Thanks for your comment! I'm not an expert of music (instruments, and so on), I make myself content with hearing and enjoying :-) Of course I agree with your words.
I love this song. I was almost called Ruby Tuesday by my mum and i live in the neighboring town to where Rod Stewart grew up, he is amazing. My mum saw him in town once and got to talk to him years ago
Apparently Rod originally had to change the chorus to “Groovy Tuesday” due to copyright issues with Bernard Matthews (“bootiful turkeys”) who owned it at the time. Mick Jagger intervened directly with Billy Ocean and Fatima Whitbread and Matthews backed down provided Des O’Connor did three turkey ads and Stewart did not have chickens in the video for the song. Glad it all worked out as it’s a masterpiece.
When I was at university I made a joke one day. And the joke became a fantasy. And the fantasy became a river that took me to a destination. I told my friend that one day, when I graduate in what seemed to be the far distant future, I'd drive away from the university, from our city - and away from everything - loudly singing Goodbye Ruby Tuesday with all the windows open, and the stereo turned full volume. We'd sing it, together, I said. Crazily and with wild abandon. And never look back. We joked about that fantasy, and then believed in it. And yet, when I finally reached that destination, I left without a sound. But the music played in my mind as I drove away in silence, and it still does. And it still makes me smile. I couldn't have chosen a better sound track for a fantasy. I still love this song, even after all these years.
Your story sounds great to me - this song opened up lots of freedom in my heart as well. I think I first listened to it around 1995. The arrangement is awesome, nothing shy of a great classical piece.
"She would never say where she came from Yesterday don't matter if it's gone While the sun is bright or in the darkest night Nobody knows she comes and goes.. Goodbye Ruby Tuesday who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day still I'm gonna miss you Don't question why she needs to be so free She'll tell you it's the only way to be She just can't be chained to a life where nothings gained And nothing's lost at such a cost Goodbye Ruby Tuesday who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day still I'm gonna miss you There's no time to lose I heard her say Catch your dreams before they slip away Dying all the time lose your dreams and you Will lose your mind ain't life unkind?.. Goodbye Ruby Tuesday Goodbye Ruby Tuesday Still I'm gonna miss you Goodbye Ruby Tuesday who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day still I'm gonna miss you haah Miss you.."
A masterpiece. From the arrangement to the heartbreaking interpretation by Rod Stewart, this is the definitive performance of a brilliant song. Nothing against the Stones but this version is far superior to the original.
Simply the best version
The string arrangements give unusual strength, depth and sweetness to the voice of Rod Stewart. Great version.

A very nice combination of the song, the singer, and the orchestra.

Complemented forever song😊
You add so much to this song ! Thanks, Roddie boy !

Meravigliosa interpretazione.
I absolutely love this song
"She
would
never
say
where she came
from
Yesterday
don't matter
if it's
gone
While
the sun
is
bright
or in the
darkest
night
Nobody
knows
she comes
and goes..
Goodbye
Ruby Tuesday
who
could
hang
a name
on
you?
When
you
change
with
every
new
day
still I'm gonna miss you
Don't
question
why she needs
to be so
free
She'll
tell you
it's
the only
way to be
She
just
can't
be
chained
to a life
where nothings
gained
And nothing's
lost
at such
a cost
Goodbye
Ruby Tuesday
who
could
hang
a name
on
you?
When
you change
with
every
new
day
still I'm gonna miss you
There's no
time
to lose
I heard her say
Catch your
dreams
before
they
slip away
Dying
all
the time
lose your
dreams
and you
Will lose your
mind
ain't life
unkind?..
Goodbye
Ruby Tuesday
Goodbye
Ruby Tuesday
Still I'm gonna miss
you
Goodbye
Ruby Tuesday
who
could
hang
a name
on
you?
When
you
change
with
every
new
day
still I'm gonna miss you
haah
Miss you.."

Brilliant Trevor Horn production...thanks for posting
La più bella in assoluto. Mi rivedo sulla moto quando volavo dalla mia ragazza. Correva l'anno 1969, il 29 luglio.
