  • ‘Business as usual’ climate communication and education (CCE) in the United States is failing to achieve the large-scale, systemic changes needed to respond to the climate crisis. This webinar explores what ‘quality CCE’ means in different places through an exciting new series of case studies. Learn about a ‘whole school approach’ being used by an Earthship-style primary school in Argentina, professional development workshops where primary and secondary school students in the UK are ‘teaching their teachers’ to deliver more effective CCE, a ‘deep canvassing’ project that is increasing support for climate action in Canadian mining communities through vulnerable conversations, and how students are advocating for expansive climate education policies in New York state. Join us as we explore ways to unlock the potential of CCE for mobilizing climate action in the US and beyond.

This webinar is co-hosted by the National Wildlife Federation and the Monitoring and Evaluating Climate Communication and Education (MECCE) Project. The National Wildlife Federation is the largest nonprofit conservation education and advocacy organization in the US. Their Climate and Resilience Education Task Force is helping New York State to become a climate education leader (www.cretf.org). The MECCE Project is an international research-based partnership of over 100 partners, collaborators, and core staff working to improve the quality and quantity of CCE globally (www.mecce.ca). The Project’s outputs include a suite of CCE-focused global indicators, country profiles, case studies, an interactive data platform, a digital library, and the Global CCE Blog.
