I think that the reason why people are upset is simply because there was a sequel in general. The original story was designed to be depicted in its own way depending on the reader, and we're watching a sequel based on someone else's depiction. So no matter what, most of the fans are going to be upset unless they had the same opinion as the writers, or aren't massive sweaty nerds. But I think that's the main reason why Rorschach fans are upset. Because some people saw him in a different light than others. I don't really care either way, because I'm never paying for HBO. Actually, E;R said it best, "I figured the name 'Rorschach' was because you, the reader, were meant to see what you wanted in the mask, in a realistic take on the 'superhero ideal.' And in the end, you would be left with a question: Is there really something noble about not compromising on your justice, even in the face of Armageddon? Or is Rorschach just a creepy weirdo who needs to calm down? Maybe something in-between? A bit of both?"
@@agustinpereira3128 I'm gonna sound really snobbish rn but I felt taht it was extremely unfaithful to the comic. Mostly Dr. Manhattan and Ozymandias. In the comic Dr. Manhattan had such godlike powers that he literally did not have any emotions. He was not human anymore; yet in the show he tries to be as human as he can when he never would have cared about it in the first place. What's the meaning of him walking up to Abar and having them be together, why would he create an entire new world on one of Jupiter's moons, why would he want to literally forget about his powers for over a decade?? It just does not make sense. Then we have Ozymandias who's a god-damned psychopath in this show. Veidt was never a maniac who killed innocent people without remorse. The show's argument for this is that he killed millions of comics in the comic but the important thing to remember here is that the reason he did this was to save billions. Ozymandias is rational, he's calculated, he's the smartest man in the world. He kills to save, not to amuse him in some stupid play he came up with himself; even if they were clones. Besides that he constantly gets outsmarted and ridiculed in a number of ways by a number of people and the only reason he is believed to be intelligent is because we are told he is. Aside from that the writing is incredibly sloppy; the word "fucking" was included in every three sentences in the most unnecessary places. There were a lot of plot holes and unexplained things happening; how did the grandfather make the police officer hang himself with a lamp, and what was up with the elephant? Personally though my biggest gripe might seem small, but Hooded Justice, who even gets his own episode, is completely changed for the sake of the show's message. Apparently he's a black man painted to look white, fighting against racism. In the comic the original Nite Owl wrote in his memoir that Hooded Justice was a pretty radical right-wing activist openly agreeing with many of Hitler's views. Sure it's never proven, but that's just to have him remain mysterious in the world of Watchmen. Hooded Justice was a large, muscular and strong weightlifter working at a circus who got shot in the back and dumped in the sea. It was uncompromising, there was no sugarcoating, it was the world Alan Moore created. It was harsh; it was real. The most heroic people can also be the worst of the worst, and they don't get any big final goodbye but instead an unceremonious shot in the back of the head because he had a sexuality no one wanted to accept. It had meaning and it had depth and it was the entire meaning of the comic. Hooded Justice was the essence of it, and butchering this meant butchering the adaptation. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk
@@tegelstenen4178 hey that’s fair 🤷🏽♂️ I will agree with most of the Manhattan stuff (loved the character in the show but I had to forcibly differentiate him from Manhattan in the comic). Honeslty though I really thought the essence of ozymandias was captured perfectly, I thought all those murders back on Jupiter were part of that rational facade. Can’t say I ever gave much thought to Hooded justice seeing as he’s barely in the comic but I liked the depiction in the show. Also for what it’s worth to point out I think the lamp he used to hang the sheriff (police commissioner whatever lmao) was part of the mind control tech that those white supremacists had back in his solo episode. I think we can both agree we’d like to hear Marcus’ thoughts on the show though??

Thank you. I don't understand the hate for this show. As a diehard fan of the comic, this is the only thing I've ever seen that that deserves to be a part of it's legacy.
Is poorly written and the actions of the characters did not make any sense the show firstly had few episodes with some questions to be unanswered the events after the comics the writers didn't even try to calculate how to expand the story Secondly they maked a comic which was about what truly means to be superhero and turned this to a discrimination issue well i don't have problem to be part of the show but at least to not to be completely the whole show point it should focusing mostly to Laurie and nite owl versus Adrian Third the race swap this rechnique to approach more audience is vile and pointless unless the actor or actress completely is completely fitting for the role. dr Manhattan was white so why they found this unnatural and change this to another color of skin the same with Hooded justice which perhaps the could work if they were two the actual one and the one was the killer in the prequel comic of the minutemen Fourth the locations. the new york it was the perfect location for the original comic and for the movie but the the locations in the series they weren't appealing and completely matched i mean a little town does not seem to the best location
@illseeyaonthedarksideofthemoon Wow. Yeah, I read the whole thing multiple times, and understood it, which seems to be the difference between us. I was actually shocked to learn the original author wasn't involved, it has his voice all over it.
@ntinosaggelopoulos6718 There was no "race swap". You missed the plot completely. Dr Manhattan took on a new form to disguise himself, even from himself...they didn't rewrite him as a different race.
Is not mean to share a opinion i mean the show completely does not have nothing from the comic or the movie the only thing that contexts with the show is only the title
I don't think you know what the word conservative means. Owl man a rich kid living off daddies money(he's in his 40's in the comics), and John Osterman working for the GOV. as a scientist in the 60's..... both obviously conservative. Even Nite Owl says he voted for Nixon! Roreschac was just Broken.... its literally in the book !
Because people with weak political beliefs feel the need to defend all media that parrot said political beliefs, otherwise they feel like they're "losing" the culture war.
This guy gets it wrong from the start watchmen is not about morally gray superheroes, it's about how heroes don't work in that universe because society is just as bad and dysfunctional to the point the only sensible approach is to kill a huge chunk of them to pacify it. Show doesn't make sense as a Watchmen show because it still tries to represent this dichotomy of good vs evil unless it tried to go out of its way to justify racism. He misunderstands Specter's character, she's not clinging to the past, she's afraid of veering off from the path her mother obsesively carved for her, in the comics she doesn't even care about Ozimandias' plan in the end, she decides to skip the heroics and try to live a normal life with the Owl who ultimately accepts that maybe the status quo is not deserving of being preserved. And about Rorschach, he doesn't care for justice or the truth, he cares for his vision of order and structure, hates what liberals represent just because they encapsulate the medium that led to his conception. Ultimately The Boys is a superior comic about society, manipulation and morals because it isn't as flawed as Watchmen
the boys as a comic is one of the worst comics ever made, it is poorly written, super super super edgy, and is way worse in every way imo. i completely disagree with your take on that bc dawg that comic fucking SUCKS.

I have better things to channel my energy into than some silly comic book from 40 years ago.
@@SirBlackReeds apparently hes just a creepy weirdo according to these writers lol
It’s super unfortunate the writer left the show. This show could have been amazing. The first season was very good though
I thank hid everyday that hack who ruined LOST has left
I think it's a good thing that this show is only one season. It's a complete story. No hanging threads
Probably making a new video now when he's seen the entire show, have a feeling the rating is gonna go wayy down
Ahh you think so?? I loved the show! Can I ask why you didn’t like it?

Everyone is a contrarian.
Thank you. I don't understand the hate for this show. As a diehard fan of the comic, this is the only thing I've ever seen that that deserves to be a part of it's legacy.
Is poorly written and the actions of the characters did not make any sense the show firstly had few episodes with some questions to be unanswered the events after the comics the writers didn't even try to calculate how to expand the story
Secondly they maked a comic which was about what truly means to be superhero and turned this to a discrimination issue well i don't have problem to be part of the show but at least to not to be completely the whole show point it should focusing mostly to Laurie and nite owl versus Adrian
Third the race swap this rechnique to approach more audience is vile and pointless unless the actor or actress completely is completely fitting for the role. dr Manhattan was white so why they found this unnatural and change this to another color of skin the same with Hooded justice which perhaps the could work if they were two the actual one and the one was the killer in the prequel comic of the minutemen
Fourth the locations. the new york it was the perfect location for the original comic and for the movie but the the locations in the series they weren't appealing and completely matched i mean a little town does not seem to the best location
Ain't no way you even read the comic, let alone understand it, if you think this trash is on par...
@@illseeyaonthedarksideofthemoon yes i had read the comics
@illseeyaonthedarksideofthemoon Wow. Yeah, I read the whole thing multiple times, and understood it, which seems to be the difference between us. I was actually shocked to learn the original author wasn't involved, it has his voice all over it.
@ntinosaggelopoulos6718 There was no "race swap". You missed the plot completely. Dr Manhattan took on a new form to disguise himself, even from himself...they didn't rewrite him as a different race.
0:34 interesting point, yet it wasn't a very one sided piece propaganda like the show. Let alone the fact that the show is hollow.
Watch the rest of the video. He explains this in detail.
Is not mean to share a opinion i mean the show completely does not have nothing from the comic or the movie the only thing that contexts with the show is only the title
did you read the comic? theres tons of plot points that connect to the comic. what do you mean
Why does Cosmonaut like everything that's shit?
