I did some camping in the pokamoke state park in the early 1990's. With my brother, wife,n two kids. The camping was great n the fishing on the pokomoke river was a real great time. We had my white water canoe n my brothers speed boat a 4man bay liner ... My nephew n I took out the canoe we had so much fun fishing we barely made it back by dark. We saw a bald eagle n deer. N caught n released alot of fish.

Double check your info Rangers at state park say the water color is due to the roots of Cypress trees. They produce a tannic substance that causes the color

Outstanding Largemouth Bass Fishing. Some of the best top water I've ever had. Use to fish here every time we went to Chincoteague, Va. Deepest navigatable river in the US I'm told.

@@JoeHainey sorry Joe I was sort of wrong but sort of right at the same time.
The Pocomoke River is the deepest water for its width in the United States and the second deepest in the world - 2nd only to the Nile River.May 5, 2015

I remember the Country Club being open. It was really nice.

It was called the Nassawango Country Club named after the nearby Nassawango Creek. It was a beautiful place at one time and my wife and I had our wedding reception there in 1993.

Not sure if you know but the building is a sad state of affairs at this point after some misguided youth vandalism. The state bought it, and I believe is turning it into a campground in the future??? You know the speed of gov. so maybe in 15 years...

I used to live in Pocomoke City, and have explored much over the River over the years. I believe that the small creek you explored was Dividing Creek. Depending on the state of the tide you can take a canoe WAY back into the swamps on it.
Fuel is available at Shad’s Landing state park, a few miles south of Snow Hill.
There is a boat landing above the drawbridge in Pocomoke City at Winter Quarters, by the golf course. It saves the bother of going under the draw bridge when your are heading up river.

@@JoeHainey He is right that was dividing creek, which goes way way back off the river. There's a White Perch honey hole when they are running, not to far up that creek. We are on the River almost weekly during the season. It's a wonderful place.
