Hello Displorers, Welcome back to another fascinating video and thanks for watching, in today’s video, she shall be doing something a little different from what we usually do here at Displore, we shall be put two of the most beautiful island countries in Africa Mauritius and Seychelles to see which island comes on top. For a long time there has been a comparism between Seychelles and Mauritius over which country is best especially for tourists and people who intend to relocate and start a new life in those countries. Although both countries have somewhat similar features, each offers its own benefits. Many factors go into deciding which country is a better option such as the primary aim of the trip and what you intend doing in both Countries. So in this video we shall be putting both countries against each other to see which comes on top.

Geography
Officially the Republic of Mauritius, Mauritius is an island nation in the Indian Ocean about 2,000 kilometres off the southeast coast of the African continent. The country includes the islands of Mauritius, Rodrigues, Agaléga and St. Brandon. The islands of Mauritius and Rodrigues form part of the Mascarene Islands, along with nearby Réunion, a French overseas department. The capital and largest city Port Louis is located on the main island of Mauritius. The area of the country is 2,040 square kilometres, the nation's Exclusive Economic Zone covers an area of 2.3 million square kilometres. The country's landscape consists of a small coastal plain rising to discontinuous mountains encircling a central plateau. Mauritius is almost completely surrounded by reefs that may pose maritime hazards. The main island is of volcanic origin. With regards to the climate of Mauritius, the country has a tropical climate, modified by southeast trade winds; there is a warm, dry winter from May to November and a hot, wet, and humid summer from November to May. Anti-cyclones affect the country during May to September.
Just like Mauritius, The Seychelles is a small island nation located in the Somali sea northeast of Madagascar and about (1,344 km) from Mogadishu, Somalia, The nation is an archipelago of 115 tropical islands, some granite and some coral. the majority of which are small and uninhabited. The landmass is only 452 km2 , but the islands are spread wide over an Exclusive Economic Zone of 1,336,559 km2. Though the country comprises of about 115 volcanic inlands just three islands are inhabited, the island of Mahè, Praslin and La Digue. Around a third of the land area is the island of Mahé and a further third the atoll of Aldabra. The capital and largest city in Seychelles is Victoria. Despite the fact that Mauritius is almost three times larger than Seychelle, both countries have almost the same climate and other geographical features, so expect almost same things when when it comes to the geography of both countries.
When it comes to beaches, Seychelles and Mauritius have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The beaches in both countries are clean with white sand with crystal clear waters. Some of the most beautiful beaches in Mauritius include; Grand baie, Le monte Flic en flac, Trou Aux bishes. Seychelles on the other hand have beaches such as Anse Lazio beach, Anse Royale beach, Beau Vallon, Anse Source D’argent just to mention a few. These beaches promises almost the same experiences of a life time.
Demography
Mauritius and Seychelles are some of the least populated countries in Africa. Mauritius has a population of about 1.265.984 people, The country’s population is dominated by females with about 643.690 females while the rest of the population comprises of males. The majority of the population of Mauritius comprises of people between the ages 25 to 54 years old. Seychelles on the other hand has the smallest population in Africa with a estimated population of about 95.000 peopple. Amongst the 95.000 people in Seychelles, 45,218 are males while 49.782 are females. Just like Mauritius, the majority of the population of Seychelles comprises of people between the ages 25. To 54 years old. Birth rate and Death rate is relatively low in both countries compared to most African countries. So going to both countries you should expect almost the same demography.

Roadways are pretty bad though, I drove from Flic en Flac to Moka everyday and it would often take over an hour.. Light rail is also very limited and doesn't even go to ebene

Mauritius baby.... lots of cultures, excellent food, extremely diverse, lots of malls, good local beer, stunning beaches, stunning hotels
Seychelles has better original culture than Mauritius from what I’ve seen. Mauritius food is technically Indian and Chinese cuisine.. Indian has taken over and run the country so barely diverse. Seychelles on the other hand is more original with not much influence on our cuisine and people are more unite than Mauritius. Look at our presidential election was known to be the most peaceful election in African history. Seychelles has more natural beauty as Mauritius has been over developed. We take alot of precautions that dont affect our environment. We have more animal species than Mauritius by far and one of the best eco system in the world!

People from the past has been transiting from Seychelles to Mauritius and vice versa.
The two countries speak same language.
Apart from eating outside or for special occasions, people eat creole cuisine mostly ( bouillon, manioc, rougaile, poisson griler, cari etc..)
Seychelles and Mauritius share a relationship of fraternity. They have been colonised by mostly same people in the past: Mahe de Labourdonnais and Pierre Poivre.
We must all be happy to enjoy Independence and the uniqueness of our countries.
Let's be helpful in a moment of financial crisis to each other.

Is video deliberately designed to confuse viewers? Pictures, both still and moving are mixed up, that one does not know, which ones are of Mauritius. Ditto for Seychelles.
Seychelles used to be administered by Mauritius at one point.
Both islands are beautiful in their own right.
Mauritius has a set of 49 islands surrounding the main island and can be accessed during day time by boat/catamaran only.
None is inhabited.
The Chagos Archipelago forms part of the Mauritius Republic too.
Before comparing you have to be in both country first..
In terms of economic development and infrastructure, Mauritius wins, but in terms of beaches and natural reserves and culture Seychelles wins. Having been in both countries

Very difficult to compare,Sey,is much smaller in landmass than mu.and also population 100k to 1.3 million,EEZ is somewhat comparable at 2.4 km2.To people who don't know it will be comparing Switzerland Mu to Monaco Sey.

even with all the race based issues in Mauritius, and the fact that most of the Seychelles are uninhabited by people, you are absolutely right about that. they have no where near the amount of issues the us has and the racial issues are less tense. also their government is less corrupt. this is probably accurate for all of Africa though. they have their reasons for being poor but they are all better than America.

We were force to stay inside actually people were getting arrested left and right and to this day even if we had no case since a month if am not mistaken we are forced to put on that mask. And during that lockdown there were acts of police brutality caught on tape and to this day we do not really know if all of them was fired or sent to jail.
And we had a month and a half of lockdown if am not mistaken
Lots of mauritian who left the country couldn't come back and are still suffering abroad suffering to this day due to lack of resources
Money is being taken out of the national reserve like nothing. Because our economy is getting wrecked completely during the lockdown and ou aviation company's fate which is very important for one of the pilars of our country may go down.
Right now a boat just crashed on our reef and our government did nothing substancial for 12 days and now there is a risk that our marine ecosystem and a marine park is about to get fcked due to the oil spill and a whole lot of poor people depend on that lagoon to feed their family.
The right of our workers and our constitutional rights are constantly being spit on.
And btw look at the covid bill that was passed during the lockdown btw. When people couldnt go out in the street and protest.
Our supposed beaches are being sold to hotels or rich people and mauritian are not even allowed to go on those beaches.
We had a president who openly said he would murder another politician of he could for insulting saudi arabia .
And that is just the tip

I'm from the Caribbean island of Dominica and I'm happy to know dat the people of Seychelles and Mauritius speaks creole like we do in Dominica and some other islands in the Caribbean .
Actually our creole are very similar and we can definitely understand each others creole. I was shocked the first time I found out that Dominican, Haitian, Louisiana and French Guianese creoles were very similar to Mauritian and Seychellois creole. Of course there is a slight difference in accents between the islands but other than that it is very similar.
Oh and I forgot, the Trinidadian creole which unfortunately is dying and being replaced by English. The youths there are too ashamed to learn or speak their creole and only a few elders of the island keeps the language alive. There are only an estimated 1000 to 2000 creole speaking in Trinidad today.
Great places
You mentioned that 'Mauritius is almost completely surrounded by reefs that may pose maritime hazards'. Why is that? What kind of hazard? I thought the reefs protect the island coastline from erosion and the reason most of the beaches is good for swimmers who like calm waters. Some beaches where there is less reefs, the waves are stronger which is good for surfers. The reefs also help the various fish population species.

The same Pierre Poivre and Mahe de Labourdonnais colonised both countries in a similar way. However Seychelles is unique in its way and so is Mauritius.

Sorry, a few of these facts are totally wrong, as being an expat and still live in Seychelles and have been to Mauritius . I would say although being a wee bit bias, that Seychelles is a whole lot cleaner and woth better beaches. Oh ! You pronounce Praslin ,like the Belgium Chocolate and Le Duige ,has a silent 'e'. But they both have many things to offer. ❤

The only thing Mauritius has over Seychelles was the singer Kaya when it comes to originality.. Seychelles has better original culture than Mauritius from what I’ve seen.
