Forza Italia! My wife is from there and we just came back after visiting family. Got to talk to Italians during the election. They are a DEEPLY patriotic people. Thank you for this. (I'm Italian). It's so heartening to see and read that there is still people in this world who use their brains and not just repeat slogans over and over again.
I've always voted for leftist parties in my life. This time, however, I decided to vote not for "political faith" but for the actual words that came from the politician's mouths. I agree with much Meloni says, so I voted for her and feel like i can't say it out loud without being insulted (oh yes freedom of speech). I voted her because she seems to be the one to understand the real issues Italy has, in practical terms (bills, businesses, cost of life, demographic fall, poverty of the south compared to the north) and especially about this crazy ideologic regime that has spread everywhere in the western world, taking away our identities, our freedom of speech, our right to be different and still respect each other.
Indeed, Meloni was mainly voted by working class and poor people, while the so-called left was mainly voted by middle and high class bourgeoisie and entrepreneurs. 😂 I think this says it all.
Also, while filling their mouth with words of love and respect and liberty, they (media, famous people and common people as well) are vomiting hatred on this woman and her family like she were some kind of Satan. Oh but they are the ones for the respect and freedom!!!
Lastly, I have to say that I have by now grown tired of politics, and quite disenchanted and skeptical, so I believe that probably nothing real will change in this country not even with this new leadership. Nothing will change especially when no one will be ready to listen. But I feel like this is still something new and I'm glad this gives you hope for a change.

She, Giorgia, is the most impressive politician I have encountered in a very very very long time. There is an old argument whether times produce the person or does the person produce the times. It is of course both. However I subscribe to a leaning in the scale - meaning I lean towards the "person produces the times" side. the zeitgeist of The People can go un heard for decades...longer...until a person comes along. One of those persons, we need more, is amongst us...her name is Giorgia. I would crawl on my hands and knees to vote for her. I love her.
This is a major step in the right direction for Italy and Europe, lets hope more follow this example.

When I read George Orwell's 1984 as a high school student, I thought it was fiction. I am reading it again many years later and I realize that although it was written in 1949, it is probably one of the best political descriptions of the Democratic party and clearly outlines their manifesto.
