Symphony - IV. Finale based on Beethoven's sketch for a 10th symphony Finale from 1822

In 1822 when Beethoven conceived the 'Ode to Joy' theme he sketched also a short and most jubilent theme for a 10th symphony which he also had in mind at that time (actually thought for a fugue in Bb for probably a final movement, see the bottom of: gerdprengel.de... ). I love the joy of this theme so much that it inspired me to write a whole movement as the finale of my symphony on the basis of that.
But the movement is introduced with an old and solemn choral theme which Beethoven also had in mind (in a verbal sketch from 1818 in which Beethoven speaks of having a 'pious song in the old modes ... Herr Gott, dich loben wir '( an Gregorian chant for the Te Deum laudamus ...)) when considering the Finale of his planned 10th symphony.

Noteperformer has gotten pretty good with brass and woodwinds. The oboe has gotten so much better since the v2. But those strings are, well, let just say they are typical noteperformer strings. I can never get used to them. Strings just ruin it.

First and cursory impression (so I'm probably wrong):
great and really interesting first 5 (maybe 5 1/2) minutes and then it just turns into a pointless academic exercise in fugal masturbation.
Maybe the last 9 minutes can be turned into 3 (or 4 max) minutes of something that has something to say about whatever was interesting about the first 5 (apart from technique)...?
