Thank you for being so open about your experience. It is very difficult for someone not dealing with this to understand. I’ve been suffering with this same issue for years and have felt alone and ashamed. You have given me relief that I’m not alone.
Robbie, I want to thank you for your bravery in talking about such a difficult topic. I have suffered with agoraphobia on and off for the past 10 years, I understand how frustrating and tiring it can be. You are a wonderful, wonderful human being. Feel your feet on the ground and your hands in the earth. Take one day at a time, and be patient with yourself.
Thanks for sharing that,. my wife suffered from this after she was attacked in her own home. And I found it difficult to understand this condition but you made it understandable .She is better now it is like gardening you have to be patience. .
❤ thank you for helping others by making this video. I love your content. Just sad I am only now finding it after years of watching gardening videos. Cannot wait to dive into more on your channel.❤
Well done for having the courage to talk about Agrophobia so frankly. I totally understand how frustrating and embarrassing Agrophobia is. My Agrophobia sessions are much shorter in duration and happen much less often and are much less severe since I had my NHS EMDR Treatment and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Sessions. Hope EMDR therapy helps you too🙏😊
Greetings Rob, thank you so much for explaining that! My late husband could never understand my Agraphia all he could say was you have the right to go anywhere you want to go. I wish I would have found your site before this than maybe he may of understood. (MAYBE lol) I fight this every day but sometimes I win. I bought a horse, so I had to go outside to take care of it, I also now how chickens that I also need to take care, so I am outside everyday weather I want to or not.
I totally understand….. i suffer panic attacks… I can throw up and get diarrhoea too with it. It was explained to me that it is our normal response to danger but mine is in overdrive. If i have to do something out of my comfort zone i have diazepam to take. I can get away without taking it most of the time now, just having it with me as a crutch is enough. I thought i was crazy, weird, mad. All those things till i went to counselling and met soo many people the same. Well done for sharing. The more we know of other sufferers the more normal we can feel.
Your honesty is very admirable. Thank you for your explanation. Cheering you on all the way from Australia. Don’t lose your sense of humour and praying this will pass soon for you.
Thank-you Robbie for this upload👍 I've had this since I was a child too. The way I explain it, as most people are afraid of spiders. Would you go in a shop full of spiders or down a street crawing with them! Good luck to you sir. Btw came here looking for tips on cyclamen I purchased a while back from you! 😀
Hello. I know others have said it already, but a video requiring this openness is admirable. Hopefully the added measures help you feel better sooner rather than later, and in the meantime, I look forward to videos when possible. Take care.
I have been watching your videos for years and playing along at home with my flowers. It is interesting to see that you are struggling with an anxiety disorder too. I take the pills too and I seem to go off the rails every few years and then get some help again. As long as the flowers are okay.
Thank you so much for this. I hope this wave is a short one for you. I do think the pandemic has not helped matters. I have left my property about 10 times since this madness began. Thank goodness for home delivery and online shopping and an understanding husband. I don't know if it's agoraphobia as I don't get the shakes but my heart rate is up for sure when I must leave the house. Thank you again 🤗.
I can totally relate to the running to the toilet. On one hand due to diabetes and nerves my sugars rise and I need to urinate so much when I am out and can't always find a toilet and before I go out I have to run to the toilet a minute before I leave with diarrhoea and if I have to go out without planning, it hits me half way through the journey. I also relate to the fear of people. I hated playschool, brownies, ballet primary, middle and high school, then when I got jobs I was always bullied and sacked etc but when we went self employed I had to get Geoff to speak on the phone. Phones and doorbells make me jump out of the seat and also mail, I hate opening it in case I am in trouble or have appointments. I spent all year worrying I had not done the tax properly and then the next year I would worry about both years and so on. We got fined through a misunderstanding so that was awful. I look at the floor when I walk so I don't see people looking at me or talking to me. I have had a lot of trouble with men in my life and I won't go anywhere without Geoff. Sometimes I am the opposite and get cabin fever. We have to go out in the wilderness as, like you, I love nature and I get stuck in this stupid flat all the time but I still have the fear of being out when I can't be stuck in. I enjoyed this talk lol. Glad to see you and to hear from you.
You are not mad, it’s just a chemical unbalance… same way diabetes is … and anyway, who wants to go out in this lousy August weather? Enjoy a quiet chill and get the milk delivered 😀🥰
Thank you for sharing this with all of us. I have known 2 people with agoraphobia and it makes their life so difficult. At least there is some help out there now. Take the time you need. Sending love from the U.S.
I really don’t know what to say, when others have already added so much. Just want you to know that you always make me smile, no matter the subject matter of your posts, and I am always pleased to see you. I really hope that you are able to get the help you need and will soon be able to get back to enjoying the outdoors and nature again. You may have Agoraphobia and other issues but I think you are one of the bravest people out there (I nearly said bravest people I know! - that is because you are always so open, it makes us feel that we know you 😊) Very best wishes to you and much respect from me, in France 💐
Thanks for being so open about your condition and the explanation. Being a someone who has suffered some different irrational fears myself, I can have empathy for you. I just feel fortunate that my issues are less severe. While my issues do impact my life and I have not sought any help with them, I still get along. I just don't have as much fun as I could if I overcame these occasional fears and issues. Your explanation allows me to better understand what others might be going through. Thanks.
No-one truly appreciates a condition unless they have experienced it themselves but by sharing your experiences you have certainly helped people to understand it a little more. Best wishes.
Hi Robbie (and Stephen the squirrel)! I've just discovered your channel today via one of your videos on root cuttings, you've got a new fan over here! I'm currently studying Horticulture, and funnily enough I also have Agoraphobia. I completely resonate with everything you shared here, and I'm really sorry that you go through it too. I hope your treatment goes well, all the best :)
I admire your honesty and still being able to communicate these kind of things. Most mental issues are probably related though, in the sense of energy supply in the brain. I read this book the other day by Chris Palmer “Brain Energy”, and all those conditions suddenly make sense in relation to metabolism. Quote: “All the symptoms of mental disorders can be tied directly to metabolism, or more specifically mitochondria, which are the master regulators of metabolism.” Maybe you don’t need this, but for anyone who reads this and for what it is worth: what can be done is eating and drinking real food, and avoid ultra-processed food stuffs, refined sugar and above all ultra-processed seed oils, like sunflower oil. Best wishes, take care!
Hi Robbie, my aunt had it all her life but with medication and therapy it was manageable. There are loads of people having the same so it is nothing to feel ashamed about. Stay on top and happy gardening 😊
Very sorry about your ;outside' problems Robbie. That happened to me after the birth of my first child; always had been an 'out' person, couldn't cope. Perhaps Stephen is not a good friend - can you get from house to a conservatory more easily?
Hi William, yes, I do get driven to the nursery and left there sometimes. It’s a different environment but unfortunately the symptoms follow me wherever I go. Same s**t, different place! But it’s lovely to get outside, even if I do shake 🌻
If you leave the house say I put my trust in God There is in the Bible And also in the Qur'an We believe when saying this, the angels protect us from dangers. And we wish you all the best

sorry miss spelled Agoraphobia typing too fast. Keep a stiff upper chin and crack on!
If someone drives you to the nursery are you okay there? Especially in the greenhouse you ought to feel "at home".
Hi William, yes, I do get driven to the nursery and left there sometimes. It’s a different environment but unfortunately the symptoms follow me wherever I go. Same s**t, different place! But it’s lovely to get outside, even if I do shake 🌻
