This is my favourite of the Etudes and that is saying something considering how brilliant they all are. Wish I could play one:-)

The name Aeolian Harp comes from the greek god Aeoleus, the god of wind or keeper of the winds. The term arpeggio came from the use of harps, when to play a harp was called to 'arpeggiare'. You can see how the name Aeolian Harp is quite fitting, given by a critic from chopin's time.

Definitely the most beautiful of all op 25 etudes, but there is something really bad with Pollini: he always plays so fast, like being hunted by someone. Well, etudes are the backbone of virtuosity, but I certainly prefer the interpretation of Baremboim because he gives the romantism of this piece - it's Chopin, afterall - absolutely perfectly despite being somewhat slower. Chopin himself was not paying so much attention on speed, but on sound (dynamics and expressivity), as his main purpose of composing in general.
