Great video and tips. Was wondering if you remember me talking about how you fished right by my house. I've been going out there and all along the water and it's so active. Wanted to see if you would be down to come back out to the area and I could join you and or observe how you approach catching the carp. The average size carp are 6 pounds according to the ones I've caught just from bread balls but I've seen some grass carp that have to be 10+ pounds along with the common carp you caught before by the cement part of the bayou which now has too many turtles to count. If you would like to I could send you an email regarding some more details about it.

Send me an email, I don’t remember the specific spot you’re talking about

Lots of fun catching carp on lighter line. I've been using the hair rig with the pack bait more and it works good, especially if you want to get out farther with the chum. Caught an Apple10 phone one time. Don't know how I got that lucky but it was a bit water logged though.

      A phone?!? Now that’s a catch 😂
Yes the pack bait helps attract more fish to the area and allows for further casting. Make sure to try different mixes as well. Some flavors work better in certain areas

Video never got put on my homepage so i missed it for 4 days but awesome man! Carp fishing is my favorite type of fishing i personally use a ronnie rig mostof the time and based on conditions a bannana pop up boilie with a pva bag of other boilies or the classic corn and pack bait

Also does freshness of gar bait contribute a ton to bites

I’m not sure I’ve heard of a Ronnie rig. Can you explain?

Fresher the better, but I’ve caught plenty on frozen and then thawed bait and even rancid. When they are hungry they eat whatever is an easy meal.

Also known as the spinner rig the ronnie rig allows me to fish pop ups close to the bottom and the whole rigs gimmick is that it can spin to get the most effective point at which the fish gets hooked i use it with everything and it doesnt even need a baiting needle but the cons are that it takes a long time to tie and you need a ton of european rig items that can get expensive and are also not available in the US so ive created a ghetto version of it that works just as well

I use a 6000 size soungayling baitrunner reel with a12ft mikado carp rod and a 42in ngt carp net with 20lb braid for extra castability and it is amazing i can cast 100yds with some effort

Where do you get your green monofilament line?

Pretty sure I picked it up at Academy, but honestly I prefer braid. I get better hook sets and it has no memory so I can cast further

    Get a landing mat.

That is something I don’t have.
      I’ve seen people use them.
Is there any reason why they are so popular?

@Bites and Strikes Fishing for when they flop around an potential drop, something softer to land on besides rocks and dirt. But if you have a cradle it help contain them until your ready to take a photo. I love both of mine. Cradle is perfect for uneven ground
