  • Milicent Patrick was the makeup artists and special effects designer who created the iconic look for Gill-man in the 1954 classic, Creature from the Black Lagoon. So why haven't we heard of her?

It was well known to univeral monter fans, its just nobody else knew.
I've known this for about 20 odd years when I was first getting into horror.
Most people just watch the movie and leave it at that, but people like me if we love the movie it becomes more than a movie and it becomes a passion and I have to research it.
You'll be surprised at some facts about your favourite movies, some are funny others are dark or even tragic but it's always worth doing a bit of digging into.

It’s Bud Westmore, and he has been publicly shamed for not giving credit where it was due. Wikipedia has the correct credit for the makeup. IMDB still has him credited and Millicent Patrick as “uncredited” (because she wasn’t credited when the movies were released). She is credited as the original creator of the costume in the trivia for the movie.
