This is the 10th video I’ve watched in your channel. I subscribed because I really enjoy your content. When I was 23 years old I moved to New York City from another country, no parents, no sister, no language skills, but alone, with $545.43 in my pocket and a green card. Fast forward 4 years and I’m in college studying Law. Getting out of our comfort zone is always good.

Why did they move for just 7 months though?
Probably for a sabbatical leave/ study time given to professors at colleges and universities in the USA. After so many years of teaching at a university, faculty members are entitled to 6 months or a year of leave to pursue their further studies in another location such as a university in a foreign country. Perhaps one parent is going there on such a sabbatical leave and taking the two kids as an educational opportunity for them both. You can read up on this practice in the USA just by Googling "sabbatical leave".
I just discovered your channel and realized that we were in France at the same time for a few days. I visited in March 2019 and it was probably one of the best experiences I've had :)
