  • Hello!
Today I am finally able to show you a project I've been working on for literally six months! It was a Christmas gift, though, so I wasn't able to share it until now.
I received a book, Jane Austen Embroidery: Regency Patterns Reimagined for Modern Stitchers by Jennie Batchelor and Alison Larkin (linked below) as a gift in June. Almost immediately, I began working on the piece for the top of a Georgian Tea Box. It's been a grand adventure, and I hope you enjoy watching!

I took one look and my heart hurt for you. The finished piece was beautiful and a great save.

I know you said embroidery isn't your strong suit, but WOW! This looks amazing! I'm totally inspired to make my own tea box now. Keep up the great work!

What a lovely gift! I have such envy! Also I actually said "oh no!!" out loud when I saw that the dye bled. That must have been so disheartening. Much sympathy for that moment when it happened to you.

What a lovely gift! I have never heard of embroidery floss running like that. Did you figure out why it did that? I cried when I saw it. I love Jane Austen too. When my husband and I moved into our condo, my husband suggested that we use the master bedroom for my sewing room and craft studio. It was so sweet. You remind me so much of my sister BRENDA. She was killed at the end of October. She was an amazing dressmaker. She made wedding gowns and Victorian gowns. I miss her so much. I have been binge watching your videos. Lol

If I may ask, where do you get your embroidery hoops? I have some cheap ones from a beginner's embroidery kit but they don't hold the fabric very taut while I'm trying to stitch. Do you have suggestions for where to get better ones? Thanks for the beautiful video and embroidery inspiration!!

Oh its a shame that it bled on your first time! Thats why I don't use washable things to mark my pattern, I use those pens that disappear with heat

A thoughtful and beautiful gift. I'm sure your friend adored it. This is inspiring me to attempt some embroidery again. If anyone is looking for step-by-step well done instructions, check out Gilbert Dolthalion's You Tube channel for some wonderful tutorials. Thanks for sharing and take care.
