People don't even blink an eye waiting for hours in rush hour traffic. But if you slow them down for a second on the bike they get completely road raged.
Roads are not built for bicycles. Heavy traffic is unavoidable in some areas. Riding a freaking bicycle on bizzy streets and being an inconsiderate knucklehead is avoidable
@chadwells7562 No, but it is a group of nincumpoops riding down the middle of the street. Then they cry like babies and get confrontational. All the car did was honk his horn. The unhinged cyclist got what he deserved
Your comment is a joke, isn't it? They are the worst. I do no longer ride on roads in Italy because they do not give you any space at all. They are crazy. I only use the dedicated cycling paths in northern parts of Italy.
@@Garfie1d73 Compared to the US, drivers in the Turin area are much more attentive. This morning as I was descending from 700 meters to Torino all of the cars that wanted to pass waited until they had plenty of space.
@@Garfie1d73 I wish I had dedicated cycling paths. I have a shoulder blocked by construction of new lanes, and a 4 lane intersection I have a 6 second pedestrian crossing indicator
In Italy, the drivers are not that aggressive or getting into huge rage but they often don't really pay attention for cyclists, especially in terms of side-space. Spanish drivers at least outside the huge cities are more aware as far as I could experience.
Car driver is speeding as limit i set to 25 miles per hour and cyclist goes to 37/40km/h (which is 25 miles per hour actually), then overtakes putting in danger other users on both directions and lastly assaultting with pepper spray. Complete as**ole right there.
I am a car guy that loves to drive fast (where it is allowed) and a cyclist that loves to ride fast. If you are fast on the bike you eventually hurt yourself. If you are fast in the car you eventually hurt others. Respect the bicycle! It doesnt stink, it doesnt need parking space, it‘s not loud. Your car is a weapon.
Yes a car is a weapon. So your logic is jump in front of it as it isn't your fault when your dead. Classic arrogant roadie. I am friends with the top lawyer for cyclist injuries in Colorado. She told me Cars who kill cyclist nearly every time get away with it, because juries despises road cyclists. Think about who the jury is, middle class just trying to go to work. Your bike buddies take up 100% of the lane doing 20mph in a 35mph. Thus making middle class person late to pick up their kids from school. Who fault is that? Yours! Bottom line, even though you might be right 50% of the time, your bike is ruined and your dead! Who wins and who loses from "being in the right"
@@snowthugs So that gave him the right to stop and pepper spray after he got by the cyclists, I guess he wasn't that late that he didn't have time to be an jerk. The car driver obviously needs anger management.
@@snowthugs 20 mph is perfectly fine. If someone else is going 20 mph, you can go 20 mph too. If you can't fit on the road, that is on you for being too big. A bike does not take up 100% of the lane, a bike is tiny. The kids should be biking to school lol. Why are they being driven. Or you know kids can ride the train? It is always the fault of the driver. Always. I am amazing how much you care for the wellbeing of cyclists lol. You are so worried about them being dead.
@@snowthugsif they’re late picking up their kid after being “stuck” behind someone doing 20 in 35 for a minute (average car cyclist interaction is like less than 10 seconds btw), they were already late…that’s 100% their fault.
Despite that cyclist being frustrated he was better off to just leaving the driver alone, could've been something else than pepper spray like a gun or a knife or a bat.
Yes, there were two stubborn road users. It scares the hell out of you when someone does that and the adrenaline is flower and you are angry but you shouldn't lose control.
It's a bird flock mentality. The get into this big mass of cyclists and feel empowered to take over the road and yell at people. There's a reason they all grouped up to ride together.
Most people driving cars can't seem to control their own minds enough to drive the speed limit and will act like someone who is at the speed limit is in their way. I bike and also drive a fair amount and when I'm in traffic I set my cruise at the speed limit and will be the slowest one on the road, but it is very relaxing. When I'm on my bike I do everything to help with the smooth and safe flow of traffic.
Surprisingly some comments claiming to be from a cyclist don't seem to understand Sharrows. The road here was marked so. This marking indicates that road is not wide enough for sharing side by side, that's why cyclists are encouraged to "take the lane". That cars should expect cyclists on this road. They can pass by moving to the next lane when safe to do so. Following the car like that was unwise of course, but the car was being an asshole first.
Cyclists have as much right to use the road as cars. People are impatient, they were passing another cyclist - the comment section is full of apologists to the driver. They assault the cyclists. The road does not belong to cars alone.
@@Ho-Lee-Chit_Fu-Kin-Fast The road is huge and the bikes are tiny. There is plenty of space. If your car is too big, that is on you. Share the road and ride a bike. Driving a car is NOT sharing the road. Driving a car is taking up space.
the best deterrent I seen for this was a guy I think in Texas who opened carried and wore high vis with the words armed cyclist - as far as I aware he never gets hassle, apart from a few cops. I would say that this incident was premeditated, as he sprayed away ~Trooper

Cyclists were also wrong, look at the way they're riding the bikes, like they own the road.
Yeah, they were. It may be legal where they are. If the lane is narrow then we cyclist can use the whole thing. By controlling the lane, we can prevent a lot of close passes and dangerous passes. I do it all the time. In fact the only time I ride in secondary is 1: If the lane is wider than 14 ft. and 2: When being overtaken and the oncoming lane is clear.

Bikes are considered a VEHICLE, holding to all the laws of the road and can use ANY part of the road they wish, so long as they don't purposely hold up traffic. These guys were single file, moving only to avoid hazards or a slower rider, which is perfectly legal for them to do. Yes, ONE rider crossed the double yellow, which he should not have done, but the rest were following the law.
I hope the driver of the car is held accountable for their actions. This is clearly a case of aggravated assault. However, I will add that the cyclist in question should have just ridden on and not continued to confront that driver, as tempting as it is to get in their face and be like "WTF????". Believe me, I get it!!! I live in Texas and I ride on the roads here. I will not fuck with any motorist here because everyone's armed and you never know. It's just better to shrug it off and finish your ride.
Yep, two stubborn people were involved. They should have let him go and turned him into the police. Always run at least a front and rear camera and let the police deal with them. I was almost hit by a driver who did it on purpose and turned around and came at me again so that I had to run into a field. I've talked to my Sheriff about this, and he told me that if I had a video, they would take action.
It annoys me when people **JUSTIFY** their bad behavior because someone else is bad. Whether it's with their car or their hands. You want a different outcome, start acting like an adult when you drive, and be a team player. Unending conflict is started by people's inability to recognize what they should be fighting for, and using other people's bad behavior to fuel their continuing dissidence.
Typical motorist who thinks use of the public road is their right, and that speed limits are just suggestions, and that endangerment of lives for any reason is justified.
You don't know what you're talking about. This stretch of road has signs that say vehicles must yield to cyclists. Not only that, it's a residential street with blind corners that no one should be driving fast on. BTW, there is a different section of road in this area where cyclists are not allowed to ride, which is why this particular road gives them priority. @@PeacefulCycling Nah they're right, you cyclists act like you own the place and don't consider that literal battering rams have to use the lane too. Stay in single file and stop pissing off people who can seriously mess you up.
These cyclists act exactly how the law requires them to. They "own" the road just as much as cars do, and they're taking up only as much space as they need (Which is still far less space than if they were all in cars)
What the driver did was wrong, but so was chasing him down like that. Let road-raging drivers go, and don't escalate the situation by chasing and yelling at them. It will never end the way you want. Shared roadways like this unmarked cars are predisposed to share the roadway just subconsciously. Yet this person still behaves this way. Very interesting statistical anomoly this one should have their license revoked and a mandatory mental health screening not driving around a lethal weapon.
Thanks for sharing! Not sure what the cyclist thought he was going to do when he caught the driver. You can't bring a bat to a tank fight.🤷 Just let the car pass, don't chase and "scare" the driver.
This comment section is a bike vs car war. I blame both for reckless behavior. Bikers should follow the same road laws and drivers shouldn't be weaponizing their vehicle or pepper spraying anyone unless they are being attacked.
The cyclists were acting lawfully and safely, up until the point where they began acting in self defense. There is no way in which the cyclists are to blame for the driver's impatience, and unlike the car's reckless behavior, the cyclists did not endanger others when they followed the car through the stop sign.
@@difflocktwo that too but its a lot more difficult to change people’s behavior through brute force as opposed to reforming infrastructure. We’ve given people only one option with car-centric infrastructure, its a lot less effective and hurts a lot more people to punish drivers in mass for using the only option we’ve given them. Instead we should give people more options to bike safely, and more people will come. The cyclists almost got someone killed. The driver pepper sprayed someone aggressively approaching their car and yelling at them. I don't see any issue with the driver at all.
Those bikes didn't care about others, this is why cyclists need to have plates also all over the road, turning corners blindly, running stops signs. They want accountability, well, it should be a two-way street
Ah yeah, I can see how somebody would feel the need to defend themselves from inside their vehicle after they first almost kill two groups of people because because they can't wait for a proper overtake spot (like you would when there's a car ahead).
Respect the car because it's bigger it's faster and it can kill you, I will know this first hand my father was killed by a motorist on the Big Island of HAWAII while he was training for a charity ride trying to raise $$$ for a community bicycle shop, his final resting place is in the Military cemetery Punch Bowl in HAWAII, he's in about row 6 on the left hand side of the main gate and is about eight or nine graves in when there drop off some flowers for me Benito Corpuz. Good video because it reminds me, don't argue with any road rage driver. Get away from them. Stay safe. You don't know who you're messing with, just do your best on the road and let drivers overtake you if you can.
Everyone is sick of entitled cyclists riding 10-15 deep on roads made for CARS just carelessly riding along at 10 mph. Some people have jobs and things to do and if you choose to take up an entire lane multiple people long that is impossible to pass on a 2 lane road and dont have the common courtesy to single file and move over then you get what you get. There are numerous bike parks and paths everywhere yet they always choose a 2 lane highway with no shoulder
I've ridden for 65 years, competitively in my 20's & 30's. When are these newbie cyclists going to learn that they don't rule the road. You will always lose in a confrontation with an aggressive driver, no matter how fast or great you think you are...
Cyclist taking up all the road. Car over takes when he had half a chance. Cyclist then gets angry as the cars overtaken him. Threatening behaviour and get pepper sprayed. Karma in my books
Too bad I didn't see this 7-mos ago. I'd say report it to the police as that's aggravated assault. Also, the riders are riding almost at the speed limit of 25mph, the driver sped past in a no passing zone too.

Well deserved. You should be riding single file, not hogging the entire street. I'm a cyclist and driver myself, but I've never seen anyone more entitled on the road than road cyclist tour de France wannabes, taking up the whole road and then scratching your car or breaking your mirror if you dare say anything. Good on the driver, hopefully the cyclists learn a lesson, but I doubt it.
Wrong. They’re supposed to ride in the road. It’s recommended for safety that groups of cyclists ride two abreast in the road. Drivers are legally required to treat such groups of cyclists as they would any other vehicle. Just because individual cyclists often ride to the side doesn’t mean that it’s the same for groups of cyclists. It’s actually safer to force drivers to pass safely and treat a group the same as they would any other vehicle. The law provides for cyclists to ride in the road and drivers do not have some sacred right to the road.

Good luck enforcing licenses and insurance for cyclists. BTW, some cyclists are USA Cycling RACE+ members and have insurance as part of their membership. It's optional not mandatory like vehicle insurance.
To all the people on here saying what's the big hurry. Do you say the same thing when you're driving and the guy in front of you is going 15 mph under the speed limit and you can't pass them?
@cycologist7069 they could have easily moved over and let them pass but choose not to. The point isn't how close he passed. It's the frustration of riding behind someone going well below the speed limit and them acting like jerks about it.
I'm a avid cyclest,,, it's to bad that the group of riders didn't thin out into single file too allow the car to pass safely... al person can see Rider's double'ed up and not allow-ing vehicles to pass... I'd have too say that the group set themselves up too fail. It's illegal too ride side by side in group's or imped on the follow of traffic in alot of Country's around the World,, especially in today's world... play the game and find out what happens I guess. The folk's in the car were probably trying too pass the group of riders for miles after miles and the cyclest wouldn't allow it because of Arrogance I bet...
The driver was a maniac. Drivers are trying to kill you, you do not give them a single inch. So what if it is illegal to ride a bike in some certain way, does that mean you should run them over? If the drivers cannot pass, too bad. Why are they more important than anyone else?
He shouldn't pass them because they were riding at speed limit. He was speeding. And then he attacked the cyclist with a paper spray. That's another offense.
Then you’re a poor cyclist. Groups of cyclists are supposed to ride in the road to force cars to treat them like another vehicle. It’s actually safer. When cyclists are forced to the side, drivers swipe too close; which works for an individual cyclist because they aren’t in close proximity to other cyclists and they have more latitude to swerve. But groups of cyclists are supposed to ride in the road. Drivers are required to treat them as a single vehicle and pass accordingly.
I am an avid cyclist and try my best not to annoy motorists. A peloton like yours in the middle of a busy street seems a bit excessive. But also being pepper sprayed is a bit excessive too. We all have to get along and share the roads.😊
This wasn't a busy street. It's a 1000 foot stretch of road that's a bypass for cyclists to use. The sign saying "bikes can use full lane" is there for that reason.
Car driver is speeding, the limit on that road section is set at 25 miles per hour and cyclist goes to 37/40km/h (which is 25 miles per hour actually), don't you think is excessive enough. If there was a car driving at that speed he wouldn't be behaving like that.
Cars take up a full lane and often move/swerve between lanes, but you believe cyclists must never use the full lane. Your logic is flawed and infantile.
This is a short, residential, narrow section of roadway that has signs at both ends notifying drivers that it's a shared lane with cyclists. There is no need for the car to pass in this instance. It's about a 1/2 mile stretch between two bigger streets with bike lanes. Trust me, I bike this route routinely.
Y’all are missing the point on how to solve conflicts like this. It shouldn’t be a blame game. You can never change individual behavior but you can change your infrastructure to be safer. Bike lanes are needed here. Most European and many East Asian countries have constructed this infrastructure and it is much needed in North America. It’s really the only way to keep our streets safe. But car and oil corporations know they’d lose money so they lobby the government to only build car-centric infrastructure. As a result thousands of cyclists and pedestrians are killed every year
@@joseortega584 Nope. The cyclists are supposed to ride in the actual road when in a group and drivers are required to treat them like a vehicle they have to pass; which includes waiting for an appropriate overtake spot. That’s how the law is set up. The idea that cyclists are supposed to stay to the side of the lane is incorrect. Although that makes sense for individuals riding alone, it’s dangerous for groups of riders and they’re supposed to ride IN the road and be treated like any other vehicle.
If you're a cyclist you are an idiot also. A rural neighborhood where the speed limit is probably 25. The driver of that car needs their face slapped. They're the ones endangering people, not the cyclists.
You’re not a car and you’re not paying Road taxes. I’m sick of cyclist thinking they own the road. Either get out of the way or be prepared for the consequences

No rego, warrant, road user charges, tax of any kind. Sometimes not even a helmet. Then cycling way out from the curb, not looking for cars before overtaking other cyclists. It’s no wonder people hate the arrogance and entitlement of cyclists.
Cycling at 37kph is too fast in the neighbourhood, especially so many bend, junction, bad road cond & narrow road. We here will find any one way several lane road to ride fast at 35kph and above. Not sure what there is to review. The group moved over to pass another cyclist ahead. Full use of the lane is allowed. Driver was speeding, improperly used the lane and nearly caused a head on collision with both a different oncoming cyclist and car. And on top of that was clearly speeding in a residential zone.
Just wear a plate.
You sound like a child and you are a child for feeling validated and given the green light to just toss logic out the window and act like a buffoon. "They did it, so now I can unleash hell." - Always spoken by a child regardless of age. Car is at fault because they have a clear problem not assaulting people. Whether it's with their car or their hands. You want a different outcome, start acting like an adult when you drive, and be a team player. Unending conflict is started by people's inability to recognize what they should be fighting for, and using other people's bad behavior to fuel their continuing dissidence.

The cyclists were acting lawfully and safely, up until the point where they began acting in self defense. There is no way in which the cyclists are to blame for the driver's impatience, and unlike the car's reckless behavior, the cyclists did not endanger others when they followed the car through the stop sign.

@@difflocktwo
The cyclists were perfectly within their rights to ride in the road. It’s not illegal and it’s recommended for safety.
@@keirfarnum6811 I know, but even if we assume it is illegal, so what? It is the least invasive thing, some dudes riding bicycles.
@@PeacefulCycling thanks for that explanation.
Car driver is speeding, the limit on that road section is set at 25 miles per hour and cyclist goes to 37/40km/h (which is 25 miles per hour actually), don't you think is excessive enough. If there was a car driving at that speed he wouldn't be behaving like that.
Should not have confronted the driver. Just let it go.
I am a cyclist but these guys were all over the road , stay in line
They’re going 25 mph in a residential area. Why did the car feel the need to pass?
Cars take up a full lane and often move/swerve between lanes, but you believe cyclists must never use the full lane. Your logic is flawed and infantile.
Dont have to learn the laws of the road
@@CodyKing bikes doing 33kph (20 mph) car passing at 25 mph is not illegal
As a result thousands of cyclists and pedestrians are killed every year
That sounds like too much common sense.

@@joseortega584
Nope.

It’s ridiculous, people need to calm down, it was an inconvenience for what a minute? Which you can easily make up in a car.

Not sure what there is to review. The group moved over to pass another cyclist ahead. Full use of the lane is allowed. They’re supposed to. Riding in a group means behaving like a single vehicle. Drivers who want to pass have to treat it like passing another vehicle.

No excuse for pepper spray and leaving; unless, fearing an apparently angry and aggressive cyclist. Also, where I live it is unlawful to pass by crossing over the center line on a curve. Lessons to be learned by all.
