Thanks Dave for sharing. Very bold trip but i know you spent much of the last year getting the car ready - and it clearly paid off. As the (23 years) owner of another TR4A IRS i was very interested. I will also be interested in your epilogue. Hoping you tracked metrics like MPG, oil consumption, engine temps, etc. All the best. Bob
Hi Bob, I’ve started posting videos wrapping up my thoughts on what I think we did that worked well and what we could have done better. The short answer is that the car ran perfectly the whole trip with absolutely no problems. I bought 3 quarts of Brad Penn 20-50 wt. oil and used about 1-1/2 quarts. It didn’t use any going west until the speed limit increased to 80 mph is Wyoming. Overall gas mileage was just about 28mpg. There were a 11:11couple of times I hit 30 mpg going 70 mph. We brought waaay too many clothes though. It turns out every hotel we stayed at had a guest laundry!
Thank you Dave for the ups and downs of your trip. Looking forward to your next adventure. Will you be at the TRA National meet at Mohican State Park next year? If so, will try to meet you there. This was a great excursion!
Nick, I just read your comment. I didn’t make it to the convention. The only other trip I did was the 6-pack Trials in Indiana. PA.. The car ran perfectly the whole trip and used about 1-1/2 quarts of oil and averaged about 28 MPG. Can’t wait till next driving season! Dave

Thanks for taking us along on the trip Dave. How much oil did you use during the trip? How did the car hold up, need any repairs after?
Dave would it be possible to post a picture of the whole route of your trip?
I will see what I can find,
