At most, prayer helps the person who is praying feel calm and centered. To the ones she is praying about/for, it only helps when they know they are being thought of and wished nice things for. So, it helps them a tiny bit. Mary was grieving loudly and hysterically but had almost no strength to give to her children. She left them in the wilderness. In a way I can relate with Georgie, when my Dad passed away, I felt like I needed to step up and be the emotional support, especially for my Mum, who took it the hardest, and then there was my older brother with autism who clearly didn't understand the concept of death. It all happened just 2 weeks before my 18th Birthday, and given how quickly everything happened, this left me with really only a day to mourn, because I was so worried about Mum, thus had to try and explain everything to my brother because Mum was too upset, and all his question were just making things more depressing.
But Mary religion is a joke. Sure you can have your religion and believe in it, but you CANNOT Force your family members to accept and believe in it as well. That is not your job!!! And if your family members choose to not accept your religion, well you cannot do anything about it. Religion is supposed to be a PERSONAL belief, not a crusade!! IF you believe that I am going to go hell, well, that is YOUR opinion!! It is not my opinion or belief. This is whay I always hated Mary the religious Nutter in Young Sheldon. The rest of the cast was wonderful!!
Wrong. It is the responsibility of parents to raise their children with a belief in God. The children can decide when they're older whether to keep believing. And Jesus instructed his followers to spread the Gospel, which is how Christianity became the largest religion on the planet. Please educate yourself.
@@joan-annebross9217sure, but this isn’t the 16th century. This is the modern era where the people no longer appreciate being forced into things. Religion for me wasn’t forced it was a choice. If Mary wasn’t so forcing maybe her children would accept Christianity more. But that’s not what we see.
I think a lot of people diss Mary's belief but take it from her perspective. She's worried about her childrens soul and its horrible when your panicked and everyone treats it as if you are being silly. Its real to her, she's trying to help her children.
even if christianity were right, her children are not gonna die tomorrow, but they are hurting today. if she's worried about their "soul" and not about their grieving process, she IS being silly. irrespective of her faith.
I don't think the issue was her beliefs.. No one told to stop praying for them.. But when everybody was grieving, she almost didn't bother about or care to even ask her kids how they were doing after losing their father.. All were hurt nd they needed to be there for each other.. Mary could have patiently nd lovingly spoken to them nd explained to them why it means so much to her instead of just forcing it on them nd then getting upset nd abandoning them when they said no! Yes she's falling apart nd it hurts more if your kids speak like that but her just leaving them there without even talking to them properly nd forcing her beliefs on them didn't help either!

Mary always expect everyone to be ok about this when all she was really worried about was Sheldon, everybody was grieving and she was only focused on the baptized and worrying about Sheldon when she has a whole family to worry about
Think for a sec instead of always bashing Mary. Her husband just died, she's a very religious woman in a time where religion was pushed down in your throat. She's thinking what if her children die unexpectedly like George and they're not baptized. It means they'll not go to heaven and they'll not get to see each other again. She just got a reminder of their mortality and this is her way to make sure a goodbye on earth is not a goodbye forever
Also she's clearly grieving too. Now if you expect her to be her old self 2 days after her husband died than it's a 'you' problem. You cannot help anyone until you help yourself
@@arya3193 i know she is also grieving I understand that, but in a episode after this she was talking to her mother saying she is worried about Sheldon and Meemaw said that she has a whole family to worry about not just Sheldon, Mary also said that Missy, Georgie will be fine while they weren’t fine, she was pushing them off only focusing on Sheldon, and I’m not bashing Mary I’m speaking the truth, many people don’t want the truth but the truth is the truth

Yes she over did it and forgot that her other children, despite being more capable, still needed her and I think the show does a wonderful job of showing each characters flaws. We are only human. The "okay....sorry to interrupt" he said that with so much sadness

Why did this actually made me have tears…
I loved my dad. And when he died, it just took the light out of my life. Somebody asked me how I’d managed to cope so well, and I looked at them like they’d turned green. Coped so well? I listed to his heart stop when the cancer killed him. Silence is the worst sound in the world when you have a stethoscope on the chest of someone you love. Coped well? I kept my mom’s power on, the mortgage paid, water and sewer, dealt with the death certificate and getting things moved into mom’s name. I went to the grocery store, the mailbox, and work. Mowed the grass, trimmed the yard, put food in front of mom. Coped? All I wanted to do was curl up in a ball and cry, but I didn’t have anyone to lean on. It’s amazing how your friends disappear when you’ve moved home to look after your dying dad. People act like I had a choice. I didn’t. And nobody asked if I was okay, and I wasn’t. I feel ya, Georgie. Hugs from one first born to another.

They need both their mom and her prayers. So many people don't understand what power prayers have.
Wrong. It is the responsibility of parents to raise their children with a belief in God. The children can decide when they're older whether to keep believing. And Jesus instructed his followers to spread the Gospel, which is how Christianity became the largest religion on the planet. Please educate yourself.

even if christianity were right, her children are not gonna die tomorrow, but they are hurting today. if she's worried about their "soul" and not about their grieving process, she IS being silly. irrespective of her faith.
