So, I've been using a compact drum kit for the past month. Liked it so much, I've ordered a full electronic kit and I can't wait for it to arrive. When that time comes, the first set of instruction I'll sign up for is this cat's. I've already learned so much from him for free (the "Hey, Joe" tutorial made my month) that I find myself feeling guilty about it. Wish there was some place to donate while I'm waiting to sign up for the full package. He's got such an easy and approachable teaching style, I go into every new beat, fill or song with full confidence. Figure I'll be playing the Hollywood Bowl by end of the year. You know, give or take...

Absolutely love that U2 beat. I used to play along with it tapping on my legs with my hands (including the hi-hats) when I was a kid. Years later when I actually bought my first kit and started to play drums I could instantly play it :-)
Was thinking bout buying a full member from you...your very generous,sharing your abuilities..even to non paying people..the many free songs ..thats smart,considering thats how i became aware of you to start with. ..it helps Everyone learn,as well as gets your name out there too..keep up the great work as always...dave grohl f'n rocks...

Excellent videos, I am a Metal fan but you have encouraged me to pay attention to excellent grooves I have not looked at, and your explanations are awesome!!!!!
Kind of saved the best for last. The "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" bit is just a blast to play. My only problem is that I needed to count out loud to get it right the first few times through. Now I'm playing it up to speed and everything, but I'm still counting out loud. Hey, whatever. I'll just play louder so nobody can hear me mumbling: "1-e-and-a-2-e-and-a..."
Have you ever deconstructed U2's 'Like a Song' from WAR? Specifically the tom sections that appear later in the song. Hi-hat stuff is a little tricky as well, but anything you can provide. Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Rob - love your work - recently got back to the drums after 50yrs absence - im now 77 yrs old. Was jazz but now with Rock group 70 80s . Can you possibly do a short spot on the rhythm used on Motorcycle Lonliness . Cover drum vids on youtube dont seem right to me . Its a great beat . Have purchased 6 lessons which are very good - learning drum scores fast !

Rick Beato did a video dispelling the Levee Breaks echo/reverb myth: The reverb is from the manor they recorded the drums in, but an echo was added

On Levee I think if you want to try and fill it out the best option is to play ghostish notes where the extra bass drums are
But that is not filling it out...that is playing notes where other notes already fall. I do a bit of both in the brief example above.
