2:20 I remember going to the shops dressed like that and walking around like that, but my crush was there and saw me... I dreaded going to school the next day but my mum made me and that day my crush came up and said 'hey prick'. We've been together for 24 years now. Thank you Young Ones.
+Rose NoHo what you mean? at the start the bomb's already in front of the fridge....please explain, as the baby airplane at end has always confused me!!! =)
Oh, maybe at the beginning of this version, it doesn't show it.. I had this episode on VHS way back when. the ep starts by cutting to a plain in the sky, dropping the bomb. This question is a year old... ah well ;P
i totally love the young ones, i remember watching this when i was a teenager on MTV. after all these years i still laugh my ass off everytime i see them.
i know some people dont like Alexie Sayle in the young ones, but i find him a touch of genius at times, it wouldnt be the same without his crazy parts.....his jester scene in Sick is pure quality
I think the bomb represents an egg. What the part 1 video doesn't show (I assume it didn't get uploaded for some reason) at the beggining, a plane is flying overhead and releases the bomb and it crashes through the house and lands in the kitchen. So the bomb opens up, out pops a tiny little aeroplane and flys away. Hence, it's akin to an egg.
40 years have past and the world, specialy the west, turned into a shithole alright! I wish i could go back to the 80's because that was the best decade ever!!!
This one is the Young Ones equivalent of the Fawlty Towers dead body and psychiatrists episodes, cracking scene after cracking scene. Tour de Force of comedy.
There are more high quality laughs in this 11 minute part of 1 episode than you find in an entire series of many other, even relatively good, comedies. You can also see very clearly here that, while the other 3 all have their moments and are good characters in their own right, it's Rik Mayall that's the undoubted Sun that the others orbit around.
You had 3 comic geniuses here, Mayall, Edmondson and Nigel Planer, plus at least 1 behind the scenes - Ben Elton. And 1 great stand up comedian - Alexei Sayles.
LMAO..I saw this show on MTV when I was 16! MTV used to show it every Sunday. Btw..the golfer with the red hair and glasses at 2:44 is Viv lol and his buddy that comes along at 3:07 is Rick! Damn this was when MTV was the SHIT not like BEING SHIT NOW LOL that it is!! :-D
@@Ghost-vi8qm ohh... BBC only paid a minimum for comedy shows, but extra for "variety" shows, adding live music made it qualify as a variety show. Also let them have 2 days to film, as opposed to just one day for straight comedy shows.
Almost nothing makes me laugh like the Young Ones. I suspect Gen Z would find it dated. Except Rik is the same hypocritical Marxist so many of them are now which they wouldn't find funny! 😂 No doubt Rik would be an old Brexiteer today.
@@sundaypeople5791 the comment writer was talking about the fictional character Ri(c)k - not the actor himself. I mean it's confusing- some of Rik's iconic roles he played were characters either named Rick or Richie, as some of Ade's characters were named Eddie.

Anyone who doesn't like Alexie Sayle is too young for the young ones... They're probably the ones who's contribution is to quote bit's of the "zany British" script without any real understanding of the time and country in which it was written.
Neil does a decent John Wayne impression
Five Gold Stars, Neil.

That's beautiful, man.
RIP Rik Mayall- the world has lost a comic genius :(
To quote Vivian, selfish bastard! RIP Ric!
Damn! Only took me 30 years, but I just got it. The bomb was an airplane egg laid by the airplane at the start. And it hatched at the end.
+Rose NoHo Likewise.

@Lawrence Ayaan Try flixzone. You can find it by googling =)

Unique and brilliant talent. RIP Rik.
What a title to have, International arms dealer, scrap metal merchant and French cabaret chanteuse.
Well if one profession doesn't pay off there's at least a couple of back ups
dion woollaston Thats true, I always wanted to be a chanteuse.
what a title, indeed...and that was it, the funniest part of all Alexei Sayle's rambling -- the rest was crap!
That's a three-wheeler, innit?
Usually, yeah.
Best Episode ever of Young Ones
I saw Leonard Cohen live in Melbourne
"Reliant, that's a 3-wheeler innit?"
"Yeah, usually"
Love Alexi Sayle!
'Not on the roof, man, put it in the food zone!' LMAO

R.I.P Rik Mayall. You will be missed.
Is the guy playing Mike the same guy who was Dave Hedgehog in Bottom?
9:22 Vyvyan (to Rick): Yeah. Done what? Hippie! (looks to Neil for affirmation). Absolutely love(d) this show. One of the best ever.
"I had my fingers cwost!"
So, wait a minute, did Rik just reveal himself as a secret conservative?
He's supposed to be a hypocritical lefty, who in moments of panic or "push comes to shove" turns socially conservative.
Workshy layabouts trying to get something for nothing, no wonder my grant is so small!
Planer and Mayal making fun of American golfers. Terrific.
Make fun of Lewis and Martin
Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers--"I'm Not A Juvenile Delinquent"
Neil reminds me of Marvin the robot from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.Always depressed

Three year old kiddies digging coal!!!! God I kiss my Wik 😍😍
He came in like a wrecking ball.
dicky and dino...those american accents are brilliant
+dismalsage That is right.
"That's.......tewwiffic!" Rik trying not to let his accent come through. Lol
Ahhhhhhhh.... Love this show!!!!! SPG is my favorite hamster!!! LOL
That's Rick. Wik? Oh forget it put Neil, yes put Neil. It's my surname you see. 😂
John Lennon was probably stoned when he said that
8:55 So that's where Miley got her Wrecking Ball idea from
8:55 I came in like a wrecking ball.
Metal92990 I lost it at your comment XD and I'm just getting into the show too
And the age old question may never be answered
...Which came first...the plane or the bomb...
What's that thing behind Vivian when he says "I hope this isn't a dud"?
....And 30 years later it's still colloquially called the DHSS...

Definitely YMMV on that one. Vyv (and Ade) have the most of my forever love.
Vivian ate it, when the Bastard license inspector came.
The tradesman shtick 😂😂😂
Who IS that guy with the distinctive laugh when Rick pushes the bomb?
5:02 reminds of Andy Kaufman's character Tony Clifton

Rick: thatcher thatcher Typical she has over 400 different phone numbers

That's the gardener from Pink Panther
xD
what's the name of the song that plays when rick is walking past the police officer?
"I'm Not a Juvenile Delinquent" by Frankie and the Teenagers
I don't know who I am!

BBC.
MTV only borrowed it to play on their network

Same with Monty Python. They felt they had brought out their best ideas.
Chanteuse 😂🎉

Forever funny.

It's not a bomb it's a plane egg. Hope 7 years was worth the wait

Mike the cool person
i think you are correct there girl.

Ffs..
Merchant of Death got back to work right away, I see.
That's OK. At least the WNBA has a full roster again. Happy days 😁
Sorry, but Alexei Sayle just WASN'T funny AT ALL
i disagree
His early solo TV series were better. He didn't work in 'The Young Ones', for the most part.
aerialkate that may be, but that doesn't mean he is completely unfunny.
Him doing the tradesman ooh that's going to be a problem is spot on, arms dealer and chanteuse?!😂
redhead golfer is Neil isnt it?
Vyvyan has a Rock and Roll Over t-shirt! KISS!!!
