Orson Bean would’ve been perfect for emceeing the pilot, but Alex Trebek from “Jeopardy” became a regular emcee when it became “Classic Concentration” for a few years until 1991. Orson Bean was killed in a car accident about two days ago after a pedestrian got struck by a car that brought his acting career to a tragic end. He was 91 years old. I hope Buzzr will air the pilot episode in better picture quality in tribute to Orson Bean in the future. The ending at 20:50 is a glimpse from “Name That Tune” with Tom Kennedy.
There where five episodes shot that day. I was a contestant on one of them. Now I realize the *Match Game* writers wrote this show. My episode could never ever air . I didn't find the matches for mother and father or kiss and pucker, instead I blindly chose "mother pucker". The audience errupted in a loud and long laughter. Orson and I just sat there speechless and we continued. ...oh, and I won that game too. Mark Goodson told me personally after the taping that I had done a good job with no mention of the blooper.
Wait, did you, who just happened to get a board with two words that could be put together so humorously, and just happened to pick them--and in the correct order--just happen to find this video, which had been uploaded 7 years ago, just days before Orson Bean was killed? Uncanny. Do lots of uncanny things happen to you? ;)
The Contestants Podiums look like part of a Drum Set, standing drums and Cymbals with Drumsticks are missing, Orson should've had a Podium, some of the things he said about the matches were funny, this game reminded me of The Kids Match Card Games called Memory and Think Again, Wink Martindale said there were about 10 of these taped for Syndication, this version would've been whammied by what happened to his show and others, The Champions (Wheel Of Fortune) and (Jeopardy!), probably no wonder Mark Goodson went with The Nighttime Price Is Right lasting one season, at least Concentration did better on NBC Daytime less than two years later with Alex Trebek and the changes were more easier.
Oh, the juice waltz. That's what drunks in Vienna dance.

As a big Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman fan I am glad I found this gem
RIP Orson Bean. The accident was near my home.

Oh, my! I would pay to see that! They should release the video now on YT and make a mint when it goes viral.
I would assume you, Orson, and the other contestant also must have laughed uncontrollably?

You should play lotto.
@@RetroDawn Does living a few blocks away from where the accident occured count?
Taped at CBS Television City, Hollywood, CA.
The first maingame rebus was used on the 1997 pilot for an Australian version of Concentration
18:40, major goof...should have won the $5k. A few seconds later, the "blender" incident. He admits at 19:26 about the error.
Wouldn’t have mattered. These are hired actors playing the contestants. No real money and/or prizes were awarded here.
There actually is an "orange hot", which is not as hot as "white hot" or "red hot".
I don't think the writers knew that.
Sure glad they changed format & style for the Trebek-hosted sequel. . .

I didn't like him calling out the prizes in the bonus round. I'm glad they went with the Trebek version over this.
