- In the summer of 2020, Schaeffer had shown his father trail camera photos of two large bucks. An older wide 10 point and a up and coming 9 point. His father said “I’d like to see you get one of those deer." Schaeffer had a run in with the big 10 that fall but wasn’t able to capitalize. After losing his father in 2021, he set his sights on trying to get one of these deer for his dad. In the fall of 2022, the 10pt was gone and the “Big 9” was now a 13 point giant. On the morning of November 19th, Schaeffer woke up out of a dream he was having about his dad and headed for the woods. That morning, Schaeffer would get “one of those deer” him and his father talked about just two years before.

It's such a fantastic story and an emotional, beautiful ending. I myself am a hunter, and I have so many good memories and great hunts in the field. To share them with family and good friends means everything to me. I, too, experienced the same loss as you. Omg!! My Dads 80. He raised me the right way growing up. My Dad also gave me the gift of hunting every Saturday as a kid/young man. We head north every year for a week at his camp in northern Maine. I pray at the end of every trip I can have one more trip with him. Your video hits hard with me personally. Thank you for sharing buddy.

Damn.. this brought me through a roller coaster of emotions. My dad is 72 and still going strong. Last year, we hunted together. Not only did I get my first deer ever, he got one also the next morning. Recently, I became a dad myself. The thought of losing my dad or not being there for my son just brought me to tears. Congrats man. Thanks for sharing.

Your dad is proud of you my man. Well done. You get lucky once and a while. It’s almost like all you have to do is show up. It’s capitalizing on it that counts. He looked like a 4.5 year old. Did you find out? Could you imagine what he would of looked like if he did that to you next year. Holy crap you’d probably need counseling. And a diaper. Head gear on that buck is just unreal. You don’t get to see a lot of main frame 10s in Maine with the perfect rack and junk everywhere. Just a perfect buck. Great genetics. God bless
