A stray pittie ran up on our porch 7 years ago today on July 3rd 2017. He was terrified. He was chipped. We contacted the owner but she didn’t want him back. We already had 4 dogs. So, from that day 7 years ago we have 5 dogs. Him showing up randomly on our porch 7 years ago is one of the best things to have ever happened to us.
How could his owner just do that? Just let him go, and to strangers?!? I'm SO glad he found you and your family. You are a hero!

I already told my kid to bring his dogs in before everyone starts fireworks. He's only had the one dog since March, so we have no idea how she feels about fireworks. Better safe than sorry.

I like this kind of story where the animal isn't homeless or a victim of abuse or neglect, and is returned to it's original owners. It's very sweet!
I used to like july 4th but now i HATE IT! Because of ALL the fireworks! We have a dog and she shakes and shivers at fireworks i wish people wouldnt use them. Im glad he got reunited with his family ❤
Consider using some of the tips shared at the end of the video to comfort your dog and make the evening go easier

So glad doggy was found safe and unharmed. People please keep all of your furry babies inside during the Fourth of July festivities. This also includes making sure they have safe places to hide indoors.
This is why, whenever I know there will be fireworks, we stay home inside with our pets.

I think the women who work with him are the best. You never hear Loretta shouting “no, no, no!” around a dog who’s anxious and scared…she and the other women are always quiet and calm, which is so much better than manic energy and non-stop orders. The rescues with just the women are so much more peaceful and soothing for the dogs.

Thank GOD they found him,we almost lost our chowchow Teddybear New years 2024 she run out and for 3 hrs.I and friends walked for miles(I'm handicapped)and use a walker.I got on FB animal rescue and THANK GOD ABOUT 10 MINS LATER,I GOT A PIC SAYING. IIS THIS YOURE TEDDYBEAR HERE NAME.I COULDN'T STOP CRYING .TILL I GOT HER IN MY ARMS.Every where in the world they,are out lawing fire works.We as dog owners must ,speak your NO SCREAM they must be outlawed NOW

Our large dog was terrified of fireworks and being in the country the neighbors went wild. He just shook. The vet gave us a mild tranquilizer for him on those evenings. He got 1/2 of the pill and sat with us on the couch and rested. Would Not go outside. Our other dog goes out (in a fenced yard) and barks and barks at them- she's ready to fight!! He was 100 pounds yet our 60 pounder is ready to take them on. Just make sure to keep your dogs safe, whatever the time of the year.

Awh, glad they were reunited. My previous pitty (my baby!)was also terrified of fireworks and thunder. I gave him cbd and rubbed lavender on him, did my best to calm him. We always made sure the windows and doors were closed, and also played the tv at a higher volume. My current pitty is a big brave boy and isn’t scared at all which makes me so grateful. Hope all the animals that are scared are ok🙏🏽

For almost a week now, we've had people letting off fireworks every night. I'm glad that I make sure my dog is in bed, and sleeping before they set them off. The first night she was barking the entire time those fireworks went off. I let her stay in bed with me, hoping to keep her calm.

I agree. We have had fireworks going off randomly for over a month. It's 8:49 am and some j----s are firing off right now and for last 10 min. My pittie is terrified already. Now I have to somehow convince her to go out to potties.
I'm sure Eldad isn't used to rescuing an animal and immediately being able to return it to it's family! So glad he found Boy and reunited them!
We lost a dog on the 4th of July when I was a kid. He jumped the fence and we never did find him. We were all so heartbroken. Please keep your dogs in during this scary holiday.

I hate July 4 and New Years celebrations specifically because of the fireworks. My 85 lb pittie mix is terrified. I try the best I can with him. He has a comforter in the back of our closet, I put on meditation music and I lay with him in the closet telling him it’s ok. It breaks my heart to see his fear and people in our community laugh about it. I bought him a weighted blanket and it seems to help but it’s so hot, I can’t leave it on him.
When I was a teenager we lost our family German Shepard on the 4th of July, we had no idea he was afraid. My dad took the family to his companey's pic-nic at the lake and we discovered he was gone when we got back home. We searched for him for about 2 years and never saw him again. So every chance I get I remind others of what it's like to lose your family pet because of fire works and I always get reminded every year of just how it feels.

The reunion was sweet, but it never should have happened. Always think of your pets safety before you think of your own enjoyment.
My tv volume goes from 16 to 100. It not only helps my cats it helps me.
This always hurts my heart. I know most dogs are terrified of fireworks and the possibility of them running away is a real issue. I’m extremely grateful my boy isn’t afraid of them at all. Maybe it’s because my family are loud people. It always sounds like we are yelling lol he’s desensitized to loud sounds. Thank you Eldad and hope for paws for rescuing this guy and getting him back to his loving home.
Our little Jack Russel Corgi Mix is super scared of fireworks and thunderstrikes. I just put her in a blanket and create a little Burito. Keep the little nugget next to me. She calms down imidiatly and relax. Also my husband build a tiny saveroom for her under the steps. He used some cheap sounddampening foam from Amazon. Not the nicest but pretty quiet in there. 😋So when she is relaxed ill drop her into her saveroom. Let the door a bit open so she can get in and out on her own terms. Ever since no more problems with her trying to get away cause she cant handle the stress and enters fullpanic mode.

A good tip is to completely ignore the fireworks. Your dog may look to you to see how they should be feeling. Don't look at them when they do this, don't praise or babytalk. I sit on the couch and my dog is fairly good but will want to go in the basement. I put her long leash on and lead her to her bed using a neutral tone. I'm not an expert, just offering something that works for us. I still talk to her like normal but I ignore the moments where she is looking for my reaction. I wish drone displays would take over the fireworks.

Fireworks are illegal where i live. It doesnt stop people from setting them off. The shelters are already full to over flowing and need to take in even more. Dogs also run into traffic with often tragic results. I wish the selfish lawbreakers would just stop setting off illegal fireworks.
It's clown liberal policy to ban them outright. The proper move would be to ban them from being used too close to people's homes. Everybody wins.
I really wish that more people would make the effort to work to desensitize their dogs when they are still pups, to these types of sounds. My little girl doesn't bat an eye at them and I live in an area that will be lighting off mortars in every other driveway. And even my boy who was rescued at 3 and didn't get any early work, is mostly relaxed because of the calm energy my girl exudes. Well behaved and well adjusted pets don't just happen. Do right by your dog and make sure to teach them not to be fearful.

THIS👆will say we rescued ours at 9weeks old and have done our absolute best to desensitize her to these, everything from playing them on the tv, in the car, etc and still come the 4th she’s freaked. So we crate, head in a happy hoodie and it’s dark in her room with music going. Better safe than sorry. If you know your dog is freaked, take precautions head of time, including exhausting them out during that day.

Glad we lived out in the country and had no one around us shooting off fireworks.
Just wanted to remind people that if you practice loud noise with and while young, kittens and puppies will learn that it is okay when there are loud noises. This will help them cope as they’re older and aren’t panicking. Train them early and it is never too late, look for training videos~! ❤
I’m grateful my pup isn’t scared of fireworks (although he’s deathly afraid of plastic bags & bubbles lol). I still keep him inside on the 4th either way. Glad this pup was able to reunite with his family! ❤

Despite fireworks being illegal for use by unprofessional, unlicensed adults in my state, many of my neighbors started setting them off a week ago, and usually continue through next weekend. So my dog has been traumatized for over a week for years, not just one night. Selfish people.

My husband and I both have PTSD from military service. We both hate fireworks. For us it’s movie night or loud music and plenty of dog treats

With my dogs we trained them not to fear fireworks. We have a lot in our area and always make sure to take them from puppyhood to see them. Now they know the sound and know to look up and run on the verandah to watch.! We do the same every time there’s a storm. We take them out and get excited. In 40 years this method has never failed. I personally found cuddling them through it reinforced their fear levels
I've heard that. The theory was that when they see you following them into their safe space or cuddling up to them, it looks to them as if you're scared and in need of comfort too
My dog gets half a trazodone at 7:30pm, a walk at 9pm, then it's doggy music, low lights and snuggles in bed next to me. She still heard them and barked a little but it took the edge off and she didn't go running around crying in a panic. Now if I could just do something about the thunderstorms. They're so unpredictable and it takes at least an hour for the traz to kick in. We tried the wraps and smelling things but they didn't work. I'd do anything for my baby. Her comfort is more important than everything.

Bach’s Rescue Remedy is one the best for helping with doggy anxiety & stress. Works beautifully. Also doggy CBD oil helps to calm & soothe. With mine I have them in the house they look at me when the loud noises go off I go on doing whatever I’m doing it shows them nothing to fear. Momma isn’t scared it must be ok. Hope this helps with your precious fur babies.

I believe that if one chooses to have a dog, you must commit be there for it. If not, then just don't get a dog. I willingly give up going out on July 4th because I know my doggies need me there. It's way more than worth it, considering the unconditional love they give me.
My wife and daughter go to the family get together, I stay home with my dog to make sure she stays calm.
I think every animal I have ever had has been scared by fireworks. Even the DEAF ones! They must feel the vibrations. And unfortunately, besides the township shows, we have some neighbors who celebrate most holidays (or days that end with a Y) with their own firework displays. We do a lot of snuggling those nights!
My Husky had a really hard time when hearing fireworks, from the neighbors.
To alleviate his stress, I would let him come inside the house and get comfortable in one of my closets.
You can also buy the ear covers they sell for grooming. Put some extra padding on the ear covers to help minimize the noise.

If you have to use fireworks then get "silent" or low noise fireworks. Besides being less of a nuisance and kinder to animals, they're visually more impressive and vivid because it's not wasting energy on noise.

This is the first July 4th without my sweet Diamond 🕊️ and she hated the fireworks but loved watching them through the window 😊. The past 8 months have been hard without her but life is still a blessing as was she💛. Kiss your fur babies, stay safe, keep them safe, and enjoy your holiday💖💖💖💖🙏🏽.
🍃Fireworks are tough on dogs as well as wildlife in urban settings. I am sure as humans we can find more quieter ways to celebrate this tradition it doesn’t make any sense anymore. Reducing our noise pollution like Fireworks would be a great start forward 😊🍃
Our Pyrenes scared of firework, rain, thunder all kinds of noises. We put him in his crate and covered it with blanket. That help!
