All the other people in the submarines were collaborators for this album. All of them are travelling to plastic beach (the bands new head quarters/album title). The 3d character (Cyborg Noodle) I think was done as a style choice to seperate her from the real Noodle. The giant guy who swims under Noodles raft is the bands drummer (Russel) who grew in size after swallowing radioactive waste in the ocean. Both Noodle and Russel are going after Murdoc (The bass player, the guy with the green skin) after being replaced for this albums production. The masked guy at the end is a reocurring villain called the Boogie Man, who has come to collect Murdocs soul after Murdoc struck a deal in the underworld for his bands success.

Also Murdoc went to prison and they had a stand in bassist name Ace from the Powerpuff girls, until they broke him out
@@mmitchell1680 not exactly. at the end murdoc was there for something minor (like due parking tickets or something that dumb) but he announced it as it was a drug lord's revenge on him.
at the end he fulfilled his sentence (a few weeks) and told everyone that it was an awesome escape
Until he just sorta made peace with the boogeyman sometime before the do ya thang music video
I got some of the story behind it when it first came out but thanks for giving the whole story 👍
Gorillaz will never be equalled for their originality
The jellyfish that were brutally murdered are from another one of their songs. The song is "Super fast jellyfish" which is one of the most underated songs by Gorillaz in my opinion

Gorillaz were way ahead of their time considering they were doing videos like this from the start....before youtube existed !!
Popeye and his copilot are Mick Jones and Paul Simonon, half of legendary punk band, The Clash. There're several vids of them performing live with Gorillaz on Letterman, including a standout performance of Feelgood Inc with De La Soul.
PS Jones and Simonon feature on the album. The other sub pilots were collaborators on the album, too.
The video is a bit strange - but the song is (after almost 11 years) still awesome !

Why Noodle was 3D is because that wasn't the real Noodle, that's a robot.
The real Noodle was that girl on the boat in the beginning.
Awwww yes, this is one of my favorite Gorillaz songs! I recommended Blur to you on a recent Beatles reaction; the Gorillaz project effectively came out of Blur so now I recommend Blur again! The Blur song "On Your Own" is what the band considered to be the song that started the Gorillaz project so that could be a good one to hit up :)

Snoop , the clash, mos def, diplo, andrea 3000, the video before this, Stylo, will fill in the story gap, the videos follow a cannon story like a comic, that's why the lyrics don't typically correlate to the images, the next video should be superfast jellyfish

The problem with Gorillaz is that you kinda have to watch the videos in order to understand what's going on. Listening to them is awesome, but the videos really change the perspective.
You should check out stylo aswell.

I reccomend you to react to the song "The Lost Chord" next time
See "Stylo", "Doncamatic", "Rhinestone Eyes" and ideally get the Gorillaz backstory beforehand. Otherwise you will find "The Lost Chord" even more incomprehensible than this video! 😄 It would be like watching the movie "Avengers Infinity Wars" after only watching "Captain America" and "The Avengers".

The reason "the girl" is in 3d is because she's a robot based on one of the band member that were currently missing in action during this phase
I'm tellin' ya, bro, gotta check out "Stylo." Same album, in fact the video for Stylo transitions into this one. Plus it's got Bruce Willis and I believe Mos Def.
And the 3D girl is the same character (Noodle) as the girl on the ship with the Tommy gun. There's a story here but I think it's probably one that requires seeing the whole album play out.

If you watch these you will understand whe there are two Noodles.
Not really- he would also need to hear or read the official lore. How the two Noodles came into being occurred between these two videos. Without the lore, the videos are still largely interesting but confusing gobbledegook.

As far as I remember, " subscribe" has an "r" in it.. Could be rong though 😂 Great band, great animation techniques. As far as I'm aware, the video is only loosely connected to the meaning of the song. For me, the song depicts a mythical, child-like place where you can go when you need to feel like a child again.

Snoop Dogg has worked with them several times, every time it's amazing. "Hollywood" and "welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach" are both Gorillaz songs with Snoop Dogg
