@Khalil Christian Thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I'm a guitarist in the market for a solid P bass that isn't too expensive. I visited a guitarcenter today to try out some and I completely agree with what you said about them. The CV 60's blew the other ones out of the water. Amazing build quality and tone for $500 USD.
I was going to pick up a CV60s P Bass at some point man and your video has just sold it to me! Really brilliant breakdown of them, also get well soon pal!
Joe Coombs amazing news! It kills for the price - you cannot go wrong! Thanks for watching brother and the well wishes, I’m feeling 95%, thankfully I only got it lightly! Stay safe my man 🙏🏻
Recently bought a CV Jaguar medium scale based on your videos. Thanks. After setting it up over the week, I'm able to get action down to 2mm at the 12th fret on all strings....smooth and responsive up and down the neck. The only thing I don't like is that the tone knobs are not very responsive on any of the pickups; the changes are very subtle. Still, I love this bass! [Update: had ground hum, so opened up the bridge and pot panel. There were some bad solder joints, so patched all up. Tone knobs work now, hum is gone. Solder person was in a hurry the day mine was built. All is great now!]
Amazing news! The bronco is really such a playable little beast, just a fun bass to have around and so much more! Thank you for the support and kind words! T
Sorry to hear about you being ill, and hope you are less sick than I was with C19. Thanks for the reviews, pity I'm stuck with just the Mustang out of your reviews. Even the medium scale is out of my reach as I have short stubby arms and have thus decided that short scale is just a constraint I'm living with. I'm most likely to pick up the Squier Bass VI and the Marcus Miller short scale PJ. Apart from a hollow body of some sort (apart from my Höfner), that will cover my needs.
Thank you! I definitely had it light, and I’m sorry to hear you had it badly! Those Squier VI basses are definitely a cool option to have around! I haven’t checked out the Marcus Miller short scales, I must take a look. Höfners are definitely fun basses to have around too! Make sure the bass is nice and tight in to your body too, as that can give you extra bit of reach. There’s a lot of fun to be had with short scales and you’re not “missing out” except for when it comes to choice. T
I’m really excited for you to try out the new Squier Paranormal Jazz Bass. It might be the best in the entire lineup right now. The finish is superb, the pickups growl, and it has a super unique VT VT stack knobs set-up. An easy match even for my Road Worn and Am Pro basses.
@@TylerSpicer Yes, I got one and it is really a nice bass. The build quality was excellent- just a small bit of fret sprout that I had taken care of under warranty. No regrets on that purchase.
Hope you're doing well, Tyler! Agree with the Jag 32 inch being in the great category, it's probably the most versatile bass in my rack at the moment. Perhaps the quality control is inconsistent at the factory, because my CV 70s Precision is a lovely feeling and sounding bass! I have small hands, so the super slim neck suits my playing. Thanks for the video!
Doing well thank you! Love that Jag, I’m a really sucker for it! The QC definitely varies unfortunately, but for many the 70s is definitely gonna feel more comfortable, just doesn’t quite feel right in my hands. Thank you for continually supporting the channel! T
I got a CV60's back in April and am totally in love with it. At first i thought the neck was far too thick and really uncomfy, but am totally used to it now. And that tone! Fuckin hell!!! Glad you're on the mend Ty!
Amazing news! Thick necks are where it’s at - so much tone comes from the neck in my experience. If you want a big bassy tone without a load of EQ, that’s the only way imo! Thank you, I got it very lightly compared to some of the things you see on the news, for which I’m very thankful 🙏🏻 T
Best wishes for a prompt recovery Tyler! Cheers for this, very useful comparison. I just got a Squier Mini Precision and I'm really impressed by the overall quality. Maybe you'll review it soon?

Hey Tyler, get better, I love your videos and you need to get better because you havent reviewed the 2020 Squier CV Jazz Fretless yet. Get better soon.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’ll see what I can do on the CV Fretless front! Definitely on the mend and your support is massively appreciated. T
got a white squier contemporary jazz bass...the one with the ceramic humbuckers! amazing quality, and a very thick full tone...the best squier i have ever played...the 60 s classic vibe preci i also liked....the new squier are very good instruments in my opinion, much better than years ago...i think some are made in the cort factory in Indonesia...
TheCrusader1099 amazing stuff! I’ve never come across one but would love to give one a play. The classic 60s is a great bass too! You’re getting a very decent instrument for your money with these, no doubt! T
I’m better thankfully! Thank you for the support! I would take either the 60s P and make it a lot like my custom shop P, or the 32” Jaguar Bass, as I love the feel of it! T
I have a 70’s cv p bass that’s a few years old. Perhaps they build them differently at present as mine has a fairly chunky neck. The build quality on it is good, much better than the 2020 cv Mustang I had which I sold. I liked the tone of the 70s pbass stock but I changed the pickup out on a whim for a Duncan Steve Harris. The tone is now mid heavy and brighter especially with Ernie Ball Slinky Cobalt Flats on it. I also have one of the black Jaguars. I agree with you that the features are a notch above especially the stacked knobs which I much prefer. I love being able to run both pickups at full volume with the p tone all the way up and the jazz rolled off. Unfortunately I don’t like the neck profile. My thumb gets tired with skinnier necks. So I’m going to sell it.
I get the same thing with the skinny neck and the thumb. Totally would be surprised if your Squier 70s had a bigger neck, I feel like they are less specific with specs for Squier than the US and MIM stuff. Massive fan of the specs of the jag, most underrated Squier out there imo! T
Hope you're doing well man! I've got the CV 60s P bass. Replaced the scratchplate and the pickups for Fender original pickups. There was hardly a difference! Testimony to the great squier quality methinks 🙌 Going to pick up a Mustang ti review next!
Doing a lot better thank you! Nice stuff, such a sucker for the CV60s, definitely a king amongst the Squier stable imo! Look forward to your Mustang review! T
Loved this video Tyler, play a Squier Mustang myself as well as a hofner ignition, happy you think it's a good bass, would love your opinion of the ignition some time but thanks for posting and hope you recovered well mate👍👍
Hi! I love your channel! I wanna buy a bass but I don't know if I should take the classic vibe 60 or 70. I like rock and punk rock and I don't know which one I should take to do this genre. You convinced me to take the 60s even if I have small hands, but I wish you can reply to me to give me an advice because i want to play rock. Have a lovely day!!
@@TylerSpicer thank you so much for your reply! Honestly I think that I wanna try them in person and take the one that I like the most. Honestly I'm confused because I like a lot the sound of the 60s ahah but I don't know if it's good for rock. Even if I saw that the bassist of green day use a bass with a 59s pick up and I don't know what to choose ahah but thank you a lot for your advice!
Great review!!! I own a CV 60s and I love it. It has a meaty neck, 1.68, which is thicker than a modern precision at 1.625, but not quite as thick as a vintage 60s or custom shop which is gonna be 1.73. I love a thick neck, I do own a 70s jazz and the thin neck is not a profile a prefer(it sounds wonderful though). Squiers are great value; Ron Thorn- the principal master builder in the Fender Custom Shop lists his number one guitar as a squier stratocaster.
Love the CV 60s, just feels like a proper P to me! Squiers are definitely great value and you can find some gems - wood’s an inconsistent material after all! T
Tyler, i am a big Squier fan ! I ve got the affinity PJ you ranked last. I have the affinity Jazz too. PJ is very well made and sounds amazing. The Jazz on the other hand is pretty inconsistent and sounds weak. I can directly compare the J to the V.Modified 77 Jazz i had before it and they are not even close. Get Standards Vibes and Modified's guys. Affinity can easily be hit or miss. Just my 2 cents. Thank you Tyler, all the best : )
I really like the squier jaguar black look with the black blocks in the fretboard. ****Question **** At standard tuning, the strings feels woobly? Thats my only concern.
Thank you! Feeling almost great again already, just a little more smell at taste to come back and some more time isolating to make sure everyone else stays safe! T
Changed my mind tried a jaguar bass wasn’t keen at all, then a player series precision bass I liked this a lot, but picked up the squire precision bass fell in love soon as I played it the feel and sound knocked the others out, I’m no expert but I just knew this was right for me so brought the 50s precision 👍
Hey Susie! I’m a lot better thank you. That’s great news! The CV60s is a solid bass, and if you’re heart is set on its looks and what you’ve heard of it, then there’s no reason not to. You can definitely learn and grow as a player with that bass. Let me know if you need to know more! T
The lower the price, the more variability there is in terms of QC and tone. You might have to try 5 Affinities to find one good one. In general, the Chinese built CV’s from 8-10 years ago are better than the current Indonesian built ones. The body woods used in some instances were different than current models. There was no Nato being used back then. Many models had basswood bodies instead.
it's the best budget base on the market, i play one almost exclusively even though i have a £3000 Schecter and a £1800 American made MusicMan stingray. lol ...for £199 its an amazing bass
I have a squire p bass cv 70 with lindy fralin pickup and flatwound string (thomastik). I run it into a vt bass and I totally love it! 😍 The best part is that pbass with pu and vt were used, so bass + pedal + strings = all for ~500€ 🤣
@@TylerSpicer i have v2 so no di, but i also have a sonicake ir loader, so i can choose to use vt bass speaker emulation or another one and i have a di output
I have the 60’s and 70s CV precisions. My experience is the reverse of your own My 70s has a chunky neck, a better bridge and is acoustically super loud. It came second hand with a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder and a “reliced” (wrecked) body. My 60s has a less stable neck - it’s needed lots of adjustment. I’m thinking of swapping the bodies so I get an Olympic white p with maple and blocks Great roundup Thank you
rob_bassman I hope for everyone around the world that that’s what’s happening! 🙏🏻 If everyone had it with as little consequence as I do we’d all be a lot better off! T
Glad to see the Affinity here, thinking of getting one despite the "no from me" ranking because it comes in a really affordable starter pack with an amp and all. Classic Vibe is almost 50% dearer and no amp. A step up to aim for unless I manage to make some crazy man maths to justify spending that much on an instrument I never touched in my life.
I hope you’re doing ok man, and hope you feel better soon. Best wishes.
Thank you! I definitely got off lightly compared to others and am feeling a lot better a lot quicker than expected. Thank you again! T

I was thinking of getting walnut p squier but i ended up choosing the marcus miller p7
Thank you
ƏŁƏVƏŇ ŇMŇMƏX nice! What are your thought on it? I reckon you probably made a better choice with that one. T
@@TylerSpicer i was looking for something with versatility so yeah and i picked the marcus miller p7
Well, I’m getting a PJ Affinity Series Pack, I hope it’ll be featured
I dont think hes reviewed that one yet
it's the best budget base on the market, i play one almost exclusively even though i have a £3000 Schecter and a £1800 American made MusicMan stingray. lol ...for £199 its an amazing bass
Manga Mash'up Yeah and with the pack (Amp, Strap, Gig Bag and the instrument cable), it’s a great deal for just 255£
@@miroslavbartunek2846 100% its a great deal.
I have a squire p bass cv 70 with lindy fralin pickup and flatwound string (thomastik). I run it into a vt bass and I totally love it! 😍
The best part is that pbass with pu and vt were used, so bass + pedal + strings = all for ~500€ 🤣
That sounds killer! I have no doubt you’ve got a great bass there. Enjoy it into 2023, and thank you for watching! T
@@TylerSpicer i have v2 so no di, but i also have a sonicake ir loader, so i can choose to use vt bass speaker emulation or another one and i have a di output
Thanks!
Thanks for putting together this list, it's really useful. Hope you're doing okay.
Thank you! Happy to have helped! I’m feeling a lot better thank you!
Get well soon, mate
Thank you my man, much better now a week on! T
Harley Benton, same quality, half price...or for the price of a CV you can get a HB + upgrades and have a very instrument
George Vrachliotis I need to get hold of an HB! Only ever hear good things! T
At 80% ! I have many of both and HB need more refinement !
I have the 60’s and 70s CV precisions.
My experience is the reverse of your own
My 70s has a chunky neck, a better bridge and is acoustically super loud.
It came second hand with a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder and a “reliced” (wrecked) body.
My 60s has a less stable neck - it’s needed lots of adjustment.
I’m thinking of swapping the bodies so I get an Olympic white p with maple and blocks
Great roundup
Thank you
Get well 💕
Hope you get better mate
Thank you! Feeling better already - I’m very fortunate to have escaped lightly compared to many others.
Glad to hear buddy, must be getting more infectious and less deadly
rob_bassman I hope for everyone around the world that that’s what’s happening!
Get well hope you can play a lot while in isolation
Thank you! Definitely, and a load of time to make videos too! 😃 T
Hope you are doing okay...
🎸🎵💕
On the mend thank you! T
hope you're doing well with covid
Thank you! Feeling better - my last day of mandatory self-isolation is today! 💪🏻 T
Bro, i hope you get better
Thank you my man, definitely on the mend! T
