Original Description: In July 2022 we traveled to the cordillera Blanca region in Peru to climb Alpamayo. It's affectionately referred to as “The most beautiful mountain in the world”. Itinerary:
1:05 Day 1: Wilcacocha lagoon
2:24 Day 2: Churup lagoon
3:40 Day 3-5: Yanapaccha
Day 6: Rest day in Huaraz
5:39 Day 7-13: Alpamayo
This is a fantastic mountain to climb. I climbed it back in 1989. So good that I then went onto climb all of the gullies

Great video! It brought backing memories of hiking in the Cordillera Blanca near Huaraz. I'm glad to see that Alpamayo is good to climb with climate change wreaking havoc on the planet.

Both _Cordillera Blanca_ and the adjacent _C. Huayhuash_ in the high Peruvian Andes are my most favorite mountain ranges among other subranges of the 8,800 km long Cordillera de los Andes (earth's longest, most diverse and complex mountain system on land)! The beautiful, iconic image of _Navado Alpamayo_ (5,947 m) adorns the cover of many illustrated mountain books and is considered with its so typical great corrugated firn cornices and channels not for nothing one of the most beautiful snowy peaks in South America, for somebody even worldwide! 🏔️🏔️🏔️🏔️🏔️👍🏻

12-hour flight to Lima? I took a 22-hour flight FROM Lima. It was from Lima to Tokyo. Half way there, the plane stopped in Los Angeles to refuel, so they shunted us into a transit lounge for a couple of hours.

No, we were only there for two weeks for this climb. We’re planning to come back and attempt Huascarán.
I used a DJI air 2S, and a gopro black 10 with Enduro batteries. I wasn’t sure if the drone would work that high up, and this was my first time using the new Enduro batteries both turned out amazing! Highly recommend.
@@MeatBonanza Great job, let me know the next time, im doing the same with an Insta360 ONE RS + Google Pixel. Maybe we can catch up on Huascarán.

I Did a trip in south America 3 years ago , did a lot of trekking ( 500 km), one ice summit next to ausangate , climbed also Tugurahua volcano summit ...Also went in the cordillera Blanca and Alpamayo is my biggest regret , I saw that mountain close by and didn't know if I had the level to do it. I am planning to go back to do it...but I am wondering about the level required in terms of fitness, training and mounteenering required??
My team and I have done a lot of mountaineering and have experience with high altitude peaks as a result. However, this was our first ever time ice climbing. We actually learned how to ice climb on yanapaccha. I don’t recommend doing it that way. Get a couple climbs with 2-3 pitches under your belt and then go for Alpamayo

How long did the summit push take?
About 6 hours. We were planning for 8, but the conditions were perfect. No wind and the ice on the face was excellent.

Hey man heard u like powder flutes, so we put powder flutes on your powder flutes. I think the Himalayas are overrated the Andes are vastly underrated at least outside of the mountaineering community.

Visité Huaraz, varias veces. Hacia 1990, en una casa de viajes y turismo, vi una gran foto, enmarcada, con la leyenda, ALPAMAYO, EL NEVADO MÁS HERMOSO DEL MUNDO. Está distinción venía de Europa, Suiza o Austria, si mal no recuerdo. Varias Agencias de viajes y turismo europeas, habian seleccionado los nevados más hermosos del mundo, y, Alpamayo resulto 1ro.

Beautiful. But I have to say, I'm not sure why people go to the trouble of filming and editing, and then bung on some really irritating music, which detracts greatly from the enjoyment of watching the video. I see it so often on mountaineering videos.
I decided not to go with the raw audio from the video because it’s basically a lot of heavy breathing 😂. Still, the canned music does leave a lot to be desired. I’d like to try some better audio mixing, but haven’t gotten around to it

Yes, so long as the ice is good quality, which it was.
Who/what carried all your gear? The movie was rather sterile and gappy. Climbed in 1951 (nearly) and 1957 finally.
We had porters that carried group equipment, and we carried our personal gear.

There is not many snow, isn'i it winter in july ?
Technically it is their winter, but their winters are relatively mild. So you would only see snow high on the peaks. The snow pack was normal for this time of year, but the ice was softer due to slightly warmer weather
Why not show the travails of going back down?
I had that in the original edit, but I removed it. Thematically it kind of felt anticlimactic and added to length. Repelling down was really fun though 😊

you are panning too fast. the place is too beautiful to have fast moving blurry pans like that. slow it down so people can see what they are looking at. as it is it is headache inducing. constantly zooming in or out on every still shot is also horrible. the constant need for motion is nauseating and is like the senses.being assaulted. the place speaks for itself. let it speak. slow down so we can hear it.
