    I found the best RAM setting for both my 3900X and my 3200G is 3733 CL14 (14-15-13-30-43-280 1T) @ 1.5v. The RAM I use is Patriot Viper Steel DDR4 16GB 4400 CL19. It's about the cheapest Samsung B die kit on the market and it overclocks very well.

      @@matthewday7565 Frequency is only part of the equation. There's also latency, voltage, and heat to be considered. As Frequency goes up, so do the others. After many hours of testing on my PC from 2400 CL12 to 4400 CL19, 3733 CL14 @ 1.5v appears to be the sweet spot for DDR4 RAM, and a good balance of frequency, latency, voltage and heat.

    In my opinion, the best buy for these apu-s is definitely 3200mhz 14 14 14 ( with Samsung B die chips ). It's not that expensive these days, and if you know how to manually overclock it and tight the timings, that's the fastest you can get, it scales with voltage fantastically, even over 4000mhz... But it requires some knowledge and testing, but in the end Is worth it....

    Nice vid Mike 🥰👍 I agree DDR4 3600 mega transfer’s CL16 is the best plug n play option. Definitely doing very minor tweaking of timings will net some good and sometimes noticeable performance gains. After 4000 mega transfer memory speeds AMD’s infinity fabric adds ‘noticeable’ latency to your system…. again noticeable! I’ve had my timings down to CL12-14 and the gains aren’t noticeable in many cases in an APU build for the time spent tweaking etc. I’ve purchased some cheaper CL18 3600 mega transfer memory and just changed my CL to 14-16 in many instances just by manually inputting the new CL value after applying the DOCP/XMP setting 🥰👍.

    What i'm hearing with a lot of APU content is that "X expensive RAM makes a big difference". I'm sure it does, but for a lot of people using the APU is about saving money on a GPU (and electricity bills!). A Common scenario for most APUs is going to be a basic MoBo (eg A320) and Cheapo RAM, a basic case with PSU, for which you can build a workable gaming PC for around £300 (UK). And something like that will game at Low/Medium all day long for cheap (this is basically the MVP of gaming!).

    I've found from what I've been seeing in vids and reading on the net, the optimal ram is 16gb of ddr4 running at either 3200 or 3600 Mhz. Pretty much the same results that there were for the Ryzen 5 3600. 3600 Mhz is the better performer, obviously, but 3200 is the best bang for your buck as in some cases it can be as much as $15-$20 cheaper for some brands over 3600 Mhz. Over 3600 Mhz the performance benefits are negligible at best, and suffer quite heavily when you go below 3000 Mhz.

    I ended up with 3600mhz cl-16-16-16-32 for a price of 100BGN, about 51 euros. It definitely improved the performance of the APU noticeably...
    However, there is one problem that I haven't seen commented on anywhere! CPU consumption!
    At 3200 -16 it is about 65 watts, while at 3600 - 16 it is about, and often over 80 watts and stock cooling is not recommended!
    And one last point of view. auto overclock does NOT work for APU (+200mhz) with memory faster than 3200. And that makes things a bit more special ;)
    But it works with +200mhz for CPU...
    Adrenaline auto overclock (tuning control)

      Maybe you aren't looking at it the right way. Don't overclock the CPU, it's fast enough already and doesn't provide any more performance to the graphics. I overclock the graphics only to 2400mhz at 1.25V and it runs cool still because I didn't overclock the CPU. I use a cheap chinese 120mm Snowman cooler that was $16 shipped. You could even underclock the CPU to 4000 and it will make no difference in the graphics and run cooler on a stock cooler.

      The test temperature it reaches is no more than 60 degrees Celsius!

    makes 3200-3600 look best value and 4000+ still has ground to offer. But CL timings are high on the cheaper fast RAM so if you using CL16-17 you going to pay near double that of standard 3200 CL16. Yet o see any DRR5 with low CL numbers. When doing live Music Latency is the killer. So I think for many a slower 4000 kit is going to win over DDR5 at the moment for those on Intel and more the have in stock the cheaper they get DDR 4000+ is dropping in price while DDR4 3200 are still mass brought and more mark up. On CCL DDR 4 4000 is similar to 3600 which is what I think is the seat budget stop for iGPU gamer's at 1080p. Vega will be shit on Blender and Cinibench as both Don't get benefit from Vega as they are mostly CPU testing and only us GPU's with added feature which are not in the Vega series, Like they won't benefit AI Cuda work which requires Nvidia cores. Same as an Nvidia card don't work well on Linux which is more optimised for AMD hardware due to Opendrivers. I use an 2200G in my mini system and the Vega 8 would win and was until I got a 4K60 panel. Vega has no AV1 support leaving it to hardware rendering which is to much for 4 standard cores, I would love to hear how much of the 5600G 12 threads it uses up software rendering AV1 4K/8K with and without HDR. I was looking at 5600G but for the same price I can get a i5 with way more process grunt now, same low wattage, and as I don't game anyway the UHD 730-770 has a benefit as I can work while watch 4K streams in AV1 format which RUclips are pushing without losing core power to software rendering the video which currently is a no go on the 2200G as it flat out kills all 4 cores to decode and watch some youtube 4k channels. I haven't tested AV1 decoding on a Ryzen 5600G, but a compute task to takes up 4 thread solid at 3.5ghz the compute power of the CPU cores thats a 3rd of the total threads go just view a stream video while working I need compute power to compile with. My system is for quietness so no 125w CPU's and big noisy coolers for me. Hence I love this little build of yours. When I want to compile code while watch RUclips or others it will massively hit my CPU's cores even of a 5600G if the Video is in AV1 and if it is not it will be eating more internet bandwidth which is what AV1 is for to compress and use less internet bandwidth. This is why I am glad to see AMD getting on the AV1 wagon and AV1 native supporting GPU's just a shame no AV1 on the 6500XT as that would have made one more sale, as it would if the Vega APU's supported the format too, as 5600G are now sub £200 if you know where to look. I would love to go AMD (as a Linux use AMD rock) but until the AM5 drops everything. UK prices of Ryzen parts are over price like Any GPU here is over priced or part of some BS multi-buy deal. What I am glad to see in the cooler fits the Inwin case, which was an part of an Idea for my next windows build which will have more cores and any iGPU as it will only be for my DJ and mixing gear. Because for gaming I am going to use an Intel most likely before GPU price get sensible again. 6500XT at £200 with the power of an RX580 or worse if not PCI-E 4 is not worth considering. I sold an GTX970 once for £70 and traded an RX 580 at £70 which I sold on at £100, and felt like I had ripped them off. Now CEX have them marked up at £200ish. My advice is to sell sell sell, and wait for the crashes which Russian sanctions will course on us as Russia Blocks trade with us in response. If legal markets are not trading to Russia those Chips they would have brought have to go somewhere to sell after all. It is Chips like ARM chips that will get shortages, and more cost as transport route's fly over Russia from fare east. They will now have to go hundreds of miles round detour. What is petrol Now £1.50pl, £2pl buy Christmas wars only benefit Arm traders in Wall-street and Russia isn't Capitalist so Money pain don't hurt their leader. All it does is make those in poverty join the military and fight. Go in to your local job centre only jobs on the wall that pay are military based recruiting or Zero hour or 16 hour supermarket contracts. As a DIY builder I am hoping with AMD/Intel and Windows all blocking supplies to Russia I can pick up some passed over priced Hardware like 10th gen Intel which are pennies now, and only reason I haven't took advantage is the one they are still Intel and too no PCI-E 4 lanes and you can't get the most out of new card like the 6500XT without PCI-E 4x4. I haven't gone 11th because they are the same price to performance and motherboards for both still painful, pared to AM4 boards. So rather than build an 5600G now I am going to sell my PC before hardships here and abroad kick in to the west. And either go 12th gen Intel until such time a current GPU is affordable second hand, or wait for NAVI 2 desktop APU's which are going to be either Zen 3+ with V caches and NAVI 2 like those in the Ryzen 6000 Laptops or wait till AM5 Ryzen 7000G's with Zen 3+/4 with Navi 2+ APU's. But with the price of DDR5 Intel are hitting the 4K60 video and work machine hot stops for Linux. Only thing blocking a good future in tech is Nato and Russia forces and sanctions.

      16GB is fine, but 32GB is nice if you can afford it with some modern games using a lot of RAM

    Hello, does B450m Steel Legend works 3600mhz on 5600g? I can only use 3200mhz. I have CL16 3600MHZ

      @mikesunboxing  2 года назад

      3200 is probably the limit on b450 unless you are prepared to tweak the timings

    So it's better to get 3600 ram with cas 16 than 4000 with cas 18? I am a click away of the online order... .
