Ye and the main takeway here was that Meadow indicated to Tony that the world does not revolve around him which is stating that she is genuinely exploring career opportunities and isn’t taking this career option out of spite and that she doesn’t hold grievances to her dad she is genuinely happy to see him and it’s not something she’s mulling over it doesn’t affect her decisions implying she doesn’t hold a grudge or feel resentment she’s forgotten . She also knows Tonys visit was out of apology without too many words being said he came there to say he’s sorry and that he doesn’t want her going down a career path in Law because of him.

Tony truly loved Meadow for the simple fact that even though she knew what her father was about she still loved him. If you also look as the seasons of the show progress they show that Meadow embodies the traits of her father, however she uses it in a positive light 💡. As all males in the family carry the name, I’m sure he would’ve wanted AJ to have represented himself/family name differently (positive way), yet due to him not being allowed to “discipline” him correctly (Carmela’s coddling) stopped that altogether. Meadow also represents what Carmela could’ve been, had Carmela had enough fortitude to actually do something entirely independent. Notice how even though Meadow loves both Tony/Carmela equally she always grew a stronger bond w/Tony

They were both terrible parents, I wouldn't really consider Tony's occasional outburst followed by long periods of being absent towards AJ to be discipline either. The truth to the matter is both didn't care, they were both extremely selfish. Tony only cared about the fast life and Carmela only cared about the spoils, both wanted their kids to not be in that life but did nothing really to prevent it, as Carmela's therapist prescribed to her, to take only her children and leave the corrupting effects of that life spread to them. AJ is chronically depressed and Meadow is on route to becoming a mob lawyer of sorts.

Tony and Meadow is the best relationship in this entire show. Partially father and daughter, combined with the timeless unstoppable force versus an immovable object dynamic of characters. There’s genuine love here. Both of happiness and honesty. Tony was the dominating force in his world, unchallenged by all really except Meadow. When Jonhny Sack whimpers being taken away at his daughter’s wedding, it is only Tony that understands the emotional chord being struck. Meadow sets her career path in law, motivated by the nonsensical rebuttals Tony has stated her entire upbringing. Like Father, like Daughter.
