Hi Zeo i am looking for an good bassy iem I have the KZ ZS10 Pro. But i dont like the Highs and mids. The bass is „ok“ but not the best i have a cheap pair of Xiamio cost 26$ and the Bass of the Xiamio is better then the KZ ZS10 Pro. Would you recomend kinera bd005 pro or moondroo aria .? Or an another brand.? My maximum budget i give it for good bass iem with detail and V shaped (50 - 200$)
The only reason I bought the Kato was as a homage to my dear cat friend Kato that died the day this was released. I didn't think much of it when I got them at first cuz they were meant for living with me as an ornament of sorts and as a reminder of my friendship with Kato. But I opened them, tried them, and fell in love with them while crying to my cat's memories. I'm pleasantly surprised by them. I'd rec.
@@ZReviews Indeed sad, but made them a bit more special : ) he used to scape home and fight alot with other cats for territory and give me scares while coming back half dead (but victorious) could be the sweetest or the most insane cat at a snap if u rubd him the wrong way and yea.. he was a character. the EVO cable is actually made by a company called Linum. Their cables are purposefully super thin yet supposedly much stronger and more durable than normal cables
Now on my third set of Quarks. Keep letting people listen to them and selling them on for cost. Best sound for your pound I've heard. The KZ ZEX is also amazing for the money.
@@edwardelric8966 depends on the phone or PC. Ironically enough phones usually have better dacs and shielding. in general? yes. if your source doesn’t have a horrendous noise floor or crackling you’re usually…OK. apple or 3rd party dongle will work just fine.
For the price the Quarks are a pair everyone should have. They feel impressively sturdy, given they're plastic. They would make for great stocking stuffers. I'm considering getting another set, with mic, to use with my phone for calls; TWS still sound tinny, to me, over a phone call.
Howdy Z, I’m sure this is an unnecessary comment, but just for the sake of counting the beans right: The Evo is a three BA set. Not a three dynamic. And the Tin T2 is a two dynamic per side set (rather unusual) I don’t listen to your reviews for this kind of info, I like your impressions of the actual sounds. Keep up the good work!

My Quarks just arrived after impulse buying them due to this video. These have no right sounding this good for £10 delivered. The bass region is a little lacking, but if you like vocal forward, mid range heavy genres, these things are insane for the price tag. Will definitely be my "out and about" headphone.
lacking under 30Hz bass from what I've seen from measurements, you would probably love QKZ VK4, another great dirt cheap IEM, was considered no competition under $110 basically and Starfields until Arias($80 so they ARE better) and T2 Plus(basically just much better build quality, don't sound any better) came out, they finally have competition in their pricepoint with Quarks, nice cheap entry into IEM's for a lot of people, back when I started using IEM's cheapest good stuff you could buy was Shure SE215(which I did 😅) and now even in $15 range you have options of QKZ VK4 and Moondrop Quarks
I love my Quarks. I also have a Blessing 2 Dusk, but Quarks are just such a great shock because of how good they are for so cheap. I also wear them over ear. Love them and highly recommend them
Coming from speakers, but diving into IEMs and headphones. Are the Quarks a good taste of the Blessing 2 Dusks? I'm eyeballing that as an IEM endgame, and know it will be way more detailed, but I mean more sound signature (first Moo drop IEM). The 7Hz Timeless is up there too.
@@YitbosSwede imo yes, I also have both and came from the starfields/ssp originally and I think tonally the quarks are my favorite and I use them over the b2d when I go out' or when sleeping.. main difference for me is the 3khz peak which is very noticeable when switching between them but for me it's a non issue

If you think cheap=easy to drive, think again. You need a decent AMP for the Quarks to shine. I use them with BTR5 and I am amazed by the fidelity. You hear things that otherwise don't exist. Beatles - Yesterday go to 0:20 and you can hear a door opening and squeeking. Simply amazing.
Slightly disappointed the waifu wasn't Kato from Saekano for the image download this video, but great video nonetheless. Also what would you recommend the OH7 or the Illumination?
picked up some quarks due to this video after recently upgrading my audio situation from a standard headphone jack to some fidelio xr2s and a fiio k3 which isn't crazy but its a real nice and notable upgrade from my old stuff and honestly they sound phenomenal for 13 bucks very enjoyable plugged into my k3 and just my regular moto edge 2020
After this Video i ordered the Quarks just out of sheer curiosity. Never been an IEM guy, but as these were hyped so much and are only about 11€, i thought i'd give it a shot. Now, i really wasn't expecting the world from these, but when they arrived i was immediately impressed with the smart and beautiful packaging and the contents. Nice little color matching bag, a cute Moondrop cabletie and a stunning cable. I do like myself a pretty cable and while it feels pretty standard, i looks amazing. I love the light glisten in the dark grey, it looks just like the paint of a car. That's the best way to describe it. The split also looks way less ridiculous in person. Thats about where the good things end unfortunetly. I put them in with the excitement of trying a new audio product and the pleasant experience from the unboxing and it didn't take 1 Minute to dissappoint me. I was hoping, for something surprising. Not even great, just surprising. For beeing good for the price or exceeding in one specific category. But, nothing. It's just your typical 10€ in ear from your local electronics store. Tinny it is. No Base at all, piercing top end and a subdue midrange. If you like the look or the small form factor, by all means, get it, but don't expect great sound quality. I remember Earpods beeing on the same level. You're not missing out
pretty much the opposite of how they sound to me. “warm neutral” is about where I’d put em. try different tips. I inverted some KZ Starlines and those sound the best
sounds like you maybe got a faulty pair. I had a bunch of 50+€ electronic store buds that sounded way worse than the quarks. they're nowhere near cheapo-sound quality.

@@nonstopbg They’re easier to drive than hd650 but ya can use a lil bit of power. They sound pretty similar! hd650 has thicker mids. Quarks are tiny bit shoutier but not shrill. You should try the CCA CRA too. you think details on quarks is impressive? lol, I mean, for 13$ it sure is. But damn the CCA CRA is insane on details. Unfortunately the treble is just a tiny bit too much for higher listening volumes. definitely DO NOT listen to them at any higher than 80db you will damage your hearing lol
ok Z, ok. you forced me to make the Quarks my stocking stuffer for Xmas this year. these into my little bear b4-x, wonderful. bass smacks, treble is fine. no complaints.
Quarks is great for the price. Tuning wise its fukin accurate and fun. But you should use low volume for best performance. Their driver hate to be pushed hard with loud volume
The Quarks's size reminded me of Final Audio's old F series Single BA IEMs: the F3100, F4100 and F7200. I like the 4100 the best; they kick ass for a single BA

Haven’t heard those but I did see that Tin P1 Plus is a thing. I love the original P1’s even with their shortcomings. Hopefully the Plus address some of the issues.
If I was a completely selfish person(as opposed to the mostly selfish person I am)I’d say hold on in Memphis. It’s central to the county, a lot of travel options, great food, fantastic live music options, and probably dirt cheap compared to Nashville. However, Atlanta would probably make more sense for a southern audio show venue. Hold it the week before or after Dragoncon and my vacation is set. Plus my brother lives down there and it would be cool to go see him. Minneapolis would be a good northern option I think.
Got my quarks and finished about 20 hrs of burn in took them to work and sold 4 of my coworkers on them as well. They sound so fucking good for like 14 dollars like WTF
I have the Tin T2 plus, Blon BL03 & the KZ ZS10 Pro, falling for the hype train, I've ordered the 7hz Timeless and the KATO....will be arriving in a couple of days, How much of a sound quality jump can I realistically expect from these two compared to the dirt cheap ChiFi's that I already own? I use apple music Lossless on my Sony A105 and a Shanling M3X...
Do you like the KZ brand of inexpensive IEM's? They're prices rival the inexpensive Quarks. They have removable cables. They have a BT cable for their sports IEM's. I don't know if it works with their 2-pin non-sports models. They have several models in the teens and $20's. They're 20-40,000KHz. In over-ear and non-over-ear models.
a bit peaky, nice and smooth once EQd with AutoEQ preset, just small drivers don't push enough air for my liking, it's there but you can't "feel" 20-100Hz range like you would from bigger dynamic driver(quarks use 6mm ones)
Funny, I picked up Katos as my 1st pair of nice, audiophile quality headphones/iems based on nothing but a couple of recommendations on random websites and my jaw hit the floor. I have nothing to compare to other than some old shure earbuds or various mainstream Bluetooth earbuds, but, fuck these are amazing. I'm getting a Muse M3 to go with them as my 1st dac, I think I'm hooked already, just listening on Spotify and my head is exploding. Gonna try Tidal when I get home
There isn't much competition if you get these for less than 190. I just got a used blue for 140 and can't wait for it to arrive, I have an Aria se as comparison.
I'm thinking of upgrading my kato's cable. And it also need to be interchangeable plug cable. Will moondrop pcc cable ok? And also eartips, I'm ok with springtips but also want a pair of foam tips. Which foam tips ll be the best for kato as well?
Hey Z quick question. I got the KATO last week and I have the same problem that I had with the Aria. I fucking LOVE the sound but they don't suit my ears at all. I just can't get a good fit. Would you say that if I go for the Legacy 5 it would be a suitable replacement, sound quality wise?
Hey Z, thanks to you I've bought the Tin T2's, Blon Bl03, KZ-ZS10 Pro and Koss kph30i's and modded with the Grado's ear pads. I don't know what iem's should be my next upgrade, from my 3 iem's Tin T2's are my favorites ; I'm between the moondrop starfields or Shuoer Tape 2.
T2 Plus are great, much better than standard T2's, also built like a tank, qkz vk4 are rly filmsy and with qc problems, quarks probably also not good build quality, I ordered 3 pairs for myself 😅
Audio fest in Oklahoma. We need good audio in the south. Either here or at least Texas. But Oklahoma is a surprisingly easy state to reach and the cost to host events here is CHEAP.
Hell yeah! The tornadoes are free, too! Tulsa is actually one of my favorite urban cities: good old architecture, and walkable downtown. I'm not knowledgeable enough about okc to give a good opinion tho, despite living here for 20 yrs 🤦
So I got the quarks today to see if they would be good as stocking stuffers. They basically have a really nice even sound. The bass is surprisingly good for that little driver. It’s a really relaxed sound that’s almost soft if you would call it that. There’s not a lot of energy overall and it’s definitely softer in the treble. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing because you basically pop those little things in and just chill. I think you could technically do better for $16 getting the Kbear KS1. Is it has great bass and thickness that makes male vocals sound good. The treble is surprisingly good on the KS1. It’s not really rolled off like you would expect.
The supplied KATO eartips are seriously annoying - they seem to be really difficult to get onto the output nozzles to the point where you think you have been sent the wrong tips in the box. Also the L-R marking is absolutely invisible as usual - the red Sharpie is your friend. This is outrageous for $200 IMO. Having said all this, they do sound good, but why does the attention to detail have to be so lacking with the ChiFi??
Got the katos coming. Ordered over a week ago from APOS (which should really make it known they have a china warehouse vs having me buy IEMs and getting chinese 4px tracking but their about me says CALI.. BRUHHHH) anyway i did that mistake with arias but this time i was ok with the wait but still... for anyone else they really should advertise your purchase may ship from China. Some of us will gladly pay more for stateside stock.... end rant... Anyway i got the Katos coming and will be selling my Arias. Much excite for these.
Loved the Kato too at first. How do you feel after some listening time though? They got fatiguing to me. Maybe too fun…if that’s a thing 😅 Very engaging, but so forward it can get harsh to my ear.
Just order new set of filters. Even though I like my one a lot there seems to be some filter imbalance on the same filters. For example if I switch the filters the other way I can now hear the imbalance on the othersidr aswell which proves the filters on my one aren't 100% accurate. You may find a more warmer sound on your next set of filters so it's worth a try.

I'm sad that the loxjie amp didnt get more mention about how it can drive the IEMs. Since its such a mainstream amp and Z recommends it to everyone ever. Would be cool to know how the common man's amp can drive stuff
Etymotics ER4SR cable is why I stopped using those earphones. They want $50 for a replacement cable they KNOW is going to break because they are so frail.
No theme review said it's good if you need something neutral regardless of price. But I don't need anything neutral. I'd spend $8 an hour and get this ccz, coffee, Bean or $14 more for ZEx
For me my favorite budget set is the Jade Audio EA1. It had no right sounding as good as it does for $26. I paid $40 when they were released and the price/performance ratio is still unbelievable. And I own over 40 sets of iems in all price categories.

please review ER2 series. You haven't made any video about etys in a long time. The last one is ER4P which was 4yrs ago in iem shoutout segment. etys at least deserve a single dedicated separate video from you.
Quarks are great for the price, but I just got my pair from amazon and they don't compete at all with anything above 30 dollars IMO. They sound fairly neutral and cold. Definitely needs a warm amp to liven them up, which at that point, just buy something more fun.

Zeos. I think it would be cool if you could test EVERY iem with the btr7. Imo, people use iem's for portability, and a lot of us own a btr7.

@@nonstopbg They’re easier to drive than hd650 but ya can use a lil bit of power. They sound pretty similar! hd650 has thicker mids. Quarks are tiny bit shoutier but not shrill.
You should try the CCA CRA too. you think details on quarks is impressive? lol, I mean, for 13$ it sure is. But damn the CCA CRA is insane on details. Unfortunately the treble is just a tiny bit too much for higher listening volumes. definitely DO NOT listen to them at any higher than 80db you will damage your hearing lol

Quarks is great for the price. Tuning wise its fukin accurate and fun.
But you should use low volume for best performance. Their driver hate to be pushed hard with loud volume
The Quarks's size reminded me of Final Audio's old F series Single BA IEMs: the F3100, F4100 and F7200. I like the 4100 the best; they kick ass for a single BA

Haven’t heard those but I did see that Tin P1 Plus is a thing. I love the original P1’s even with their shortcomings. Hopefully the Plus address some of the issues.
If I was a completely selfish person(as opposed to the mostly selfish person I am)I’d say hold on in Memphis. It’s central to the county, a lot of travel options, great food, fantastic live music options, and probably dirt cheap compared to Nashville. However, Atlanta would probably make more sense for a southern audio show venue. Hold it the week before or after Dragoncon and my vacation is set. Plus my brother lives down there and it would be cool to go see him.
Minneapolis would be a good northern option I think.

I have the Tin T2 plus, Blon BL03 & the KZ ZS10 Pro, falling for the hype train, I've ordered the 7hz Timeless and the KATO....will be arriving in a couple of days, How much of a sound quality jump can I realistically expect from these two compared to the dirt cheap ChiFi's that I already own? I use apple music Lossless on my Sony A105 and a Shanling M3X...
Do you like the KZ brand of inexpensive IEM's? They're prices rival the inexpensive Quarks. They have removable cables. They have a BT cable for their sports IEM's. I don't know if it works with their 2-pin non-sports models. They have several models in the teens and $20's. They're 20-40,000KHz. In over-ear and non-over-ear models.

a bit peaky, nice and smooth once EQd with AutoEQ preset, just small drivers don't push enough air for my liking, it's there but you can't "feel" 20-100Hz range like you would from bigger dynamic driver(quarks use 6mm ones)
Funny, I picked up Katos as my 1st pair of nice, audiophile quality headphones/iems based on nothing but a couple of recommendations on random websites and my jaw hit the floor. I have nothing to compare to other than some old shure earbuds or various mainstream Bluetooth earbuds, but, fuck these are amazing. I'm getting a Muse M3 to go with them as my 1st dac, I think I'm hooked already, just listening on Spotify and my head is exploding. Gonna try Tidal when I get home

Hey Z quick question. I got the KATO last week and I have the same problem that I had with the Aria. I fucking LOVE the sound but they don't suit my ears at all. I just can't get a good fit. Would you say that if I go for the Legacy 5 it would be a suitable replacement, sound quality wise?
Where did you find the Kato upgraded cable ? Any Balanced cable or adaptor you would suggest ?

Hey Z, thanks to you I've bought the Tin T2's, Blon Bl03, KZ-ZS10 Pro and Koss kph30i's and modded with the Grado's ear pads. I don't know what iem's should be my next upgrade, from my 3 iem's Tin T2's are my favorites ; I'm between the moondrop starfields or Shuoer Tape 2.

T2 Plus are great, much better than standard T2's, also built like a tank, qkz vk4 are rly filmsy and with qc problems, quarks probably also not good build quality, I ordered 3 pairs for myself 😅

Audio fest in Oklahoma. We need good audio in the south. Either here or at least Texas. But Oklahoma is a surprisingly easy state to reach and the cost to host events here is CHEAP.

So I got the quarks today to see if they would be good as stocking stuffers. They basically have a really nice even sound. The bass is surprisingly good for that little driver. It’s a really relaxed sound that’s almost soft if you would call it that. There’s not a lot of energy overall and it’s definitely softer in the treble. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing because you basically pop those little things in and just chill. I think you could technically do better for $16 getting the Kbear KS1. Is it has great bass and thickness that makes male vocals sound good. The treble is surprisingly good on the KS1. It’s not really rolled off like you would expect.
are the ks1 and quarks okay even if used on a phone only without dacs?

The supplied KATO eartips are seriously annoying - they seem to be really difficult to get onto the output nozzles to the point where you think you have been sent the wrong tips in the box. Also the L-R marking is absolutely invisible as usual - the red Sharpie is your friend. This is outrageous for $200 IMO. Having said all this, they do sound good, but why does the attention to detail have to be so lacking with the ChiFi??
Off to buy the Kato's and Quarks.

Ordered over a week ago from APOS (which should really make it known they have a china warehouse vs having me buy IEMs and getting chinese 4px tracking but their about me says CALI.. BRUHHHH) anyway i did that mistake with arias but this time i was ok with the wait but still... for anyone else they really should advertise your purchase may ship from China. Some of us will gladly pay more for stateside stock.... end rant...

Very engaging, but so forward it can get harsh to my ear.
Just order new set of filters. Even though I like my one a lot there seems to be some filter imbalance on the same filters. For example if I switch the filters the other way I can now hear the imbalance on the othersidr aswell which proves the filters on my one aren't 100% accurate. You may find a more warmer sound on your next set of filters so it's worth a try.
Did you need to burn in the Kato / Quarks ?
The KATO is almost exactly the same as the Aria they released not too long ago

Etymotics ER4SR cable is why I stopped using those earphones. They want $50 for a replacement cable they KNOW is going to break because they are so frail.
Quarks are good for their price, but I'd rather pay an extra $10 and go for a QKZ VK4. Anything made by Moondrop gets a little overhyped these days
No theme review said it's good if you need something neutral regardless of price. But I don't need anything neutral. I'd spend $8 an hour and get this ccz, coffee, Bean or $14 more for ZEx
For me my favorite budget set is the Jade Audio EA1. It had no right sounding as good as it does for $26. I paid $40 when they were released and the price/performance ratio is still unbelievable. And I own over 40 sets of iems in all price categories.
Maybe could help just got kato and can't determined on the cable which is right or left. It saids its marked on cable but I don't see it anywhere

Quarks are great for the price, but I just got my pair from amazon and they don't compete at all with anything above 30 dollars IMO. They sound fairly neutral and cold. Definitely needs a warm amp to liven them up, which at that point, just buy something more fun.
