This episode was so great, it's so far my favorite episode of the season. Each scene was important : a moment of action, a big conversation, exploring the psychology of a character… Clearly, there is a theme for this season : characters are facing their pasts. And if our guys, the "good" guys, are forced to face what they did wrong in their lives, Homelander is facing the persons who did wrong stuff to him. His scene here, him ordering that guy to do THAT and laughing in a crazy way watching him, it's one of the most shocking, disturbing scenes of the show so far imo. Because for once, the writers didn't put any subtitle, any other way to watch it.
All of his childhood, he was tortured by people who used his body to make experiences, he was manipulated to have that need of love and stay here with them. It's explaining why Homelander became like that, without justifying it for sure. Kimiko facing the girl she took in the streets, Frenchie saying the truth to Collin… it was hard, but nothing compared to Starlight. I would have reacted the exact same way as my girl, and that's what Sage wanted. She counted on that reaction, planned all of that.

You'll have noticed that Homelander welded the door of the Red Room shut after he massacred the rest of the staff, trapping Barbara inside. It's highly likely that she's gonna die as well but more slowly, being the one in charge of the facility meant she suffered the worst fate. 💀
Oh I'm not sure of that, I can imagine that for Homelander it's a deeper torture to do something like that to her and it's more interesting to have someone inside he can still visit, have information from etc. And I can't imagine she didn't warn anyone after receiving that call to meet Homelander here, that no one is gonna come at any point.
@@LauraReactions Fair points! I suppose the reason I don't hold out much hope for Barbara is that even if she did tell a friend or her family where she was going beforehand, what could they do realistically?
I do agree that it would be much more cruel of him to let her live and torture her, but I get the feeling that this was an action to wipe the slate clean on Homelander's part, to cut out that chapter from his life.
I suppose we'll find out in future episodes what her fate actually was!

I'm starting to think that Hugie's mum isn't actually there and she's just hallucination from the V he took in the last season. But HEY that just a theory.
But... We saw her talking directly with doctors, no ? Or at least him talking to her in front of doctors who would have reacted if they would have seen him talking to a ghost. On the contrary on Butcher's fbi friend that we didn't see interacting at all with anyone else than him, it was always "private" conversations between them without anyone around.
@@LauraReactions Who's to say the doctors are not hallucinations too. People in real life having powerful hallucinations from head injuries or schizophrenia can see more than one thing at a time. The reason for me thinking his mum isn't really there is because in season 3 it made a big deal to show that stuff coming out of Hughie's ear. I think that was foreshadowing what's going on in this season. So my theory is that he is going through the same thing as Butcher but just at a much slower rate
