    I'm kind of glad Deku couldn't beat the slug monster. I can't explain it, but it would have been odd that a Jr. High kid could beat this large villain on his own, while like 6 or 7 Pro heroes could not. I think the slime incident was supposed to act as a reason for why Deku was given the power. It doesn’t matter how much someone lifts weights or has a 400 level IQ they aren’t going to outmatch a city buster or a mountain buster. But Deku’s lack of hesitation in saving Bakugo when he didn’t have a power is why All-Might gave him the power and why episode 4 hits so hard as Deku does the same motion but now he actually has the power to help people.

    I personally think Deku makes for a fine main character. A lot of people tend to look at that slime monster incident and think "Wow! All he did was make it worse, why would All Might pick this reckless loser over the bestest guy Mirio?" The answer is simple: Deku's reckless nature reminds All Might of his younger self. Having talked to him earlier and basically telling the kid he can never be hero, only to have that same kid act in a similar manner to him really sold him on the fact that Deku was special.
    People also like to say he's handed the most powerful quirk but rarely ever mention the drawback it comes with. Breaking his bones is a lot more serious than people think it is especially when it's stated that it causes lasting effects. Said effects are so serious that Deku is forced to switch up his fighting style in order to keep going. In addition to the physical demands, the weight of succeeding the best hero of all time is huge.
    One last thing. Miro is a fun character but would make for a pretty boring protagonist. His struggles are basically what people say Deku's is: to master his quirk. Mirio's just another generic shonen protag with the will to save anyone and work through anything but it rings hollow compared to someone who was born without a quirk.

    • @unknownredacted3513
      @unknownredacted3513 4 года назад +75

      I (personally) don't like Deku as a *character*
      To me, Deku's ideals never gets challenged neither by the world or his classmates. Sure he has physical struggles but in terms of his resolve, he hasn't really changed. He still had the same "I want to be a number #1 hero" resolve from S1 and I think that is why I don't particularly like Deku. Nothing in MHA says that his idea of "what being a hero is about" is impossible or that it is a really dumb goal. This isn't to say that Deku can't have this goal just that it isn't really challenged as much as I think it should which leads me to next point:Mirio
      I think Mirio as a *character* is honestly better than Deku hands down. Mirio gets actively punished both physically (losing his quirk) and mentally (knowing that he let Overhaul take Eri back into torture). Despite that, he still fights because he is "Lemiilon".
      It is that struggle that makes him a more interesting character
      With this in mind, I think your previous notion that Mirio wouldn't work as the MC may be true as Deku does do his job well as an MC. Just think it could be better

    I really don't see a major problem with mhas side cast being underdeveloped. I'm not going to say it's perfect but I think characters that are their just to fill out the class for the sake of the world is fine. Imo a character is only underutilized when the series starts to utilize them in the first place. So for example if kirashima proceeds to never do anything ever again after what he's gotten so far that would be a problem but someone like ojiro is fine just being their as class filler because he never gets major focus to begin with. Their just like any of the other random pro hero's that only shows up for like a scene.
    Also cultural festival is the best arc because it's the only arc with gentle aka best character.

    • @bigpoof3349
      @bigpoof3349 4 года назад +33

      I think that's where the case of underutilization splits. Most see underutilization of a character as giving a character a fair bit of potential, maybe some hype, or a cool design, and then doing little to nothing with the potential given. Say for example, if a character like Bakugo were to appear in Midoriya's backstory, still have his explosive quirk and fiery personality, but they refused to flesh out his character or give him any dedicated screentime or motivations

      The thing is- we get like, a bit of background i guess to each character, but then they never appear in anything more meaningful than fill in.
      Bakugou and Deku has friends but Ochako is essentially underdeveloped despite being a lead character. She was his first REAL friend since Bakugou ditched him but she's relegated to side. Then you have Tsuyu that is fill in after maybe her one role in the Raid. Iida was essentially a joke because he was gone for so long people "forgot".
      Thats ignoring Bakugou's friends. Like. We barely see their interactions outside of merchandise or light novels. They're important for his growth not just Deku but they disappeared. Like. They're there but its like they have no development outside the minor moments.
      Its actually to the point people kinda forget the other characters that aren't friends with the main cast in particular.
      Why make these characters get close and have them be a semi makeshift family that goes through hell and back but like, never let them interact with the MCs?

    I think a misconception people have about the series is that they expect a lot of the students in Class A to be important to the story and have their own in-depth character arcs. When that's further from the truth.
    Their main purpose is to mostly fill out the school setting, and the fact that there's a lot of them is emblematic of the oversatured Hero society. Less than half of them actually matter in the larger story. So don't go considering tape guy or animal boy as side characters, because they're mostly just background props.
    Actual side characters are the ones that get decent focus. People like Endeavor, Hawks, Mirio, Tamaki, Iida, Kirishima, etc.

    The thing about the slug monster fight is the fact the heroes were more focused on their own safety than they were on Bakugo. They were waiting for someone else with a quirk suitable to randomly show up and save the day. They were essentially acting like bystanders, not heroes. Deku meanwhile was the only one to have the courage to run forward to save his friend and if it wasn't for him throwing his bag as a distraction Bakugo would have suffocated. Okay, I’ve gotta say something here. Because I agree with most of your opinions, but the slime villain incident does show why Izuku is a hero. He does use his ingenuity and strategy to save Bakugou. He throws his book bag (after remembering the way that Kamui woods uses multiple branches to distract the target in the lacquer chain prison) and hits the villain in the eye (his one weak spot) and keeps Bakugou from being suffocated. No hero could do anything because they rely on their quirk (which Aizawa will point out later on is dangerous) while Izuku worked with what he had on hand. Also, by throwing the slime back to try and save Bakugou, Izuku worked on dispelling the slime to free Bakugou enough to pull him from the grip. The reality is, had Izuku not intervened, Bakugou would have died. Also, “you can be a hero without a quirk” is a great theme, but not MHA’s theme. Great other points though! Love the video!

    "Not all men are created equal."
    This is literally the first line of text in the entire manga. It is the core central theme in the entire series, and that ignoring this horrifying truth can only ever destroy the lives of people who try harder to achieve something than they are actually capable.
    This is the heart of the series, the realistic truth of real life placed within a fantasy world that you would expect to embrace the sort of fantastical optimism associated with it.
    Also, replace superpowers with education and connections and everything makes more sense, All Might saw that Midoriya had everything he needed to succeed except for a single element, and decided to provide that element to him.

      I think it would be more interesting if MHA acknowledged that stuff in a world where quirks also exist, rather than using powers as an allegory for social standing.
      How interesting would it be to see people from lower class backgrounds using their quirks to push back against a system that never gave them a chance? What does it mean to try and work in a job like physical labor when some people will be better at it simply by nature of their quirk.
      Rather than villains who exist for the sake of being antagonists, I think it would be far better social commentary to see how quirks affected this stuff in the world, kind of like what X-men does (sometimes). IK that's not really what the series is going for, but I think it would be more interesting and nuanced.

    • @ariadnemeo7360
      @ariadnemeo7360 2 года назад +3

      That's what really frustrate me about MHA. This is the CENTRAL THEME, but to me, instead of connections, money or social standing, the quirks are more like a limb (is something that you are born with that it entirely yours no matter what, is part of you), but some people are born without some limbs. You can give a prosthetic for someone who don't have an arm or leg, but not a real leg. And even if (when) the medicine evolve in the future and we finally can do a arm transplant or something, this will not be something cheap and/or easy to get. Everyone saying to Izuku that he can't be an hero without a quirk and then All Might giving his quirk to him is repeating that HE CAN'T LIVE HIS DREAM if he doesn't have this, and the quirk being an extra limb is like saying "you can't be a model if you don't have legs" or "you can't be a guitarrist if you don't have an arm". Yeah, is going to be incredibly hard, and difficult, and the world is going to be against you, but you CAN if you have the resources. It would be way more powerful if All Might used his influence and connections to make support items for Izuku be a hero, creating a literally quirk prosthetic, or if Izuku had a very dumb quirk, like changing his eye color, and then All Might pass his quirk to him. THEN I think the message of "no man is born equal" would be strong

    If izuku had beaten the slime monster at the beggining then people would have complained that he Is an already perfect protagonist like rey or kirito or even mulan in the live action remake, because at the end of the day a character needs to start from Zero if you want to see him developing over Time, even if you don't like at all the character. Like i know many people that preffer han solo over Luke skywalker, but it was an evil necessary if you want to see the story progress. Because Christ remember when han solo had His own movie? Yeah it sucked hard.

      I mean, beating the villain wouldn't be absolutely necessary to make the questions that early Deku had ingrained in his character a bit more interesting. I get why he was absolutely powerless at the beggining, it's a kinda neccessary thing to show his later progress. Hovewer, it would be nice if he used his wit more in that situation. Like, being aware that he isn't enough to defeat the sludge villain and save Bakugou, and trying to distract said villain to stall for time or give the heroes an opening to do their job. It would still fit Deku's reckless hero-doings, and with the whole teamwork theme of MHA.

    yeh the whole "izuku not becoming a quirkless hero' is a common complaint, but ehre's MY rebuttal:
    Izuku doesn't have special training, he's not a martial artist, he couldn't parkour for shit, he's basically as average as one can get. He's JUST a nerd and while, yes, his nerdiness leads to him being able to strategise more and analyse people and their quuirks, in the end he's still jsut a nerd. He doesn't have the money, resoruces and training as say Iron Man or Batman, nor the pure skill like say Iron Fist or something.
    What, exactly, is this one damn nerd supposed to DO? As cool as it would've been for him to rise as a hero, it honestly wasn't gonna happen, not a this current ability.
    and as for All Might choosing Izuku: honestly, it read to me like he was in a massive depressive state due to the state he was left in afteer his 'final' battle with all for one, and thus he wasn't in a charitable mood regarding heroes and such, and he chose Izuku not just for that self sacrificng nature, but also because...Izuku saved him. Izuku inspired All Might to toss aside his depressive thoughts and go back to thinking like the man he used to be, and so he saw Izuku as a hero. Because Izuku saved him.
    (also yeah the series really needs to give more characters bigger spotlight, like invisible girl, she's fun enough thus far, and momo, and ochako and basically all the girls.)

      @molassesmammal9957 4 года назад +17

      @@shadowwhowalk I don't think I can truly argue a point here with objectivity. The show doesn't really give us a reason for Deku's current physical stature but from my own subjective point of view it seems more like a selfdoubt issue. We know Deku idolizes heroes, studying their quirks and the techniques that they would implement around the quirks, kamui woods is a good example with how he internalizes how kamui uses his quirk as a crowd control device. I personally interperet this investment with quirks to be more of a mental block that could stop him from training because "what's the point if it may all be for nothing". He also is graduating from a Jr. High School in japan so that may also have some impact. Also Eraser Head's quirk allows him to be able to fight in a CQC environment because his quirk allows him to level the playing field of their physical abilities if they have a emitter quirk, stain follows similar logic with instead of the opponent being as physically strong as they should be without a quirk, they are instead paralyzed so the difficulty of the fight is lower overall. Without their quirks their MMA skills would be ineffective against someone like Muscular or All Might, it's too big of a power gap. It's a combination of knowing your quirk and how to use it, not necessarily one over the other.

    I really disagree in your assessment of Ochako. She has a clear motive for being a hero in the form of wanting to financially support her family. Despite admiring Deku she refuses his help when facing off against Bakugo because she wants to prove that she can challenge Bakugo on her own. After failing to defeat Bakugo she reflects on her failure and decides to turn down an internship with her idol to pursue one with a hero that would help her improve her hand to hand combat skills which she felt she was lacking in. Then she ends up successfully using those skills to defeat Toga showing that her sacrificing an internship with her favorite hero paid off because she is now a much more well rounded hero. I think she's a really well written character who is herself first and Deku's crush second. I feel she's a well developed and likable character with a real sense of agency. It always sort of annoys me when people treat her like the vanilla love interest when there is so much more going on with her character than that. When they actually say "hey lets make an episode about a character" they do it really well, but as soon as they leave that episode they go back to being boring. Like, byakuya had his whole little heart-to-heart with deku where they started getting along again, but now in the new season hes just gone back to being a prick
      I can remember uraraka having a good backstory back in season 2, but I still cant ignore the fact that basically every time shes been on screen since its mostly just been her looking at deku, going "boy hes working hard", and then someone says "do you have a crush" and she gets embarrassed. Theyve literally done that joke like 5 times and its so annoying that it made me dislike her
      Sure its hard to have an entire class of characters without reducing them to repeating gags and keeping each one's individual growth consistent even when theyre in the background is tough, but if assassination classroom can do it with a cast twice as large then this show should be able to do the same. Even if we barely got to know some of the kids in assassination classroom they still felt like part of the class and it still felt like they were growing and staying consistent and interesting. It never felt like any of them were just placeholders like it does with sugar rush, anivoice guy, octopus arm man, invisible girl, kaminari, or tail dude

      I'm not sure about that. All the spotlight is on Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki. Uraraka and Iida had some importance but they were thrown to the side in later seasons. There are also characters in the class that have literally basically done nothing. What's the point in them being there other than just placeholders? I forgot that Koda, Sato, or Ojiro even existed. Some characters are very 2d and are literally there for just one purpose. Mineta and Kaminari are just there for comic relief basically and Hagakure has basically no personality whatsoever, only saying some cutesy or unimportant comments here and there. I know it gets better in the manga, but the arcs in the 3rd and 4th season were disappointing and underwhelming to say the least.

    At the beginning when Midoriya ran towards the sludge villian he did in fact "do something".
    1st when he threw the bookbag the sludge villian stopped suffocating bakugo...therefore letting him breathe again.
    2nd All Might was wallowing in self doubt and wasn't going to do anything. Instead he inspired All Might (saving him from his self doubt) and because of that All Might saved Bakugo and beat the villian.
    Seems like he did alot. Just to the bystanders he didn't do anything because they didn't see the effects of what he did. It just appeared that All Might swooped in and saved the day yet again.

    i feel like most people have this same misconception--whenever they say "deku shouldn't have been chosen to have ofa"--they believe mha is an underdog story (not saying that he said this, just an observation)
    and you can argue that it is, but i don't feel like that was ever the primary focus
    most people tend to root for characters in those types of stories bc its an easy way to make them interesting,, which is why deku doesn't seem like an appealing mc since he doesn't try to become a quirkless hero (and gets a quirk given to him)
    but i think its important to realize the overall theme of the series to make sense as to why deku's the best mc for mha (and by extension, you can also explain why shigaraki's an amazing villain)
    mha's main purpose is to show the effects of society on its characters.
    someone's value in their society is based upon their quirk, its who they are, what defines them, and determines their path in life -- moreover, hero society itself has only strengthened this way of thinking in their world which then leads to the creation of villains, who were outcasted by society
    (there's so much more to be said about society and its role in mha, which will be focused on more in upcoming seasons (or currently in the manga) )
    but its important to note that deku is a perfect example of someone directly affected by society (and likely the best person to make a change in it, driven by his determination to save everyone)

    But also, we are likely to see Stain again in the future arc, the way I see it he was being saved for later so that All For One could be established and then sent to the same prison as Stain, for the purposes of having their ideologies interact in the future as a way of furthering the narrative substance of both characters simultaneously.

    I would argue that if Izuku beat the sludge villain with his knowledge and intelligence, he wouldn’t really be worth being the main character of a superhero series. Let me explain.
    Due to the fact that in stories, knowledge/intelligence are the same as super powers, it would mean that Izuku would have a power by being smarter than anyone else. Which would take away from the idea that Izuku is normal or similar to a real person, since he would have almost super natural intelligence and have a power like that.
    It also would make any other person look dumb by comparison, especially adults. Since a kid uses what is basically public knowledge to be better than others. It would be equivalent to how in SAO Kirito is hailed as a master video game player, despite not doing anything anyone else should be able to do or would do. Which makes everyone else just look incompetent rather than Kirito skilled. It wouldn’t make Izuku smart, but everyone else dumb.
    But by rushing in to help, despite being incapable to help in any real way, Izuku shows that he is more selfless than everyone else. And the mere fact that he at least tried makes him heroic. It doesn’t pull everyone around him down to write him like this. Now if this was heroic or just suicidal is a different debate.
    You could even interpret the fact that AllMight gives Deku the power as AllMight trying to save the kids life. If he didn’t do that it would just be a matter of time until Izuku would do another selflessly heroic action, that would kill him due to being powerless. But he he got the power, he would at least stand a chance.
    It also indirectly develops AllMight as a character. Since the story shows us, via the wound and time limit, that AllMight is similarly selflessly heroic. Which makes the connection between Izuku and AllMight stronger, than it would be if Izuku used his smarts.
    TLDR: by making Izuku not special in a real way, he becomes a better hero than if he were any smarter.

      And to add to this, quirk is a fan term made official in my hero academia before it got big. The word that describes quirks in the Japanese translation is individuality or personality. This can explain why characters like Tomoyami and Bakugo act they way they do. It is because quirks may have an influence b personality. With this in mind, because Deku lacks a quirk, this means that his want to be a hero is genuine and is not directly I influenced by a second source directly.

    • @BabyGirlTiny
      @BabyGirlTiny 3 года назад +17

      Nope, being smarter isn’t consider a Quirk, there has to be something more than just being smart, or else Momo would have a second quirk because of her intelligence. In the end, Deku doesn’t have to beat the sludge villain, he just has to understand his limits which he never does. He fact that the series placed a big importance on quirks made me believe that the series was going to go in the direction that anyone can be a hero without quirks, because anyone can be a hero without a quirk.

    • @frankwest5388
      @frankwest5388 3 года назад +13

      AJ when writing intelligence should be treated as a power. This has nothing to do with the in universe powers but it generally applicable.

    • @mangamandrew
      @mangamandrew 3 года назад +24

      @@BabyGirlTiny actually, being smart can be a quirk like principal Nezu and his quirk high spec. Also, yes Deku can learn a persons limit but that does not mean he can force them to those limits. Like with the fight between All Might and the shock absorption quirk. The Numu’s quirk had a lint but only all might was strong enough to push past it.
      And I think the fact that the you must have a quirk to be a hero ties into ideas later on in the series about how flawed the hero system is.

    • @frankwest5388
      @frankwest5388 3 года назад +9

      BigBlueDrew97 I always saw that as a safety requirement.
      Being a Hero is dangerous. Fighting villains, digging people out of a collapsed building usw can easily get you killed.

    The only problem that I can see with criticizing MHA for having some characters that aren't as memorable by comparing it to Assassination Classroom is a difference of goals. Assassination Classroom is primarily a comedy series as you said, so it is very important that the characters are well developed and memorable as well as having good chemistry with the rest of the class. I don't think the show actually does that as well as you think it does but regardless of that MHA has done much better for itself than the vast majority of anime when it comes to providing a full classroom of actual people. If this was a show entirely around these high schoolers becoming better heroes and not focused on the growing threat of villains and the main themes of the story, then I am perfectly willing to say that it could do so very well, as every character has potential, the series itself just wouldn't feel right diverting our attention away from the driving forces of the story to show off characters whose backstories have nothing to say about the hero society they live in and are generally more mundane and simple. Jiro becomes a main focus temporarily solely to help explore those themes because her parents are musicians and she was afraid that her wanting to become a hero would make them feel disappointed. Todoroki is developed because his father literally bred him to become a hero that would surpass All Might. Iida is focused on because his family business is hero work. Kirishima is focused on because of how his seemingly weak quirk can show how people with inferior quirks can make themselves feel insignificant, which sounds like a re-hash of Deku but it isn't, because Deku was born with no quirk while Kirshima had one but was seemingly weak even in spite of that fact. He's like another Mirio, having to train hard and build himself up to truly use his quirk effectively, but not in the technical aspect that Mirio must train himself how to use his quirk, but in the literal aspect where Kirishima had to understand what he had in order to truly use it. MHA focuses on themes, it shows the flaws in our society through the lens of super powers and a world of heroes and villains, but also everything in between. Every single member of Class 3-E from Assassination Classroom has a reason to be built upon, and it's the very reason that they are in Class 3-E to begin with, because they are shunned, because they're supposedly idiots, because they don't fit into the principals shiny perfect example of what a school should be. They are all focused on because they are the focus. MHA just isn't going for that, and so it's natural that it doesn't do things it doesn't need to perfectly.

    8:20 alot of people say this, but there’s already story beats that go against this or say what the story was going for.
    1 the entire point of the “ he ran without thinking line” is really to say that deku had a heart of a true hero. It’s not supposed to be the most strategic, since thats not the point. The point is that he saw a person in need of help, and like a true hero, he did everything he could without a power. The reason all might found him worthy was because of this heroic nature, and the fact that he himself was inspired by midoriya to take action. In a way, deku re invigorated all might.
    All might was not only at his limit, but was also pretty much a near perfect hero. Him feeling like shit for not being able to do anything makes sense, as his failures and failing body caused this to happen. Deku was the person who re ignited his spirit and re taught him to surpass his limits. Which is another reason why his running sequence was important.
    2. The deku can be a hero without a quirk thing has alreafy been debunked by all might and by power scaling. Deku is just a normal person. No matter how smart he is, he can’t out speed someone who has superspeed. Or someone who has super strength. Or a person who is a living liquid who could suffocate people. Not all men were created equal. And deku just couldn’t match people like that, even if he was smart.
    3. Deku isn’t really an underdog. This is a misconception created by people, and usual narrative story telling, but in truth, deku doesn’t really carry the traits of an underdog. Alot of people complain that he doesn’t act like one, but that’s because he isn’t. Deku is a person who is essentially dealing with an imposter syndrome, because he has to inherit the power of the greatest hero. Its deku coming to terms with what he inherited, and making it his own power. Deku himself even says that he was “too blessed” when he was about to acquire one for all. He himself doesn’t believe he’s worthy, but he’s willing to take it, to make it his own, and to achieve his dreams, and succeed all might. His character moments have been him becoming a more independent, and mature character, coming to terms with his power, and worthiness. And improving on the failures of his predecessors
    The reason the heroes didn’t help bakugo was simply because they didn’t have the quirks to do so. Its smart and tactical, but not the most heroic when a child’s life is at risk. And deku was chastised for his rush towards bakugo in that same episode. Either way, bakugo would have most likely died if no one did anything anyway

    • @Urolling
      @Urolling 4 года назад +4

      Yeah Deku literally is always saying he doesn't deserve the power and literally almost gave it to Mirio that one time since Mirio lost his power. Deku's whole entire character is based on the madness of wanting to save everyone no matter who they are.

Also judging by this I think it's safe to say you missed a big scene in one punch man. Being heroic is not just solving the situation being heroic is risking your life in service of others. As all might says later in the series midoriya was weak but he was more heroic than anyone because he had the will and the courage to just charge in and try. All might gave him one for all so that he could stand in the ring. The point isn't that midoriya could actually handle the situation, the point is the he had the determination, courage and instinct to be a hero. He just needed a way to bring that to life

    I actually recognize less between the different characters in Assassination Classroom than in MHA. That's probably due to MHAs diverse character design whereas Assassination has a more "normal" style. Beyond the main characters in AC I couldn't differentiate a few of them until they got through the island arc. However I could distinguish between all the characters in MHA after only a couple episodes of their introduction.

Since izuku was quirkless and reminded him of himself he chose to create a hero rather than doubling down on someone who already was one.

  • @mangamandrew
    @mangamandrew 4 года назад +4

    Points of argumentation #JustStop
    With Deku, the intoduction is to show that Izuku is the purest motives and ideals to be a great if not the best hero but was born quirkless. The story is about giving a chance to someone who had no chance at all to be a hero. Also, there was no way that Izuku could be a hero without a quirk as seen with the entrance exam to UA.
    And to explain why Toru Hagakure where’s a costume. She has a costume so that her team knows where she is at all times when not sneaking around. It is also likely that she must wear some form of clothing because of Hero laws. This is something that is brought up in MHA Vigilantes where it is explained why midnight can’t just walk around naked. Also, Toru does have a personality... she is a balky girl. And an ecplaination for why she ranked higher than Izuku and Mineta is probably because she is a normal human and Deku has a broken finger and mineta is short.

    I know that every character in Class 1-A isn't the most interesting (I still don't fucking know what Sato's personality is, they really should flesh him out just a little bit more), I don't think you give some characters enough credit.
    -Uraraka: You leave out her character arc of trying to get stronger so she can become a hero for her family and to be as good, or even better, than Midoriya. Her fight with Bakugo and her devastating loss was also not mentioned, as it shows how deep-rooted this mindset is, and how much it means to her.
    -Jiro: You also gloss over her arc of trying to decide what she wanted to be in life, and if her family and herself would be able to approve of it. She's not the most interesting, but there's more there than what you see.
    -Kaminari: You leave out how much of an IDIOT he is, and I love that most about Kaminari. He also is shown to try to improve himself through the Provisional License Arc. It's small, so I won't make it seem like he's the most interesting, but, again, there's definitely more to him.
    -Ashido: She's just a fun character. I just like how bubbly and dumb she can be, while also having immense bravery, and being shown to be one of, if not, the most athletic students in Class 1-A. I think there's a bit more to her, but I can see why you don't think so.
    -Tokoyami: He's literally fighting with the darkness inside of him. So, yeah, your description is correct. XD
    -Hagakure:
    So yeah. I think there's more to those characters than what you give credit for, and I still like all of Class 1-A, even if some of them aren't as focused or interesting.
