I REALLY hope Rebecca will show us newbies how to blanch and store the lettuce/kale/swiss chard.
Tell her PLEASE!!!!
That was so lovely to get to know more about Arun today 🥰 thank you for sharing him with us on the vlog
Of course!!
I genuinely dream of moving to the Carolinas and starting a homestead with my little one. Thank you for continuing to put out these videos!
I am really happy to see that your hard work and content is paying off enough so that you can hire a friend on the farm!
Yes! Thank you!
Have Arun make you guys Chicken/Lamb biryani. Ya'll will LOVE IT!! Once again you inspire me a lot. Love from India.
I must admit I miss the pigs getting out. It was funny. I can’t believe how smart they are.
As a suggestion for Rebecah: you could include for all the kids a bit biology related to the seeds and plants and the learn the latin names of plants. It can be very helpfull in the long term. For example beets and swishchard are the same thing but one is grown for the root and one for the leaves. As far as i know no school or homeshooling programs include stuff like this but it is a very important aspect later on when the kids will be adults.
Gideon knows his organics! Lilly is for sure becoming quite the little cook and she knows what she likes and wants to eat it! Loving it! Grow it all!💞
Wow!!
Those are some happy happy chickens, what a blessed yield on a richly blessed return. This year is my first year gardening do to the many encouraging hours. I've spent watching and learning through you the family. From watching the Lord God heal your beautiful wife through the foods she ate. Your family is such an inspiration to us all.🤗🤗
Thanks for including Arun today, love hearing about the people that helped you get here...
This Family is so inspiring and just beautiful friendships and family
Loving and caring
That's so sweet you guys gave him his own garden .
I Pray God continues to bless you all 🙏🏼
Seeing cabbage as a 10 yr old = yack, no. Seeing cabbage now as an adult = gimme, gimme, gimme sweated down with bacon = nomnomnom. Much gardening envy. Great work guys, you deserve your plentiful harvest.
Beautiful family,delicious food!
Home cooked meals fresh garden food, makes me miss my family.warmth,closeness.and beautiful garden and animals and meals together.childeren growing so fast.
Hello, and may your family have a blessed day.
I work in a school cafeteria and love that your kids help in the kitchen. A couple of things that might help. Teach your kids the claw method when using a knife. second when you thaw things in a sink you need to keep the water running. It can be the smallest amount of water but it keep the water circulating and is safer for the food.
Hey guys there is an easy way to weigh your turkeys, and your chickens. Take a couple of pieces of one by one boards and secure them to the inside of a 5 gallon bucket, use a large killing cone secured to the one by ones, the birds will be calm, and not jump around, and it will be easy to weigh them. I can send you the plans for it if you desire. But it's really easy to figure out. Love watching you guys,
Jimmy
Good idea.
Great harvest. So happy for y’all. You all work so hard to keep the farm going. Wonderful family. ♥️
Aroons smile is always contagious. I bet you don't buy sugar at the grocery store either with all those sweet children around!
In these troubling times, it is so awesome seeing how we are blessed to help one another. Love you all from Indiana!
I always wondered about Arune's garden, now I know! I can't believe you're already 3/4 of the way through the 100 day grow your own food time. Seems like it's only been a couple weeks! Gardens and produce are looking amazing. 👍☺️💕
Thank you. Rebecca is back. Hi Rebecca.
Holy cow that's a lot to harvest. Good for you. Love your videos. You and your family have been my inspiration & my family is heading towards a homestead of our own.
We call that bug a walking stick. Well that's what my grandma told me when I was about 5. That was 43 years ago.
Love to see the long friendships. Arun's garden - sounds really cool. :-)
I'm in Canada so it's ok, but I just watched this episode stoned on edibles and I swear Justin and Rebekah were stoned right along with me lol. Like, in Arun's garden and you guys were describing how it became Arun's Garden. That whole segment was exactly like a conversation I would have right now... and also at the end after weighing the chickens, that scene was totally a trip lol. Best wishes guys and keep up the great videos. I need to do this more often...
Boots, then Pappa and finally Jonah...that young man is going to follow in your footsteps. My grandchildren will watch in 100 days vlog when they are older, like I watch yours. It's sure something to see.
Lilly, you are such a great little cook. Just want to tell you to be sure you have the pot handles turned toward the stove. When they are sticking out, the skillet can easily be knocked off the stove and burn you very badly. If you don't understand what I am saying, ask your Mom or Dad to show you. We don't want you to be burned!
Love this one! Love your friendship :-) Spreading the love to everyone. Blessings
Nice video, good to see how the children enjoy helping.
Walking sticks are another one of God's amazing creations!
Another great harvest! Assuming that's where your winter garden will go i wish you the best of luck and bountiful harvest.
Beets green leaves are super nutritious , never throw them away, we par boil them then strain them , but not till they're totally dry , then place them into a large bowl finely chop two -3 garlic cloves drizzle extra virgin olive oil and then add some lemon juice and a splash of vinegar, salt and pepper to taste, a nice side dish with chicken or meat.
Walking Stick. Exactly right. It's the ultimate camo insect.
Nice job! You should be very proud of what you have accomplished.
I saw a video about quartering, blanching, and freezing cabbage. It looked like it was a great idea.
Nothing better than home grown food!
Nice breakfast from the farm, awesome Justin! 👍👍👍💯💯💯
My favorite family! I love watching your adventures Justin!
just watched the previous video missed it yesterday just means more today, something to try with your ribs from a Irishman make bodice which is basically boiling your ribs the leftover juice makes a lovely stock aswell and the ribs are tender the meat falls off the bone. Thanks for all the videos aswell kept me sane during lockdown and ive started a small garden aswell gotta start somewhere
If you add salt to the water that you wash your vegetables in, it helps to remove dirt, kill bugs and crisp salad greens when they are chilled.
These kids are gonna live until they are 120 with they way this food is grown!!
An awesome day on the farm..
Have a good evening 🌻🌻🌻
It's called a walking stick. Description Walking sticks, or stick insects, are a group of highly camouflaged insects. They escape predation by blending into plant material. As their name suggests, they look just like sticks, and may even sway back and forth to more closely resemble a twig moving in the wind.
I was taught to twist off the tops of beets, it was supposed to stop them bleeding and drying out.
I really enjoy your videos. It always put a sile on my face :)
I like to dehydrate Swiss chard. When it is finished I break it up into flakes for a sneaky way to add veggies to our meals. It is great sprinkled in casseroles, soups and stirred into even things like tuna salad for summer sandwiches.
What a lovely big stick insect, I've only ever seen them in the pet shop.
If you give your vegetables a vinegar bath, before you refrigerate it, it will kill most of the bacteria that you bring in from the garden, therefore last much longer in the refrigerator. Just fill the sink with a couple of gallons of water and maybe 1/4 cup of white vinegar. Let them sit in the bath for about five or so minutes then set them out on a towel to air-dry, then refrigerate. I have kept strawberries in my refrigerator for almost 3 weeks by doing this.
That is a walking stick that you found. They are so cool. Those and praying mantis are great bug eaters.
Just a tip; Water at night so the flowers etc. hydrate when the sun is going down(so the temperature is going down)😉
Justin I agree never too much butter.
The beautiful one_____so sweet
You could use your worm bin you had in the basement a few years ago, fill it with Sand and use ist as a Root cellar! Great Video once again 😀
Cool! A stick bug, nice find. Love watching you and your family on the farm, thanks for sharing!
Just an idea for you guys. Maybe add one of those retractable hose reels to the lutradoor (i doubt i spelled that right) pen structure? Then you can just pull the hose over to the lane and it is easy to reel back up when you go to move them.
Absolutely love your channel
My kids and my own beautiful one look forward to all your videos.
Love from my family to yours from Sydney Australia.
Thank you so much!
Harvest time is always so exciting!
Great Harvest. Chores are going to change again soon with Sea Monsters gone. Glad you have the Pigs something to keep them occupied lol although they have been behaving 😉. Breakfast looked Yummy. Loved story about Gideon and the Smoothie. He's learning quick. God Bless and Peace Be With You All
Arun he is a gentle man..
That bug is a stick insect, harmless and good herbivore. They are so cool, some species will wiggle and sway back and forth to look more like a stick. Some similar insects will look like a green or dried leaf, really awesome critters
Enjoyed the video. Real meaning of farm to table . Fresh and healthy . Arun's and your family friendship story is awesome. Let him cook more indian food for you guys 👍😊
Lots of love from India 🇮🇳
The beet greens are good for your family to eat
It's a walking stick! Nice harvest
Wow what a harvest
I was feeding my chickens so much greens from the garden that their eggs were getting bumpy and thin. Then one day one of my chickens laid a shell less egg. Now they are eating their eggs. I have a situation on my hands. I am going to buy some oyster shells to offer them
I loved Josiah's response to kissing the cabbage! Lol. Who wants beet greens for breakfast? Lily does!!! Great chidlens! That's a Stick bug! Have you ever tried putting the turkey bucket on its side and putting them in head first? Just a thought.
It's so nice to see Aroon (I know I killed the spelling of his name. Sorry :-) I am one of the people that has asked several times where he was :-)
That's a great haul of beets and cabbage. I love them pickled, tastes great with bacon (and most other things).
when you cook cabbage give it a sprinkle of caraway seeds it gives it a little sweetness
I don't know if you knew, but the stick bug you saved is on the endangered species list. That is one of the reasons we don't see many anymore. ( Beside its amazing camouflage technique.)
beetroot leaves are really nice to eat x
You need a hanging scale to weigh those birds. Put them in a bag or strip of cloth, hook it onto the scale and lift it up. Funny seeing you trying to keep a turkey in a five gallon bucket. LOL
Its a nice harvest. You should use the beet greens as swishchard, it actually is the same thing, chard is only grown for leaves and has no actual bulb. I do hope you will expand the garden area again both for you but I am also thinking Rebecahs parents and maybe a spot also for Arun and Amy. Concentrating the gardening in one area that has acccess to water and near the house means more can be grown and harvested.
If Rebecah doesnt check the comments Justin make for her a medicinal herb garden area.
Yay I got here 1 min after posting love your guys videos
Aroun also built the beautiful stone pathway to the house.
That insect is a walking stick! I've seen them over 6" long here in S. Central Texas!
You are doing an incredible job 💓
I used Buf Orpington hens for testing chickens for West Nile virus when I worked in the health department. They are really sweet chickens. They are a nice breed for you.
Roasted beets, pickled beets, beet fries, beet salads...there's no end to the things beets make better.
Did ya'll remember to get up the potatoes?
Super cool! Amazing how much produce you can get from such a small space
Pretty garden
Got a lot done today! Love your content and the videos.
Good morning
Hello from SC. Love your family
Love the vlogs, lol so funny Burn it up.
Is that to much butter...No Never...lol
Arun and his family are so sweet.
Breakfast looks so yummy.
Ive raised turkeys before and cracked up at the weighing turkeys part. So true and always a weird struggle.
Love the video 👍🏼 great job as always
It’s a Walking Stick! We have those here in NY also. They’re very cool.😎
Hey Rhodes fam I love u all so much ♥️ sending lots and lots of love from India 🇮🇳

Aroon is Awesome!!!
Beautiful garden love the videos
store all your root plants in wood chips. after a few months there still crunchy
That bug here in Portugal 🇵🇹 is called a stick bug and you can guess why and they even “dance” like all he sticks arround them when its windy to camuflage better they are so cool
I loved your cooking show! 😁
Thank you 😋
Could your kids make a video about the earth worms you find on the farm and identify them, and identify any grass, weeds or other plants growing in the wild? It would help me here in NC at my late mom’s property. Thanks
Beet green are the best with vinegar
GOD BLESS FAMILY
Keep up the great job.
