The pub scene reminds me of a joke: A vampire goes to a cafe and asks for a cup of hot water, the bartender thinks it's an odd request but gives it to him and asks why he wants hot water and the vampire pulls out a used tampon and says "I'm having tea". LOL.
Oh my God I used to vhs tape this show and me and my friends would watch it and then go skateboarding all day, damn good times, this show is STILL ahead of it's time in 2022.🤘
Just to set the record straight here, the cornflake guy and policeman sketch is meant to be a parody of the British police force which at the time was seen as inherently racist, get it? Not just a sunglasses goof. It's because of this misunderstanding that the sketch is always cut from reruns which ruins the episode.
It's nothing to do with any "misunderstanding" on the part of the BBC, it's all to do with political correctness that leaves the BBC treating its viewers like children.
Dominic Lloyd You could maybe see the point of cutting that bit out in the States, as they wouldn't be aware of the context. But there's no excuse in the UK!
i had the vhs tapes of the complete season one and two box set- nothing including this scene was cut. Saw this one on gold the other night and half was cut-guess the mystery of why has just been solved.
£28.50 for a pint of purified water, a bag of potato chips especially flavored like roast ox-and a strong alcoholic drink known as BabyCham. That would include sales tax and tip. Waiters & waitresses depend very heavily on tips as compensation-ESPECIALLY waitresses like Vyvyan’s mother, who gave birth to Vyvyan, then worked her way up the socioeconomic chain from “lifting shops” to tending bar. So it ALMOST makes sense.
I think its because when they were repeated on BBC2 in the 90s they were trimmed down from their original running time of 35 mins to 30 mins, I have this episode on VHS recorded in the 90s and this scene is missing in that too, think Gold sometimes shows these edited versions.
Police IQ Shocker!!!! Course you see I look at life like this... Been going out with her for f..n years. Yeah I knew she was catholic - I didn't know the pope was. It's a laugh innit?
Running gag in this episode is that incredibly interesting things are going on around them that remain unnoticed as they are perennially bored. The UFO is the ultimate interesting thing.
wow! i didn't know that Nerds like this existed...what utter tripe--shame on people who could adapt to something much better..say like spike milligan, his antics and jokes were brilliant.. the rest of the "goons" were also brilliant in their delivery , jokes and at least they always portrayed a 'story' very funny stuff, if you guys have not heard of "the goon show", i suggest you have a look,,, awesome stuff which was portrayed over radio for many many years, and so laughable. on screen they were brilliant, shows went for years...get onto it you will learn a lot about "slapstick comedy".. cheers chris h. and good luck. (at least you have the nerve !)

Rik. You changed my life and my kids and I love you
It's kinda touching that way Neil stares lost in thought out his window at night...

Kitchener in the kitchen,
nice. This stuff never gets old. I'm 56 so I know old. 🧙♂️
The policeman is Jossy from Jossys Giants. A great kids show of the 80s.

I've wondered this ever since I saw this on MTV in 1985, are 'meat-flavored' potato chips a real thing in the UK?
Pure gold funny😎
