@@joshuacruz4244 Not even collapse. One game they lose, the mets have to win and they're in. Then we pray for a little bit of luck that the braves lose when the Mets do, for 2 weeks
Yes, all they can do is keep on winning. In a previous post, I said that they shouldn't expect much help from the opponents of the Braves, Diamondbacks, and Padres. At the rate things are going, they're going to probably need 90 wins or even a bit more, though they do own the tiebreaker with the Diamondbacks and the Padres if it comes to that.
It's actually the Braves who are under pressure more than the Mets. They have the lead, but it's not a good feeling to have another team, who's red hot at the moment, breathing down your neck. So the Braves are more worried than the Mets are.
@@iunstoppable1 i get it but ohtani is just a DH if he was pitching and hitting i wouldnt argue but Lindor is on the field and hitting playing well rounded baseball and if we make it to a WC he definitely deserves it imo. It can happen you never know !
He won't win MVP, because shohei is getting 50/50 and the writers are going to eat that up and also it's shoehi ohtani and there hasn't ever been a more beloved baseball player. Lindor deserves it though. he just keeps doing MVP things, day in, day out. Real Mets fans know that if we sneak into October, it's on the back of Francisco.

Great job by Mets offense scoring 4 Runs in 2 separate innings. Megill i think would be a really good multiple inning reliever. He just doesn't seem to last more than 5 innings. Maybe making him a 2 inning reliever would make his stuff work more.
Fun Fact Hey, remember that time that Rafael Devers ran hard to first base??? Its driving me crazy because I cant remember the exact date..I know it was a Wednesday and they were playing the Twins...I know it was a few years ago maybe 20-21? Anyone else remember that?
I love that this team doesn't have the pressure to win like the '22 squad did. They can just go out and perform. If the Mets can get Senga back in the next few weeks, and Alonso heats up a little, no one in the N.L. is going to want to see them in October. LGM. Keep it rolling🤘
Mets have to take both series against Philistines, make a statement. Plus, sweep the Jays, and then powerout those last three games with ATL. Do we have brittle stick Senga back yet, then maybe there's a chance. But most important, where is Alonso's bat?? He should be intimidating managers into pitch arounds all September. Man, it's getting late for a spark. OMG is going to turn into WTF if Pete can't rally. The NL East is just to damn stacked for fade outs in Sept.
when he's pitching, absolutely. but him being only a dh this year, while francisco is out there playing phenomenal defense at short. gonna be an interesting vote.
Lifelong mets fan and I'm ready For the mitts to let Pete Alonzo walk this off season, I wish he would have never wone back-to-back homerun derbys because it has been a slow decline ever since...
Swept boston and putting a lot of pressure on Atlanta, they need to keep winning games during this stretch and hopefully atlanta loses a couple here there
Good for the Mets becoming the second home team to sweep the road warrior Red Sox this season and let’s hope the Braves collapsed just like they did 13 years ago.
This is why I am not a big fan of giving Alonso a $40m/year contract when he always comes up empty with runners in scoring positions. He is not a clutch hitter.
Cora had some explaining to do. It's the 2nd time this week that he's brought in 44 year old rich hill and it has completely blown up in his face. He brought in rich hill on Sunday when criswell had a perfect game going. Lmfao. Again, rich hill is 44 years old. What part 44 did the red sox think would be beneficial for their baseball team? He's the oldest player in all of baseball. This is ridiculous. Amean honestly....this is absurd. The Boston red sox are featuring rich bleeping Hill as their late season/September call up guy? Are you kidding me? Is this a joke? That is 100% unacceptable. That should infuriate red sox fans. I'm sorry but that's a move that tells me that you don't care about winning.
All Good Things....Except for Pete Alonso. If we are to make the playoffs, we NEED him to Produce. He is a sucker for the Sweeper and missing 94 MPH Fastballs. Hopefully Frankie A is "starting" to find his swing. Iglesias was the find of the year! Torrens a very close second with Winker. With Sugar back (I hope) we are looking like the 1973 Mets! On August 29 1973, The Mets were in last place in the east Division. They went something like 25-6 from that time and won the Division Title!
You mets fans are mentally deranged saying Lindor should be considered for mvp. Ohtani is looking at .295 and the first 50/50 player. If I had a vote I would be laughing. No way a .270 hitter should be an mvp candidate.
Cuz all he contributes us offense which diminishes his value. Lindor contributes in offense and elite defense and plays like every dam game. The award is mvp not best player award
No way a DH should be an MVP candidate. Ohtani is a phenomenal player and great hitter but of course it's easy to hit and steal bases when all you do is sit in the dugout for most of the game. Lindor plays elite defense and has been winning games for the Mets on both sides of the ball. That's what an MVP season looks like.
A DH (which is what Ohtani is this season) is expected to put up big numbers like that (maybe not as much in the SB department, so I can concede that), but a SS is more valued for strong defense than their hitting at least with respect to WAR. Lindor is an offensively talented SS along with strong defense to back it up, not even counting his contributions to the team in other ways. There is absolutely a strong case to be made for either one of them. 50/50 is definitely a good reason to win MVP, but I think MVP voting still considers contributions on both sides of the ball and with Ohtani not pitching, I think Lindor has a slight edge if he continues this pace through the regular season and the Mets make the playoffs. If only being on one side of the ball is what matters, then by that logic deGrom should have been in the conversation in 2018 with his 1.7 ERA and 269 Ks over 200+ IP and allowing an average of less than one baserunner per inning.
Bobby h 347 what you are talking imagine prime Billy hamilton and Rickey henderson stealing bases with the New rules.the pitcher only can throw 2 time to the bases.for the runner is easy to bait the pitcher to make a mistake. It's harder for a pitcher and catcher.
Diaz is starting to get confidence in his fastball again. Good to see. Mets are making it interesting heading into October!
All they need is for the braves to collapse to have a chance to sneak in the wildcard
His fastball isn't the problem, it's the slider that's the issue. He's been struggling to locate it.
