In your opinion how how does Jon Schaffer rate among rhythm guitarist??. I never hear him get much props. I cant imagine playing at the speed he does for a whole concert, my right hand might fall off..LOL. Also is it as difficult to learn his riffs as it looks?? Iced Earth and Running Wild have the best Riff's I ever heard IMO, and I listen to a hell of allot of bands from now to going way back to early 70s.. And yes that Schector of yours sounds great!
I'm a huge fan of Schaffer's earlier works up through Horror Show, and I think his rhythm work is some of the best for the overall feel and melody of his riffs. I've seen him live twice, and I believe he just got so good at what he does that he could literally play for 24 hours solid and not break a sweat! But I, on the other hand, get seriously fatigued even towards the end of this one song. He has some of the absolute best stuttering and weird timing riffs, but ones that don't get too lost in complexity and thus lose the groove like a lot of technical death metal bands do. I'd say I would rate him near the back half of my top ten, and that's after 20 years, and over 3000 thoroughly listened (and studied) albums of metal. People give him a rough time now for becoming tamer and lighter, and I admit his last several albums have been a let down. So I just stick with his older works, there's plenty to listen to.
Dude how do you get your picking so clean and quick? I've been playing again for a month after 10 years of not playing. My gallops are decent, but slower. What's the key? Practice and a metronome hahaha?
You know, I've been playing Iced Earth songs for so long, from back in 1999 or so, that I honestly barely remember how I started learning their type of riffs. I will say that about 5 years ago I completely relearned my right hand technique because I used to hold the pick weird (check out my earliest videos) and I used to do triplets with true alternate picking (literally ever hit of the string was up-down-up-down so that one triplet started with a downstroke, then the next triplet started with an up stroke), instead of resetting with each triplet like most players do. I'm no pro at it, and you can hear a few misses on this video, but I do okay. Just keep practicing, and go slow! Don't watch your left hand, only your right hand. Shred on dude, and thanks for the comment!
It's a Schecter signature model called Jaws of Death, made for GWAR. I'm not a huge fan of GWAR, but this guitar looks and sounds so amazing, and is still simple enough in design, that I had to get one!
Hell yea🔥😁

@@jessehuxtable I play lefty...so I'll watch my left. But I'll take the advice lol.
@@jessehuxtable It hurts me that you are calling those 32nd note gallops "triplets" but regardless
your picking tecnique is fucking crazy dude
Thanks so much!! I'm always working on that, trying refine and get more articulate all the time. 😎👍
What guitar is that? It looks awesome!
