I always think it is funny how reactors pause right before a part that I love. I sometimes wish reactors would listen once and then react the second time through...
So true. Some of the times she belts out it really sounds like that raw, animalistic sound that comes out when we are crying out in absolute desperation.
Jordan Hill I ended up downloading it on some other music app that I have lol it’s just sorta a hassle to switch from different apps 😂 but thank you 🙏🏼
Carm Elleau, thank you for sharing what she’s like. I love that she’s so humble. She always seemed like such a good hearted person to me. As for her otherworldly talent... she reminds us that a voice is an instrument! She’s so incredible! Her voice is rich, full of depth, and truly truly undeniably gorgeous. What a gift!!
There are people who sing. Then there’s people who can SANG. Yebba sings with her soul, you literally hear the passion in her vocals. I wish her all the worlds greatest joys.
This is an iconic moment that can never be duplicated. She opened up and flayed herself in front of us. And in these surreal moments, we all turned inward and saw the one(s) that came into our lives and absconded with our shit. They had no right to do that and we need to tell them to bring it back. We look at the one(s) who cut off our feet and then laughed when we couldn’t walk...Yebba captured a collectively exquisite pain and nobody will ever capture this experience again.
Lyric Interpretation - Is She Singing About What I Think She’s Singing About??? When I heard this song for the first time I interpreted it as song about a scorn lover & subsequent heartbreak. Yet a couple of her runs caused me pause. I heard a different type of pain ... then the lyric “I sure won't stay, but I'll be damned if I ever leave” ... I had to really sit & think about what that meant. I thought long and hard, her runs are gutturally painful...beautifully desperate cries...a special cry not one even a lover could provoke. These cries came from her soul. Back to “I sure won't stay, but I'll be damned if I ever leave” ... I interpret that as meaning death is inevitable but she’s not going to kill herself, she’s fighting This song to me represents a battle, a deep, intensely personal battle between the will to live and the desire to stop the pain with suicide. There’s a very interesting play with pronouns. For example, the 1st verse You/Her = severely depressed suicidal thoughts seeping into the mind as it often does when least expected. I = rational self, when you’ve struggled with mental illness longterm, there are recognizable warning signs of what’s to come I don’t interpret this as an exchange between a woman and man yet a battle between a rational self & hopeless self. Anyone else interpret this song in this way?
Her Mother committed suicide with in a very short time prior to this performance. Maybe 2 weeks or so, not sure exactly but close to that. So you are resonating for sure. I think maybe its a story of her life and the ones that have broken her heart when they left. Her mom at the end and most painful
This was her first time performing this song. She was signed to a record deal immediately following. She has retired performing this song because of the list. This deserves a Grammy. She's from West Memphis, Arkansas. Daughter of a preacher.
Wow so fast and I told you to bring tissues lol. Glad you picked up the Jasmine Sullivan influence also! If you’re interested in more from her she performs “gravity” with someone named Clark and it’s equally great.
I've watched too many reaction videos of this and I cry everytime. This is her cry disguised as a song and it's affecting me so much I can't help but cry too 😭
I’ve watched by now over 30+ reaction videos to this song and every time i feel like I’m listening to the song for the first time because I can’t get enough. I anticipate the viewers reaction on my favorite parts of the song just to see if they feel the song just as much as I do. (Runs, range, yelping, yodeling, etc) Great reaction video!
I NEED to learn how to sing this song. I'm no singer, not trained whatsoever, but love singing. I've got a lot of emotion to get out, and my favorite way is through singing.
Please react to Evergreen, the beats 1 performance with the live choir recorded inside a church. The acoustics and everything about that video is perfection, absolute perfection.
New subscriber here. You definitely need to listen to her and Clark Beckham doing a cover of "Gravity". They will seriously take you to Church! It's one of my faves that she does.
Yebba's better than Adele. How she's not a superstar....I just don't understand. She's not a music industry pick-me. We still can appreciate her talent, just more won't know about it. Shame......
I'm still at work and haven't had the chance to watch this reaction yet. However, I already liked it and wanted to let you know that I appreciate you following this recommendation!
Grear reaction, MoV! I love Yebba and, especially, this performance. if you haven't yet heard her duet with Clark Beckham singing John Mayer's, "Gravity", this is as good, or better, as this one. Would you please also react to 15-year old, Courtney Hadwin’s cover of Harry Styles’ “Sign of the Times”? She took this pretty, pop ballad and added a bit more soul and grit and came up with a great version of the song. I love to hear this young girl’s 1 in 1 million, powerful, rock n roll, gritty voice even if it’s only for 15 seconds of this song - ruclips.net/video/x9Phi6Yrg2k/видео.html You may remember her as a 13-year old last year she surprised everyone on America’s Got Talent by coming on as a shy, quiet girl (she really is VERY shy when not performing) and then sang the 90’s rock song by the Black Crowes, “Hard to Handle” and won the Golden Ticket. That video became one of the top-five most-viewed in AGT history with 56+ million views!
Wow. This was amazing. What is it called when you make that almost crying sound she did when singing. I thought she was crying at times but was blown away to see she was just singing so soulfully
Yes yes yes yes yessss!!! So glad to see you react to this and so glad you actually caught all the emotion and voice, which obviously leads to you watching/listening to Yebba - Evergreen because it's also amazing.
Never heard of Yebba before, she's the kind of singer I probably wouldn't listen to a recording of but would definitely go see live. How backed up on request are you? lol I know probably a dozen singers I'd like to see some reactor cover but most are only into the Dimash ect. or covering the same artist for the 30th time, views are important but it doesn't help discover new talent either. A couple other shows, other than the Singer that are great for incredible music are Coke Studios Sessions and Nescafe Basement out of the Pakistan, India area. Abida Parveen, is an Icon in Pakistan, she is incredibly spiritual and has a voice more like Jerry Garcia. lol
My list is kinda long but I'm looking to branch out to other counties. The list is also now shorter for some singers and series due to copyright issues. Thanks for the post!!
Thank you for your channel Andy. I look forward to each of your videos. I"m certain you're inundated with requests but I would be most appreciative if you would consider reacting to a South Korean singer named Kim Jin Ho singing "Family Portrait". He was a member of a group named SG Wannabe at one time but is now, I believe, a solo artist. I believe you and your subscribers would find his performance moving. Thank you.
I've had this video saved in my computer for a few years. And I can hoestly say I CRY MY HEART OUT "EVERY TIME" I hear it! I mean EVERY time!!!! Yebba is amazing to me. And there isn't a song that I know of that moves as deeply as this one; that can or would move me to tears.
She is from West Memphis, Arkansas. Mississippi River, not the Tennessee river. Her mother committed suicide right after this performance, making way for the song “Evergreen”.
hi, I'm from Argentina, today I heard Yebba for the first time, and that bring me to this video, I´m a folk singer and your comments were so kind, so emocional you make me cry again through your words. thank you so much!!! sorry for my English.

Hi Andy! Please react to SODA STEREO PROFUGOS 2007! SODA STEREO is a band from Argentina that has succeded in all Latin America. Regards from Argentina!
That's a great reaction, MOV!!!! Her name is Abbey Smith and her mom would always call her by her name, spelled backward, Yebba. After her mom committed suicide, Abbey adopted Yebba as her stage name. When you have a moment, would you please react to 15-year old Courtney Hadwin who did an AMAZING cover of "Old Town Road"? She took this country + hip hop fusion song and turned it into a kick-ass rock and roll song You will be AMAZED!! - ruclips.net/video/anwtg4C0PTc/видео.html THANK YOU!!
Living Well With TJ yes I did and that’s why I commented, aren’t I allowed to hear whatever I want to hear? I am not doing any harm to your life by hearing whatever I hear, so why are you letting it bother you so much? Chill and “live well” ✌🏻

Don't watch the one by Tara Simon, it is quite disappointing
I always think it is funny how reactors pause right before a part that I love. I sometimes wish reactors would listen once and then react the second time through...
paxonearth me right now
"A cross between Adele and Jazmine Sullivan" may be the best description of Yebba I've ever heard.
That was the perfect description
That’s exactly what I said, and when he said it to I was like yes!!!!!
Damn... that was on the money...🤔
My 1st though after hearing her initially was Adele born and raised in the South!
He gained a subscriber!
She is literally singing tears.
"Singing tears"!!💧😩💔 Wow I like that! 🙏🏽
Literally!!🙌🙌 ah! You’re brilliant!
I could not have said it better
The exact same thing I said as well!! I just keep coming back every month or so I can’t get enough of her! 😫😭
So true. Some of the times she belts out it really sounds like that raw, animalistic sound that comes out when we are crying out in absolute desperation.
Evergreen is a song she wrote for her mother who committed suicide. Her father is the pastor at victory in West Memphis Arkansas.
Carm Elleau love evergreen
I hope he reacts to Evergreen! Also, How Deep Is Your Love and Lucky!!!
The first time I heard Yebba I kne she was gifted this is no ordinary range
I was about to write this as well. Evergreen...
Elleau that is not true. You can read it her: www.google.dk/search?q=yebba+when+did+she+wrote+my+mind%3F&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=da-dk&client=safari

MrEric Rockinout yeah I was reading through some comments & heard that story about her mom, R.I.P to her mother ❤️
Yebba is my friend from home❤️ she is very humble and down to earth!
Oh wow! Very cool!
Would you tell her that she is a beautiful singer that deserves respect. Thank you!
Please tell her I love her voice and every song I can find on RUclips that she's on. She's awesome sauce in my book. Thank you
Tell her she is loved!!!

Back to “I sure won't stay, but I'll be damned if I ever leave” ... I interpret that as meaning death is inevitable but she’s not going to kill herself, she’s fighting
This song to me represents a battle, a deep, intensely personal battle between the will to live and the desire to stop the pain with suicide.
There’s a very interesting play with pronouns. For example, the 1st verse
You/Her = severely depressed suicidal thoughts seeping into the mind as it often does when least expected.
I = rational self, when you’ve struggled with mental illness longterm, there are recognizable warning signs of what’s to come
I don’t interpret this as an exchange between a woman and man yet a battle between a rational self & hopeless self.
Anyone else interpret this song in this way?
i resonate with that
Oh, this just put this song into a totally different perspective and I think your interpretation is right.
Her Mother committed suicide with in a very short time prior to this performance. Maybe 2 weeks or so, not sure exactly but close to that. So you are resonating for sure. I think maybe its a story of her life and the ones that have broken her heart when they left. Her mom at the end and most painful
Wow, expressed beautifully, thank you
A Sky with an Alibi a couple weeks AFTER this performance, but I think the message still resonates
This was her first time performing this song. She was signed to a record deal immediately following. She has retired performing this song because of the list.
This deserves a Grammy.
She's from West Memphis, Arkansas. Daughter of a preacher.
The pain in her voice is so heartbreaking 😭 crying like a baby
“Thats that one..” she says at the end as of that was just practice. Wow.
i cry everytime i hear it
Me too
As I type...
Me too. There's no way to watch this performance and not weep. She is laying everything bare. I don't even want to cry sometimes and it just happens.
Every. single. time.
This is why music is a gift.
She is actually not singing a song - she is putting her emotions to notes. Amazing.
Wow so fast and I told you to bring tissues lol. Glad you picked up the Jasmine Sullivan influence also! If you’re interested in more from her she performs “gravity” with someone named Clark and it’s equally great.
Thanks so much!!
Infinite Fantasy Yebba in an interview said she was influenced by The Clark Sisters & Church gospel music
I’ve yet to be able to listen to this song without crying. Man......it really hits the heart.

The goosebumps are everywhere when she hits those runs!!! Shew lawd she has one hell of a voice!!!

God damm 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭, where has she been all my life!!!!!
This reminds me of Etta James live performance of I’d Rather Go Blind...not quite as visceral.
Yes!!!
Yebba's better than Adele. How she's not a superstar....I just don't understand. She's not a music industry pick-me. We still can appreciate her talent, just more won't know about it. Shame......

She is incredible. Thank you for appreciating her the way she deserves.
I forgot all about the singer. She is incredible! Thanks for reacting to her Andy!!
She is so soulful. Amazing!
That pause at 7:41 was ill-timed. You took away the essence. That's literally the best part.
Yaseen Baker I agree 1000% i yelled 😂
Thank you for your channel Andy. I look forward to each of your videos. Janice Grant Thank you 👏🏽 for you know it and understand.
She's more Dorinda than Karen, but yeah...
And Jasmin Sullivan
Yeah a lot of jazmine sullivan soulful runs there...
Throw in some Anita Baker too.
React to Yebba’s Evergreen on Beats 1!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
I think this is the best voice I have ever heard.
She is from West Memphis, Arkansas. Mississippi River, not the Tennessee river. Her mother committed suicide right after this performance, making way for the song “Evergreen”.
Wesley Walker did he not say that ?
I heard it was before the performance not after.
Ellie May 2 weeks prior to the performance.
