the 15psi mark on sand, 20psi around the tracks. Low noise, good grip and affordable.
Hey Ronny, amazing video! Glad you like the new Hilux. From all the hard work and amount of content you've put out over the years, it's great to see that you have rewarded yourself with a smart investment that will benefit you and your channel for years to come. Hope you enjoy it and teach us all new things about IFS vehicles!
Hey, first of all congrats on a new truck. As for the content - this is the perfect chance to make a comparison video of stock vs modified, but with a difference. Why not find a reasonably difficult track, that would be almost on the limits of what a stock Hilux can manage, to use it (track) as a "controlled" one - drive the car stock. And then repeat the drive after each new modification just to see what mod actually makes what difference to performance?..
I bought a used but pretty new Toyota Tacoma on a Thursday and on Saturday I almost got stuck in some mud. I sunk it to the Frame rails so I put it in second law in Florida and it got me out. I love what you do to me Toyota
Firstly catch can and secondary Fuel Manager fuel filter (Before factory). Bullbar side rails, larger 3inch s/s exhaust with full Torqit chip & tune package. New black 16 or 17 inch steel rims, Mickey Thompson MTZ or ATZ tires, 2 inch lift upgraded upper control arms springs and shocks, Upgraded disks and brake pads, upgraded intercooler and S/S airbox with K&N filter, Safari snorkel, Remove factory tub and replace with Alum PCOR or Norweld tray plus dogbox. 9500lb winch, Front locking diff, MaxTracks, Snatch straps, Seat covers, lightbars etc ...... Most importantly a lot of sucking up to sponsors to get all this for free !!!! Or at least for 1/2 price!! In order to achieve several months of content for RUclips.
I just want to see you get out there and show us step by step on what you find you need to upgrade. I would love to see it stay stock and drive rings around heavly moded rigs!
Congrats mate! However that "please obey all traffic laws" is horrendous, i bet turning it off voids warranty too. God i hate new cars with all their crap. I had to rip out all the beeping shit in my SV6, it's more distracting than helpful!
Pretty much why I bought the colorado zr2 with the 2.8 duramax. Unfortunately its not a Toyota, but its a nice little rig and the fuel economy is awesome. It gets 25 mpgs without trying and the other gm/chevy mid sizers can easily get 30, so I'd say thats pretty good. A litte tune and/or delete could get me to 30 as well. Beats the v6 gasser by a long shot!
Jesus my friend, I am sitting here, sipping beer on the other side of the world, in a cold Poland (Europe), half of the clip and I know that I am buying this car 100% (i was thinking to do so, to make it over for expeditions with my family) but I already know I must have it, thanks! Great channel
Pick a sand hill (Wylbunga?), a rutted track (Powerline?), a gravel road (any) and a trip down south on the Highway. Record and log them for noise fuel consumption etc. Then tyres to reasonable size AT, do each test again. Then weekend camping fit out test again. I am interested in that point where you go from a comfortable economical all rounder to a 4WD thirsty noisey tourer.
apsilonblue, but the good thing is as well, they are absolutely water and dust proof on the inside and you could still fit a decent fridge setup, but for larger loads yeah your probably right

Dmax is being ruined by Isuzu, theyre trying too hard to push it in the market. All them presenters, carguides reviews etc all being paid by Isuzu. Its a good car but give it a rest already.
@@06hunter54 Though i totaly agree with you on the paid review part, but i still think the DMax still has git some life left in it.... though it can never be immortal like the LC or a Patrol, still it does punch above its weight..... earlier DMax were old school type, with less sensors and comps on board..... making it a reliable machine that can be taken to remote places..... but market trends pushing it the other way..... also, ridewise, the steering feedback is the weak point of Isuzu....
Hi Ronny, Congratulations !! Its marvelous. We have a persian proverb in Iran, says : “I hope the wheels run a long time for you.” Waiting to see more from your new offroader. Amir
You should find a 4x4 track close to home the has a bit of everything that you can use as a benchmark. Every time you do a mod you should take it back to the track and show how it was better or worse. It's should be a pretty tough track that has sections that should stop most standard 4x4s. Let's see the limits of what this car can do grow.
Same thing were said when the DPF force regeneration switch introduced back in mid 2018. Fast forward 2 years later, August 2020, only time will tell if the redesign of the DPF fifth sensor and software calibration would be sufficient enough to fully remedy the issue. Holding off from buying a Prado because of this.

I honestly thought you'd get something different and interesting. Like you say Ronnie, all those other Utes are good vehicles, you could have broken the mold with this one. I guess I'm not surprised.
Yep he summed it up went with the numbers... like a heard of sheep to follow,
Just another duel cab
What else is there mate a iveco who can afford that
Lots others, he named some of them.
Stuart Karlson all I was reiterating is he went for the highest selling Ute on the market, with that comes the biggest possible following of new subscribers. Good on him smart
Man, congratulations for your new Toyota Hilux. I have an Toyota Hilux Cargo 2014 and I am very satisfied
Picking up an Fj in Texas and stumbled on to your old video interviewing somebody with an Fj. I’ve been enjoying your content, it’s entertaining, straight forward and informative. I’m looking forward to catching up on your journey with your new truck! Keep it up duder!
Hey Ronny,
I’d love to see basic set ups for weekend camping / small trip’s and necessary mods like you said that can be justified not just because you can.
I was thinking a kangaroo with a saddle, clearly I was wrong.

Hi Ronny, just mount better tires and do a trip.
Pretty much that is what he is going to do for the first 3 months
Definitely agree with this
Totally agree. 100%
Totally agree
Yep, just change the tyres and go. Maybe just up the profile for a bit more rubber.
You’re 100% right. Many other reviewers continually bash the Hilux whilst having nothing bad to say about competitors. Like those other reviewers purposely bash the Hilux to steer people into buying other brands.
Loved this video and your series. 👍🏼
Congratulations. May this addition to your family finds you new adventures and lots of happiness.
The 4 cylinder is already making more power than the TTV8. Why is a V6 needed?
@@Renegade040 definately, mass bought to be a work vehicle, only reason sales are so high, bet you less then 1/10 hiluxs get bought to be used for decent offroading.

Congratulations my man. I want to get one of these in the Philippines so I'm looking forward to the review.
Awesome to see
as someone who bought a new hilux in 2017 and added modifications before I even picked it up.... after 3 years.... do not get a hard lid it massively restricts what you can put into the back tub AND it's a royal pain having to climb in when stuff slides all the way to the back (my boss made that mistake and ended up getting rid of the hard lid and now has an ARB canopy), I still have the tonneau cover but want to change the tub for a custom aluminium tray & removable 1/2 canopy.
Your reaction to "Please obey all traffic regulations" had me laughing 😁
Congrats mate. This is the most sold 4x4 in Pakistan too. Love for lux is impeccable.
I would love to see stock Lux against Jimny. Since i own an older version if it SJ410. And im making a budget 4x4 since covid left me unemployed.
You can fit 16” dynamic steely rims on them with a certain offset
I had Mickey Thompson Sidebiters in 16s on our SR5
Probably void any insurance

“Please obey all traffic regulations”
Hey, first of all congrats on a new truck. As for the content - this is the perfect chance to make a comparison video of stock vs modified, but with a difference. Why not find a reasonably difficult track, that would be almost on the limits of what a stock Hilux can manage, to use it (track) as a "controlled" one - drive the car stock. And then repeat the drive after each new modification just to see what mod actually makes what difference to performance?..
That’s a cool idea only thing that worries me are the pristine panels 😆
"BALLOON PAYMENT" for the number plate would help contribute to audience appeal 😆. Car looks mad though.
It won't be running rings around much at all with approach, ramp over and departure angles of a toyota camry.
You lost me at “gets up and moves” and “luxurious”. 🤪🤦🏻♂️
Looking forward to the build and the adventures it brings, congrats.
Is it that slow? Lol
Damn you go jacked they sold you a car with the steering wheel on the wrong side. Take that quality control gone bad back.

Congrats mate! However that "please obey all traffic laws" is horrendous, i bet turning it off voids warranty too. God i hate new cars with all their crap.
I had to rip out all the beeping shit in my SV6, it's more distracting than helpful!
You can turn it off in the menu. All new Toyota’s have that annoying “feature”
@@henrya1051 That's good to hear. Still shouldn't even exist in the first place, same with my cars beeping crap.
would love to have that diesel in our Tacomas here in the US. Great truck.
Ute. It's a utility vehicle. A truck is a big thing that has 16-30 wheels and is about 10 times the size of a Ute.
"Oh what a feeling!" Toyota. Haven't seen that for years! @0:09
Congrats!
Wish they sell Hilux in the States.
But you guys get the Tacoma!
I wish it was possible to see this and a Tacoma side by side.
I prefer the Tacoma look but not in the UK unfortunately. Then again we don't need trucks too often lol
Go with the hard lid. I’ve got the same hilux and I’ve put a hard lid. And go with BFGoodrich A/T
Hard lids are a PITA when you want to carry something large. They look better and are slightly more secure but they're nowhere near as practical.
apsilonblue, but the good thing is as well, they are absolutely water and dust proof on the inside and you could still fit a decent fridge setup, but for larger loads yeah your probably right
Awesome choice great to see someone doing a normal car people buy! I have a Ranger but keen to see what you do to the new Lux. You going to keep the tub?
Tub is staying for the foreseeable future 👍
Florida man USA! Have fun with it! Get it stuck! Then go all in in ! I have basic 100 series toyota with Old Man Emu 2 inch lift ! It's not serious off road but a lot of fun! Like your channel keep up the fun content!
Ronny, you made the best choice that is perfect !

Jbog07 that’s true I own one
I genuinely thaught this time you might go for the new Isuzu D-Max or the Ford Ranger.... 🙄🙄
But nevertheless, i am happy for you, mate!! Happy miles on your new ride...... 🍾🍾🍾
Nice truck but I hope you don’t overdo the mod’s as most Australians do and end up with a ridiculous heavy vehicle.
Hi Ronny,
Congratulations !! Its marvelous.
We have a persian proverb in Iran, says :
“I hope the wheels run a long time for you.”
Waiting to see more from your new offroader.
Must be weird owning a vehicle with a working handbrake!
Don't be silly, it's still a Toyota.
For now
Um the hilux hand brake is terrible lol
Working for now because its new, not working later because its a Toyota.
Or have they fixed that on newer models?
Damn what are you guys doing with the handbrakes that’s you have to seriously comment on. I own a hilux and would love to know this issue.
I got a new toyota the thing beeps at me so often and wont shut up im about to drive it through toyotas front window

Yessssss
Hilux are in my blood bro they never let you down m8
Be interested in seeing how the 18's would fare with better tyres.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the dpf issues Toyota’s been having?
Dpf issues have been resolved in these new models.
Issues are now fixed , got my 2017 model ones replaced no problems at all now , but yeah shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
Been fixed for some time now.
I actually thought you were going for a 200 series.
it could have been the most glorious mall crawler ever..
