This is actually mixed so well! Did you put instruments over the original Version or is this all from scratch?

I made this in MidiClef, using the Tazmily Village midi uploaded in VGMusic, and putting it with the mother 3 soundfont

EarthBound 64 had music? They actually got that far?

    •  11 месяцев назад +11

Yeah, some of it was even put in Mother 3, you can listen to some in the jukebox at the Dur T Cafe

I think the programming side of Earthbound 64 was the (...only?) department that was lacking a lot during development.

There's interviews that confirm that all of Earthbound 64's assets (like maps, models, music, cinematic cutscenes, etc.) were actually fully completed, the problem was it was a nightmare to code and piece it all together, it's a trap a lot of indie game developers fall into, they have fun making all these crazy assets and ideas and then realize they have no idea how to turn it all into an actual functioning game.
one guy who actually played Earthbound 64 around 2005 said Chapter 1 was fully complete and playable, but when he got near the end of it the game just completely broke down and crashed.
Theoretically, if you had one of the few existing Earthbound 64 cartridges you could play it all the way to the end of the game, but get ready for an extremely buggy, laggy mess that constantly crashes and doesn't work correctly. The developers tried to make this monstrosity work for YEARS but when the GameCube was about to come out they finally had to give up.
It's a sad reminder that there's more to creating games than just going overboard with the creative fun part. The technical part can't be neglected like that, or you end up with a mess of assets you can't piece together.
