He's been in prison for 25 yrs, and still doesn't know what he should be doing. Like programs he took, he responded to them what they wanted him to say, BUT when asked basic things, he does not recall what his responses should be. It makes me feel he did not learn anything (embraced it). Additionally, how can you do 25 yrs, and in all that time, never think about what you would say to your victims, because you are extremely remorseful? Scary.
It ceases to be a punishment after more than a few years.

I worked in mental health and this parole board, for some reason is ignoring obvious signs that he has no understanding of accountability or how his actions affected the victim. Every answer he gives is indicative of that, especially when he says his biggest concern getting out of jail is adjusting to technology and not about making sure he never hurts a child again. They're just lazy and trying to get through their shift, they're clearly not paying attention.
He is distracting him. He is clearly playing the role of "im to feeble to hurt anyone" he is full of crap.

I sometimes wonder if the prison system doesnt want to spend $$$ and resources on elderly inmates...medical care/hospice/ burial is expensive and labor intensive

The fact that he mentioned writing in a journal a list of all of the people he talked to that disparaged him as a COPING mechanism really raised my hackles…
I no longer drink any alcohol, but when I used to, and sometimes became drunk, not once did I look at any child in a sexual way.

I was glad to hear the first examiner say drunkenness only lowers inhibitions. I don’t understand how these predators/criminals get light sentences or go up for parole. They should never be released. Never.

I agree with that statement, honestly. No matter how long he sits in jail, it isn't going to change what he did to them. The issue with victim statements is they have unrealistic expectations of what they want. No matter what he sits up there and says, it will never be enough to them, so the parole board needs to decide on their own. As the board stated, there is nothing else they can do to offer programs in the DOC. He completed every program he was asked to do and did not get any disciplinaries in 25 years, which is very impressive. He's 74 and has some cognitive issues; there's no point in spending thousands of tax pauper dollars a year for someone who has a low recidivism rate and whose sex organs most likely don't work anymore.
Except to punish someone who is a danger to the community! Come on lady!

I think you are missing two important facts: First he earns good time, so he may not have much time left to serve, Second, if you serve your full time minus the good time earned, you will be released without requiring any more supervision. You want everyone to get released on parole regardless of the offense so they will be required to report to a parole officer for as long of time as they determine with all additional requirements as the parole officer deems appropriate. You don't want violent criminals to serve their full term and then get released without supervision. It puts the parole board in an awkward situation, but they must do what's best for society, even when it sounds like they are releasing people on parole that don't deserve it. Emotions say keep him in for the full term, but logic says to release him early so they can strictly supervise him. As long as he's on parole, he has very few constitutional rights. He can be monitored and searched anytime day or night.
He should hope for imortality because hell is a bad place to spend eternity

there's this bizarre myth that a lack of forgiveness is toxic for the soul. i don't think that's true. for some people, relinquishing that blame and unhappiness is freeing. but for other people, claiming righteous anger is freeing: it gives them strength and agency to allow themselves to be angry. and that anger creates a caution. she said he will never have access to her children.
if he wants forgiveness, that's what his weird mail-in bible study is for. she doesn't owe him anything.
