Oddly enough, this episode points out an advantage of Orthodox church structure over the Roman Catholic church. When one Orthodox church goes rogue like this, it doesn't take down the entire Orthodox faith, only that particular church. A Greek Orthodox can go to a Russian Orthodox church and still live his Orthodox faith. When the Pope / Vatican do it, it'll change the entire Catholic faith, right down to every single parish. A Catholic won't be able to escape it.

Thats why in the Marian phropeshy she speak that heresy would spread from the top down. Meaning from the cardinals and pope himself. There is obviously the eastern rites but the authority of the Pope overrides them. just how the pope had power to revoke patriarchs in the first millenum not because of primacy or respect but because he had the authority.

First of all the deaconesses ordained in 2017 were not ordained to the full and equivalent role of deacon. They were more akin to subdeacons which are not ordained in the same sense. Second, in the statement put out a few days ago by the patriarchate, there seems to be an implicit recognition that the ordination of a woman to the full order of deacon isn’t in keeping with tradition and wasn’t approved by the synod. There was a panel created to finalize the details of the decision made in principle which has not yet finished its work. Finally, this happened in but one autocephalous Orthodox jurisdiction. We must wait to see how other jurisdictions respond to this. The beauty of the Orthodox church’s structure is that it is impossible for errors to poison the entire church from the top down. The truth will prevail in the church whether this includes the Patriarchate of Alexandria or not.

Will these sub deaconesese only be involved in ministering to females, such as preparing females for baptisms? I'm an Australian Greek Orthodox Christian.

@maxterlisner9362 The Catholic Church has never had deaconesses that were ordained. None of the ones that St Paul talks about were ordained. They were simply good women who traveled with the disciples to take care of cooking and housekeeping. Never in the history of the Church has a woman been given Holy Orders. Such a thing is impossible for Orders are only for men.

We don't have any tradition of Deaconess in the Church.
I think you are speaking about Eastern Orthodox Church and not Eastern Catholic Church.

more proof with your comment that the Orthodox Church isn't the Church that Jesus Started in 33AD. The church created by Christ should be universal. Catholic means universal so you are not the apostolic Catholic church that you guys call yourselves. No one is in communion with each other.. Whereas the Catholic Church everyone is in communion with each other. We do have the Eastern Churches but they are under the Pope. If you like the style of the Orthodox Liturgy please visit a Byzantine Catholic Church
