I really enjoyed this video, loved the site with saunas and the fjords the northern lights looked amazing, can’t believe how expensive everything is for you. Loved the journey into Finland and seeing Santa, Mandy’s face was a picture. I’m starting to watch your videos again but I’ve away to go to catch up xx
One of your best if not the best video you have ever produced. Plenty of factual information and the type of information anyone venturing to the artic circle. Did you not want to visit Nordkap. Well done more of this please
I absolutely loved this episode. As a married man, 54 with two girls, I also would have done what you did. Definitely would have seen Santa. It looked magical and takes us all back to our childhood dreams. Well done John and Mandy, brilliant stuff.
We went north of the Arctic during June a few years ago and was lucky have clear sky's for 3 days which meant we watched the sun going around the sky for the 3 days, on the second night I recorded the whole event by recording the sun for 15 seconds every 30 minutes giving a 6 minute film. Lovely thing to see and quite strange to have light for 24 hours a day. We also noticed when wild camping that Saturday night seemed to be when the young ones go a little wild and drunk, they seemed to love doing doughnuts in thier cars (I think they think they are rally drivers) So when we parked up I always had a look at the ground to see if I could see evidence of this lots of beer cans, tyre marks in the ground etc. So Friday/Saturday we always found a nice place well away from anyone and then came out on Monday morning, Happy days ;-)
Don't want to worry you guys, But I stopped in a place called Arvika Sweden (in the south), I parked with a German couple in a van next to the lake, just on the outskirts of town wild camping and made the mistake of doing it on a Saturday night At 1;00am in the morning five guys in a volvo (they all have them) pulled next to my van and throw pizzas all down the side of the van, then screamed and shouted at the Germany van and pulled next to them with music at full blast, the next morning the place was covered in beer cans, pizza, McDonnells rubbish, we both picked it all up and put it in the bins, really sad in a way and we never went back to that town again.
I have a short list of things to eat while in Sweden, well, scandinavia. The top of the food, as you were. 1) Kebab pizza. It is Nr 1 on our favorite pizza-list. 2) Ostkrokar /cheese doodles. They are NOT the same as everywhere else. 3) Marabou choclate. ANY kind, my personal fav is Daim. 4) Pölsa. This is a bit out there, BUT it is easily heated, served with boiled potatoes and pickled beeet roots is it just... Very swedish and SOOOO good. If you can find home made, that is devine. It is NOTHING like haggis, even though they look the same. 5) Green mold cheese. In fact, ANY cheese. We do love our cheese. Präst or any moldy one. 6) Smoked sik (white fish, very common) My god, one of those on hard bread with mayonaise? Nomnom. (You have to pick out the fish.) Have a good trip! /Catta from Sundsvall
Fantastic trip you’re making 👍 We really love your warm and natural way of doing these films. We are new to your channel, so we have a lot to catch up😃 Cheers from a Swedish family 🍻
Heisann John and Mandy. 🐥🐣💛 So great of you to visit Norway on your long journey through Europe. Yes, alcohol and tobacco are expensive in Norway. But your beer Mandy is a Norwegian beer brew from Bergen on the west coast of Norway. Norway's first capital city. Thank you very much for the experience, hope for more great trip experiences from you. Love from Norway and the Helgeland coast in The North Norway. 🐣🐥💛🇧🇻💋🙏🐮🤠
Lovely episode! I love the area between Sweden and Finland, especially during summer time. I spent my childhood in this area. My father is from Övertorneå (Sweden), approximately 50 km south of Pello. And my mother is from a small village just outside of Pello, on the Finnish side. I strongly recommend you to come back in the summer.
hi john and Mandy brilliant video i would definitely move to Norway,,if it was not for the beer prices ,,john you said why cant all the sites do this can, you imagine that site in uk ,,it would wrecked ,,in a week ,,keep the great vids coming ,,love em ,,
Thanks for another epic vlog. Some 30+ years ago, a friend of mine was stranded in Oslo for a week and a room in a standard hotel was 111 pounds a night. The shipping agent invited him to his house for dinner, as a thank- you he took a bottle of normal whiskey he purchased on the ferry on the way over, The host said he could come to dinner for a week!! The whiskey was over 70 pounds a bottle in Norway. One of the most expensive countries in the world. Stay safe & enjoy.
Them Northern lights are awesome John & Mandy...........its great seeing you visiting Santa's Grotto.........also I see your are both eating well.........stay safe........thanks for sharing
Hari OM New subby here - came via Alex's van build channel then his connecting up with you - and have now spent a wonderful week binging on all your vids from the past three or four months. Love your style, enthusiasm, generosity of spirit... and as someone who has favoured "one-pot wonders" for many years, am loving the cook-shots!!! Am loving travelling by proxy through so many van life channels and am thrilled to add yours to my list. YAM xx
Went to Narvik by train from London a few years back, They were building that bridge then! fabulous scenery and great memories ( you were only a couple of Hours from the famous original Ice Hotel near Kiruna) Enjoy guys
I could only see one suspension bridge in the video (at 1:50 ) which is Skjomen bridge (711 m long and opened 1959 ) and located 20 km south-west of Narvik on E6. That bridge can not be seen from the train that comes in from Sweden to Narvik. I don't know what you put in to "a few years ago".... but there are two suspension bridges to be seen from the train. First the older suspension bridge which is Rombak bridge (756m and opened in 1964) 14 km east of Narvik on E6. Right next to Narvik have they build a new suspension bridge that takes over the traffic on E6 (from Rombak bridge). That one is not shown in the video even they for sure crossed it. It is named Hålogaland bridge and is over double the length of the Skjomen bridge shown in the video. It is 1533 m and is the second longest suspension bridge in Norway ....and it was opened in 2019. So I guess what you saw was the construction of that bridge.
Fantastic vlog guys , loved and lived every minute, the artic circle is absolutely amazing,, beautiful scenery and great to see santa brought ut the children in ye 🤣 enjoy every moment 👌 Thank you for bringing me along it brightened up my day no end 👌
Lovely video once again. The Santa meeting reactions were priceless. Excited for the meeting and so serious on the bench. Just like all the kids with 🎅🏻 😉
Fantastic video again, seeing Santa, so Chrismassy, my grandchildren would love this and not forgetting the Christmas house, pizza restaurant. The Northern Lights were so magical, what Wonderful Memories you have.
The new Narvik bridge. I was like my stomping grounds and then I recognized the rest area by Tornio river as I've stayed in Pello by the river for one summer.
Where in the video did the new suspension bridge - Hålogaland bridge - at Narvik appear in the video? The one at 1:50 is Skjomen bridge opened in 1959.
❤ you guys sooooo much..pls keep doing what you're doing...you bring so much joy to my life..and enable me to see So much of the world I may never see..Thank you 🤗🙏💞 xxx
Epic - what a campsite, we did Norway 10 years ago in sports cars but only got as far as the Atlantic Road! We will definitely try this site in 2/3 years time when we get retired!!!!!
Absolutely brilliant! Taking us all to see Santa "at home", the dos and don'ts of buying yum-yum and booze in certain countries (ahem!) was joy enough. The park ups were fantastic and of course I'm as jealous as heck but..... to see the Northern Lights AGAIN was just amazing, wonderful and all round bloomin' STUPENDOUS!! I so hoped you'd get to see them again and I wasn't disappointed. I just hope Coops stayed awake. If he was with you and not in bed, was he spooked at all by them? Thanks again for everything. It's much appreciated. Pam x ~ Cooper!
Just wanted to say a massive thanks guys! My stickers arrived today all the way from Estonia 😊 really pleased with them, the extra touch of the little photo is a brilliant idea! Thanks again, stay safe Ant n Cat
Lovely trip you made. Can tell you that in Sweden one Carlsberg Export cost 14:50 Sek = 1.23 pund. So yes we are a little bit cheaper than Norway :-D / Elisabeth - Naturliv
I often wonder whether folk who live in the arctic circle even notice the northern lights. Excellent videoing again John and you all even got to see Santa. Another destination for my bucket list.
Hi John and Mandy really really great video really enjoyed watching and John jokes lol 😂 really great when you went seeing Santa really looking forward to seeing your next video keep safe 😷👍🏻
New Subscriber to the Channel...... Thoroughly enjoying catching up on all the back episodes at the mo..... Many thanks for the what3Words listings - will make good use of these when we venture off to Sweden / Norway in our van in 2023 (hopefully!) Keep up the great work, and enjoy Finland!

I'm so surprised that there aren't no snow anywhere. The weather forecast for north of Sweden, Norway and Finland has lately talked about snow, but maybe it,s a bit south of where you are. I hope your journey will continue to be nice!
I find it interesting the Norway uses similar Road colour markings as North America, Yellow in Middle and White on outside. Wheres Sweden was White on both like what seems most of Europe. I feel perhaps the Expensive Burger King makes it more of a treat as most Norwegians don't eat out all that often they cook at home and if close enough to Sweden buy groceries in Sweden. Ive been planning to Move to Norway for a few years about a little over one year left and I can go there to finish my University and start a my new life. Tusen Takk "Thousand Thanks" for the video it was fun to watch. Also note Norwegians close to Sweden also tend to buy their Alcohol in Sweden. As well as meats its kinda like stocking up for the month. So they get a fun little trip out of it.
Norwegian here, you are right, also Finland use yellow in the no passing zones. Sweden had yellow before but changed to white when they went from left to right hand driving. The reason we use yellow is that it is more visible in the winter when snow and ice covers the roads. Also it is easier to see when yuou have opposite traffic.
Thanks for another great upload - with the funniest pun yet to ‘finnish’. 👍 The only thing funnier was the What3Words location for Santa 🤣😂🤣 Look forward to seeing more of 🇫🇮
Epic, epic, epic wow. So would you say Scandinavian is better then Manchester (careful)😊.John Loved the way you talked to Santa(baby) and Mandy your eyes were uncontrollable 😂🤣😂. Really enjoyed that and actually just had to watch it again, smiling away here and laughing my head off when you’d finished 🤣🤣🤣. Stay safe
What a fantastic trip you guys are having. I can feel your excitement and everything you are doing is something I would do too. I would have thought the What Three Words for Santa's location would have been Ho.Ho.Ho! All the best, Pete
Just watched you meeting santa... Its a must no matter what age.. Rovaniemi one of my favourite places... Like to go there for long weekends.. I live 650 klm North on the Barent sea.. So used to the cold weather.. Full winter now.. Just a bit of info for you... Norwegian airline fly direct from Gatwick to Rovaniemi in the winter. October till April I think very good prices if you go midweek.. Hotels are very reasonable maybe 65£ double room. Your grandkids would love it.. You can go on snowscooter trips to see northern lights as well... Just thought I would let you know.. Safe journey.. Enjoying your videos.. Cheers. 🍻🥃
I loved this one guys. We are going to do this trip next year, so it’s exciting to see what it’s like. You just would not have got me out of the Christmas shop. I start my Christmas shopping in July each year. I just love it 🎄 xx
Santa seemed very happy to meet you all, who knew he was a secret vanlife lover. Must get boring being on a sleigh all the time🎅🛷🦌 Enjoy your travels and can't wait to see your next adventures! Love you ❤️😘 P. S. Thank you for putting our flag the right way round, our heads were really getting sore 😂😉❤️
Santa was amazing considering how busy he was with getting ready for Christmas Day - I do hope he gets a van though 😁😂 We couldn’t possibly leave it that way with having Dutch family ❤️❤️❤️
Great video -- thanks. Norway is a very sparsely populated, high trust society with vast wealth from oil and gas exports. They have high wages and so have high spending power, hence everything is relativley more expensive compared to most other "wealthy" nations. I once met some enlisted sailors from their Navy visiting Orkney and they were earning £50K a year but only on duty for six months!
Norwegian here, yes we have generally high wages. I saw in some research that we spend no more than other countries on food compared to the wages. Alcohol and tobacco though, thats another story.. The state want us not to drink and smoke to much :( So we buy in othe countries when we can :)
My best man arranged a mini trip before my wedding to Oslo. The flight from Newcastle was so much cheaper than the bus into Oslo, we had to stay at a youth hostel that was a bit the same price as a hotel in uk. Pint of coke in Pizza hut 11 years ago a tenner. Large pizza 30 pounds. The McFlurry that was 99p at the time was nearly 2 pounds so around double.
So cool to see you post my sticker pack, i recognised it as the only one without an international postage sticker. Välkommen åter 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🤘🤘🤘🤘🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Could you in a future blog show how you fill up your LPG on board tank, what you have to do on the conntrol panel on the pump. I 've never used one or seen how to do it.

In Norway you have to look for the cheapest beer, and is not bad. Around 20+ NOK for a half litres in some shops...Most cost around 30

Wow.. can’t complain about that then. I was speaking with the vet about cost of living and wages in Norway and it was an eye opener 😁
Norwegian here, yes we have generally high wages. I saw in some research that we spend no more than other countries on food compared to the wages. Alcohol and tobacco though, thats another story.. The state want us not to drink and smoke to much :( So we buy in othe countries when we can :)
That’s was so good! Scenery spectacular. Glad Mandy got to see (I know him!) Santa!
😁 thanks Linda ❤️🎅🏻
A very enjoyable watch 😍

Just while the camera was rolling.. it was too hot otherwise
Thanks for watching from Linkoping 😁❤️
My best man arranged a mini trip before my wedding to Oslo. The flight from Newcastle was so much cheaper than the bus into Oslo, we had to stay at a youth hostel that was a bit the same price as a hotel in uk. Pint of coke in Pizza hut 11 years ago a tenner. Large pizza 30 pounds. The McFlurry that was 99p at the time was nearly 2 pounds so around double.
Eeeek.. it is mighty pricey
Great video. Had lots of fun watching it. Pity it’s FINNISHED now 😅 🇫🇮
Haha.. it’s never going to stop 😁😂🇫🇮 thanks for watching 👍🏻

We’ve shown this plenty of times in our travel videos 👍🏻
Amazing ! Love it 😍
Thanks Julie 😁
