But these cops still wanna be cops. Gumption. I wonder what it's like to take their work home with them every day. Let them have some fun, they need it for balance.

There's a New Mexican author named Michael McGerrety (can't remember the spelling) who used to actually be a detective here, I think, and he has written a series of fictional homicide suspense mystery novels, as well as a series of chronological prequels about the ancestors of the novels' protagonist, who is also a homicide detective in Santa Fe. He uses the NM scenery as if it's a character, too,, the way Tony Hillerman did. I like his series a lot. It's in the library. Take a look!

I miss Deming NM and Las Cruces NM to go shopping. I'm stuck in Missouri. I loved roadrunners and quail along the roads, watching dust devils moving across the areas of dust and getting out of the way, agettes and turquoise hunting, making noise to keep the rattle snakes away, going across the boarder to the pink store, Mexicans that couldn't speak it -really-. Sunsets. Yes, I miss New Mexico.
