My man! Love this. Never apologize for what you busted your ass to get. If you love it, that’s all that matters. I’ve been debating purchasing this 4K disk player

You can use it as a region free player too. When you have a region B/C blu-ray just push the Stop button once and then (you must see "Stop" showing on the ub820) then push the "Top Menu" button about 5 to 7 times(while a region b/c disk is in the ub820) the machine will then reboot and your region b/c disk will play! Second Sight films play beautifully! This is a fantastic player, had mine for 4 yrs so far. Enjoy!✌️
Very nice pickup. Make sure you enable the HDR Optimizer to maximize the performance of your investment. Paired with your Sony A95L that picture quality will be sick. Keep up the good work 🍺
No, you want to disable the HDR optimizer. The feature is only good for projectors and older less performing HDR displays. It will cause your HDR content to be dimmer, and not use the full ability of the A95L.
@@AllAboutTKKDon't listen to that last statement - you DO want to use the Optimizer, and in your case, it should be on OLED in the HDR Display Type menu. Your Sony is an OLED, right?
I LOVE my Panasonic ub420 it upscale my dvd to 4k output really amazing beautiful pictures. I even started buying dvd because they're cheap and affordable with Panasonic ub420 it's a blessing. My dvd looked soo beautiful even better with bluray. Let's support dvd again before they became extinct.
Great content for those who still spin our discs! If you decide to use HDR Optimizer, don’t use the OLED setting since it’s for 1000 nit or below displays. Try out Super High Luminance setting - but the A95L’s tone mapping may be better with it off.
That's not how the Optimizer works - I use the Middle/High Luminance LCD setting on my UB9000 because of the Samsung 8 Series panel it's hooked up to, and the way it works is that the Optimizer, depending on the choice you make in that HDR Display Type menu of the player, takes very high nit content and brings it down to the level determined by that aforementioned setting in the Panasonic - FROM THERE, your display does the rest of the tone mapping to its best numbers. So, in the case of the Middle/High and OLED settings of the player, the Panasonic brings very high nit content down to 1000 nits and then the DISPLAY takes over from there. If the video creators Sony is an OLED, the Panasonic HDR Display Type should be on "OLED."
I wish panasonic would bring their sets to the American market. One thing about living in Europe is they had every model with different sizes. It’s more variety.
@@MikeMargolis-j8f I may not have explained it correctly, but the point is that the OLED setting brings the content down to 1000 nits, which is lower than what the A95L can achieve. It can achieve 1500 cdm2 in small windows and 1350 cdm2 in a 10% window. Do you really want the player taking over for content above versus Sony in Gradation Preferred? That’s why I recommended trying Optimizer set to Super High Luminance LCD (1500 cdm2). That way the Sony handles the tone mapping up to that point.

My wife and I have a huge collection of anime on standard DVD. I hear the Panasonic upscaling is really great. Looking forward to a more in depth review! Would love your opinion on watching different disc formats. Been loving my LG G3 too!
The DVD upscaling on these Panasonics that have the HCX processor, such as my UB9000, falls far below other Ultra HD Blu-ray players, and even compared to older Blu-ray players - to start with, the Panasonics introduce some aliasing (jagged edges) on certain discs, and from time to time, some DVDs on my UB9000 exhibit really weird artifacts like a freezing distortion, as if the processor can't decide if it's film or video content. I also see annoying moire patterning in certain scenes on discs, such as those with a fence or gate - this DOESN'T happen watching those same discs on a Cambridge Audio CXUHD (which is a clone of the Oppo UDP-203). The Panasonics also don't allow you to stretch 4:3 DVDs to fill the screen without pillarboxing or zoom in on non anamorphic DVDs, which the Oppos, Cambridge, Reavons and Panndes can.
I agree that the Panasonics have far too many settings built into them - I have the UB9000 and the menu structure is too complex and unnecessarily complicated. In comparison, MediaTek based players from Oppo, Cambridge, Reavon, etc are SO much easier to set up and use. Instead of putting three hundred different picture modes to choose from when watching discs, maybe Panasonic should have offered a way for full screen and non anamorphic DVDs to be altered, like the aforementioned brands do.
I had this player for about a year and it's definitely a good player, Actually like everyone says it's "Fantastic" I only play 4K in this and I play my Blu-ray and DVD in my Sony Blu-ray player. It's less wear on my Panasonic 4K player. But I also play special Blu-ray in this unit to.
You should really take advantage of the dual HDMI outputs on the Panasonic UB820. Not many players offer you this chance. So, use the first HDMI out from the player to the TV; then, use another cable from the HDMI Audio only on the player straight to the receiver's HDMI input (in its dedicated Blu-ray input, if you have one). Do not forget to go into the player's settings and change the secondary HDMI output to Audio Only. This way, the TV will handle the video and the receiver will handle only the audio. I’m forced to be creative, I’m not running a channel where I’m showing content that other people have made, making my own content. That’s why..
@@AllAboutTKK oh I'm sorry I didn't knew they were doing that to your videos (I didn't expect that) because every video I've seen of the ub820 them showing blu-ray content to prove how great it looks well are still up so i didn't thought of that because of that but I believe you because I know they can do that,I'm sorry I hope your channel keeps on growing
@LuisitoRodriguez. Don’t have to be sorry, I was just explaining the why, no hard feelings.
Content can’t be played when monetized otherwise the creator can make no money from the content, that’s how this game goes.
The Sony ubp-x800m2 is better. But id take a panasonic over samsung or lg bad blu ray players
What makes the Sony better in what metrics?
@@AllAboutTKK image quality is about the same for blu rays. But for music cd playing it doesn't display the song title or artist. Sonys have no problem in this regard.
@@luis6024 gotcha. Thanks for the context.
Denon 6700h @ adorama for $1500...
? Context.
You said in the vid that your receiver was producing a consistent white line on your display
I don’t need to buy another one though, I ran the ports to the tv directly.
If I bought another receiver I’d be going straight to the top and would be doing another overhaul.
But I appreciate the recommendation.
