Can't wait for the next Battlebots season. Stinks have to wait so long...I read they haven't gotten the 'green light' for championship VIII yet. Come on, Discovery!
I dont think the end was unexpected at all - it was pretty clear the show was losing steam. Frankly its a miracle that there were very few changes in cast over the entire run of the show - its pretty rare for so many big personalities to stay put on one project for so long. I don't know why so many people interpret Adam and Jamies lack of friendship to be that they 'hated' each other. They both stated they don't, and that they work really well together. They just were not friends and neither of them wanted anything other than a purely professional relationship. Its very admirable to set those boundaries and still work that closely.
Also look at what other shows Discovery was putting out at the time. I would tune in for Mythbusters or whatever other educational show at the time, but it devolved into so many superstitious, conspiracy, and alien nonsense I refused to stop watching all together (same with the History Channel).
It's a business relationship, its like the best duos seem to like to spend a lot of time apart, siskel and ebert, probably the closest to adam and jamie due to their debunking shows but Penn and teller (it surprised me but Penn did say how they only really interact when it's to do with business.)
Nowhere is it written that you MUST like the people you work with. I've always been really impressed with Jamie and Adam for understanding that and not making it any bigger than it needed to be. They worked well together for many years, end of story.
i remember something adam said once, the reason why him and jamie didnt really like each other in a freindly way was because of how the show was done as normally it was pitting each others idea of the myth against each other which yea over time can really start to impact any relationship. where as the trio was more about working together to come up with a solution
It doesn’t help either that Adam and Jamie collaborated on one build while the trio would often make their own build and compete if there were disagreements
There were many other reasons why they didn't like each other as well, some of which they have commented on publicly. For example, Jamie is a very meticulous person who wants every tool in his shop to be put in its correct place after use, while Adam would just leave all of the tools and materials laying around even after he didn't need them anymore, and apparently behind the scenes this became a point of arguments and often pissed off Jamie. (I got the impression that Adam wouldn't learn from it no matter how many times he was told, and would just leave tools laying around again and again, year after year, no matter how many times Jamie would scold him for it, which started pissing him off more and more over time.)
Jamie us a professional who runs efficiently a company. Part of that is order and structure to deliver in time cost efficient solution for customers. On the other hand we have a chaotic day dreamer who engulfs on a lot of ideas that do not come to fruition. This could never work out.
The show just became very reminiscent of the time it was being made at the end. Which didn’t suit the show at all. The constant drone shots, inception gongs and continuous teasing of what they were about to destroy just didn’t fit the ethos of the show. The imploding tanker was a prime example of this. They’d essentially ran out of myths so the show just became a parody of itself.
I love the testing and absurd builds they got to do. Sure, theres a million youtube channels now that do it. but there was something deeply satisfying in watching these people with a wild grab bag of professional skills hacking together something that no one has tried to build before, for no better reason than to see what would happen.
One of my favorite shows ever. There is rarely a case of something asked where I can't chime in "OH, Mythbusters did it, and.....". It is much like the Simpsons or Seinfeld in that way
Saying Adam and Jamie had "beef" is disingenuous at best. They were work colleagues, and worked well together. Doesn't mean that they had to be friends, or even have any interaction outside of work. They spend hours together, especially when doing the live shows, no reason to hang out after work as well
I remember those earliest pilot episodes, which had different music and a somewhat different style overall. They played up the interpersonal conflicts more early on, probably because workplace documentary series like that were popular at the time. I'm glad they dialed back on that aspect for the show proper.
Mythbusters was the best until Discovery went crazy on the commercial breaks with more commercials of "watch the next scene coming right up." Felt like an advertisers wet dream, made me want to throw up. They enshitified it to death.
They were part of my childhood! I rememeber came back from school, make my favorite drink, turn on the tv and saw Mythbuster! Thanks to them, i study in technical high school, and then engineering at the university. I will never forget the Mythbusters : ' )
You could tell in later seasons that Jamie didnt care much for Adam a lot of times with how over the top he would get. But other episodes where they just gelled so hard cause their interests in the topic just made it amazing
The show was basically my 20s. It was the most fun show on TV and I never missed an episode. I even had a crush on Kari for awhile. Honestly, I'm glad that they ended it as respectfully as they did. I understood even when watching that the crew was getting older and no longer able to do many of the more physically demanding myths, and once the build team left, I knew the show was on its last legs. But it was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience, bringing together some of the brightest minds in the industry for my money the most fun science show ever made. To this day I still reference Mythbusters when someone asks if something crazy can be done. Also RIP Grant Imahara, he was one of a kind.
I always found the build team's myths were by far the most fun ones. Adam and Jamie would spend the whole time grumpily doing some giant spectacle that wasn't very interesting, while the others would be having fun together doing something smaller and much cooler.
I agree. However, it’s funny if you look back at the early seasons because Adam and Jaime often did one larger spectacle myth that was the A plot with several smaller myths that were bouncy fun short that functioned as the B plot.
For me, just one simple insignificant viewer, MB stopped being on my "often watched" shows when the show turned away from the scientific to the "blow stuff up" mode. I get it, people like guns and explosions and, honestly, as do I but it seemed that the balance turned into the blowing up part. I tend to like creative shows in that vein. I used to also watch Junkyard Wars which was very interesting in using scrap parts creatively.
Surprised you didn’t mention how even though the original ended, the executives and producers tried to milk the brand through Mythbusters The Search and the reboot. The Search tired to be passing of the torch even though none of the original hosts were there, and when they did a reboot on the sci fi channel it just didn’t feel the same with the new hosts they chose. By the time they finally brought Adam back for Mythbusters Jr I think it was already too late.
The underlying concept of testing ridiculous scenarios is sound. Getting the right folks behind it is what matters. I suspect at some point there will be a successful rework of the concept, but I have no idea when.
There was a show on Discovery long before Mythbusters where they built stuff out of scrap. There was a special episode where teams from three special effects companies were competing to build stuff -one of the teams was a team from ILM and the leader of that team was Grant Imahara.
@@gauloiseguy junkyard wars, the funny thing was a few of the battlebots teams ended up on that show. Probably because they were engineers who enjoyed a challenge.
@@lewisb85I remember that too. Started watching Mythbusters because I recognized Jamie as tue builder of Blendo. I watch many of those shows and the same people kept popping up between Junkyark Wars, Robot Wars, Battlebots, etc. It was cool when the brought in Grant of Deadblow middle weight champion fame as well.
Would have been the best video covering them I’ve seen if only you had mentioned at all the time that Kari got pregnant and they needed a replacement so they got Jesse Combs, and she passed as well somewhat recently too.
The loss of Jessie and Grant was such a horrible blow…Grant in particular because he was just living his life then BAM, out of nowhere. Life gave him the ultimate RKO 🙁
This show was a regular for me and my Grandma. We never missed an episode when she was still with us. This show taught me a lot of things I never thought I could use irl.
There were also a lot of legal/liability issues that were getting worse. The Mythbusters did not take enough precautions, nor did they do enough calculations beforehand. One of the results was a cannonball blowing through walls and ending up in someone's living room. That easily could have killed someone. Another was the coffee creamer burn which was far larger than predicted.
You didn't mention the reboot, where they got two other guys that kind of look like Adam and Jamie if you squint. There's also Mythbusters: The Search which I only discovered today while looking up pictures for the reboot. (It also has a poster that could be seen as trying to trick people that some old hosts are back (Kari))
Sorry, but in just 2 minutes you got 2 things very wrong. Jamie didn't take over Colossal, after working for some time he started his own Shop M5. Yes he didn't think he himself would be entertaining, so Jamie asked Adam as not only has Adam and Jamie worked together before (Adam working for Jamie before Adam got a job at Lucas Films), knew that Adam would be a good fit as them having not only differing personalities and work methods, but they also had tremendous respect for each other.
I quite enjoyed Mythbusters and always looked forward to new episodes... but in the last couple of seasons they really seemed to be "phoning it in" by doing stuff where it was clear they were under tighter budget constraints and just couldn't afford to go after anything complex or long term or would need extensive use of a production crew.
Yeah you've got a bit wrong about how they came to get Adam on the show... He had already worked for Jamie & Jamie actually asked Adam if he wanted to co present with him for the reason you mentioned.
I remember the whole thing declines when the Build Team was let go, leaving only the original duo. It didn't make the series any better with the sequel show starring Brian Louden and Jon Lung, Adam Savage returned with Mythbusters Jr but the magic sparkle has got so weak, it's hard for the series to recover.
I had the pleasure of meeting Kerry once. I was a bit starstruck because she came up to me for help, but I couldn't help her (as I could barely talk because.... I was 17). She was on a mission, so she turned tail & left as quickly as she had appeared, leaving me pissed I couldn't have at least said I was a fan of the work she'd done.
This show and RUclipss Vsause have shaped my mind more than my grade school years. They taught me to have a skeptical mind and what a good standards of evidence is.
in my opinion, Mythbusters was pivotal for the rise of these really popular RUclips STEM and other educational content creator brands like VSauce, Smarter Everyday, Veritasium, The Backyard Scientist, Everyday Astronaut, Mark Rober, Xyla Foxlin, etc. (their viewership and subscription base are some of the largest in the platform), and even creative production channels like The SlowMo guys, How Ridiculous, etc. heck, I’ll even throw in popular flat earth debunker creators like SciManDan, FTFE, Creaky Blinder, Dave McKeegan, Reds Rhetoric, MCToon, Conspiracy Catz, Professor Stick, and many others like them… these content creator channels, and many others like them were the real spiritual successors to Mythbusters, not only in format (which a lot of them have similarities), but also, in premise, and the entire mission of it, bringing science to the masses, in the most understandable, and frankly, entertaining ways possible… the OG show may have been on the yesteryears already, but I’m sure glad these content creators picked up the torch and kept it burning well
From what I said in another comment about "phoning it in" for the last couple of seasons - I guess RUclips is always partly why this and other shows get cancelled. Like when Storage Wars was big there were spin off series (Texas, Miami, New York, Canada) but also competing shows (Auction Hunters, Container Wars, Storage Hunters, Baggage Battles, etc) but now with RUclips there are loads of channels about people buying storage units, shipping containers, unclaimed luggage, estate auctions, etc... maybe Mythbusters didn't have as much YT compeition but there are a few channels out there that do similar stuff
Kari was the one who demanded a huge pay raise, and because they couldn't just fire the one woman on the show they had to cut the entire B team. One of the producers said as much.
Yeah thats uh, thats a definite oof. Don't mean to talk shit, maybe it wasn't her intention, but if thats true she was basically just leveraging how she was born against her own friends' careers and opportunities. (Particularly bad since, well, the show runners were clearly fucking right if thats the case; this very video allocates a pretty substantial section to how it's extra bad she got fired. Can you imagine if *_only_* she got fired *_and_* there was clearly bad blood publicly between her and the producers? It's not like she couldn't have said "if you don't renew my contract I'll publicly state that it was just a pay disagreement and nothing else" or something, meaning intentionally or not she was basically saying "either you renew my contract at the rate I say, you fire me and my friends, or you look like you fired me because I'm a woman". Again, it's basically leveraging your own incidental characteristics against your own friends' careers. Its the explosive coat of contract negotiation.)
I find it remarkable that Adam and Jamie could keep their relationship sheerly professional. I worked with people that I didn’t like (and vice versa) but there always came a time that it was enough. Never calling out the other as a reason because those people I butted heads with the most were some of the most genius engineers that I respect and most even recognize as a superior expert in our overlapping fields. But often you want a deeper kenship when you are in the trenches. You want that warm living feeling and not just that business professional approach.
Not always. There were moments where they'd argue onscreen, especially for the quicksand myth. Adam wanted to use a fire hydrant to fill up the tank they'd built faster but Jamie kept noping him for Newton only knows why then audibly called Adam a baby, causing him to storm off.
@@CidSilverWing Adam needed a cookie 🍪🤣 But those are mere incidents. Frankly, I couldn’t work with a guy like Adam. If I wouldn’t fire him, I’d probably punch him. He’s too Cavelier some times and too impatient and as a result budges things up. Which if he just geared back gave himself 10-15 more minutes, he would not faulter as much.
I think this cultural era of the mid 2000s was important for young people that would face adulthood challenges in the next 15-20 years. Shows like mythbusters generated interest in STEM and inspired the youth of the time to work hands on to solve problems creatively which is a mindset that adulthood often requires.
Seem to have overlooked Discovery's attempt to reboot the show in 2018 with two unknown hosts (who I'm sure were paid much less), which appears to have crashed and burned after one season. It's was a color palette. Jamie and Adam were black and white. You can make some interesting pictures with black and white, but Kari, Grant, and Tory were like red, yellow, and blue - they added color to the show. You needed them all to make the show the rich tapestry it was. Having such colorful characters for so long, it's hard to stay interested in a show when it suddenly goes back to just being in black and white .
The new hosts weren't bad, it's just the show lost traction, it was an attempted reboot. In my opinion they tried rebooting it too soon, if they waited say 10-15 years it would have been more impactful.
I am very thankful for the entire cast of Mythbusters, as they provided so much good wholesome entertainment for me and my family. My son loves to experiment and wants to do something in mechanics because of the show. I am absolutely sure I'm not the only story like this. Thanks for the video.
Honestly you’re criminally under watched, the editing and the artists work in these videos are always top notch keep it up bud hope more subscribers come your way🙏
Thanks Phat! I think I watched every episode despite the fact that I basically screamed at the TV that "that's not how to do it. You should have done it this way instead! Damn it!!" :D
Penn and Teller have been known to not call themselves friends, but business partners. Their success is a testament to how thisnkind of relationship can work. I felt like Adam and Jamie's relationship was similar. Maybe not so much.
I think that’s a bit of an exaggeration. Penn has said that when they first started, it was a professional relationship, they weren’t friends first who decided to work together but instead they realized that they could work together and do it well and they ended up building a friendship over the decades. He says since they weren’t friends first, there was no emotional baggage in that working relationship. They have become best friends but in general outside their magic show, they have almost nothing in common. I’m sure that separation outside work keeps them levelheaded about their work.
I remember watching this all the when I was kid. I even keep notes on my notebook on what episode was the most fun to watch. Grant became an instant favorite of mine when he casted. Dude is always excited when explaining robotic stuff and such great vibe. We all miss you Grant!
I just love it when people quote some random comment from some random viewer. It's fucking great. Reminds me of something some other RUclipsr does all the time. I wonder who that could be.
2006 in 6th grade i first saw this show I'm like 🤯 . Every time I come home from school I watch mythbusters. I always talked about my classmates about this show and they can't believe that i know so much stuff. Thank you for bringing nostalgic and fun memories.
i remember just binging the episodes on a dicovery channel almost every day. the laughs, the myths, the pain, the explosions, all good stuff! was so sad to see the b-team no longer on the show, glad to hear that on the final episode that they all came together and did a recap. was really sad to hear of grant's passing, he was a great guy.
Mythbusters was one of my favourite TV programs of all time. It was disappointing when Kari Grant and Tori left but I continued to watch. I'm surprised you didn't mention the later season presented by Jon Lung and Brian Louden, and Mythbusters:The Search that preceded this. In my opinion The Search was watchable, but the series that followed it wasn't that good.
I think "the search" gets ignored because everyone kind of knows it was time for mythbusters to end, and "the search" was a pretty blatant cash grab attempt to keep it going past its expiry date at a lower cost. I don't blame any of the host contestants, I would absolutely jump at the chance to be an official 'mythbuster', but it was time to end. And Adam and Jamie WERE the mythbusters. People maybe would have accepted the build team replacing them, but other than that no one was going to really accept "new" mythbusters.
When I found out about Grant's death, it truly felt like the death of Mythbusters was real. I loved the build team so much. They were my favorite part of the show. So sad. RIP Grant Imahara.
Mtlythbusters also became way too expensive to produce. There were instances werein accidents occured that almost killed people sleeping in their homes
Being a professional editor myself I have to say this episode what is edited really well 😀👍🎞️ it also brought a tear to my eye remembering how awesome MythBusters was back in the day! I'm so grateful I was able to witness it when the show was running! It was a truly remarkable show! And I'm sad that Grant is 😢💔
I always found it funny everyone thought they were best buds. All you had to do was watch with an eye towards human interaction to tell they didn't get along. I think Adam's scattered and 'wtf, let's try this' attitude conflicted heavily with Jamie. Adam is a extravert, and Jamie a major introvert. It was a testimony to both of their professionalism that they worked together for so many years.
I really loved watching Mythbusters. From all the shows that I really liked to watch on Discovery, this one was definitely my favorite. I was exceptionally thrilled, when they analyzed the infamous escape from Alcatraz, and because I also really like movies and video games, which have planning and executing heists and prison breaks or escapes, this episode of Mythbusters is my favorite. But sadly, every journey ends, and this was fantastic journey. And it's really sad that Grant has passed. May he rest in peace.
Nice hearing Adam explaining just the way it is.. At a certain point, everyone involved wants to make more money than before, and that can't go on forever unless you're somehow gobbling everything else up. You have to hit the point where it makes financial sense for both parties to end it while it's still popular but waning.
I have never understood why people are shocked that Adam and Jamie aren't friends. How many colleagues are you friends with outside work? That's very rare in most workplaces as your coworkers are people you have to be around. You try to be cordial and relaxed, but in the end you don't choose to be around them after work. The build team did have great chemistry and Tory and Kerri developed an interesting "work spouse" dynamic it still was a workplace only relationship between the three of them.
My parents never really liked cartoons or animated things, and my dad loved the science channel and that rubbed off on me to the point where, when we finally got streaming services, I binged all of mythbusters and am working on how it’s made.
Kari is awesome. Had a crush on her when I originally watched this show back in the day, but on rewatching all the seasons thanks to streaming service magic, she knows her stuff, pretty knowledgeable too!
That this show was so successful in spite of the two primary host not being as close as it seemed is a testament to the quality of material, the caliber of the crew both off and on camera, and the professionalism shown by by Jamie and Adam. I wish them all well as they move on in life.
It was still going pretty strong but also remember Discovery was having tight funding issues replacing for example shows like Stormchasers where crews were on duty but could have days where nothing happened still drawing pay with stuff like Moonshiners and similar shows. Last several years Discovery started trying to kill the audience by shifting timeslots around from the evergreen Wednesday night slot to Saturday nights and when it still held on they dumped the build team and moved it to Sunday IIRC and then just finally said that's it we're pulling the plug and announced the final season. I go with the money saving angle because if the Mythbusters franchise had run it's course and the audience wasn't there anymore Discovery didn't even wait til the Mythbusters corpse was cold before trying to revive it in multiple forms and shapes with one of the originals on board in one form or another.
The ratty Bonanza Bar on Napoleon was the source for reflection and inspiration. Jamie was deep in contemplation amoungst the local mutants and tow truck drivers.
I remember watching the show when it aired first, absolutely loved it, easely one of the best programme's on Discovery that added some much needed humor on top of the science!
This show I watched with my teenage sons for years. Not only was it filmed in the Bay Area, but had enough nerd power to keep coming back every week. Grant was my favorite.
You completely left out that Adam started his career as a model maker working for Jamie. That is an integral part of the story which you have ignored entirely.
@@quokka7555 Jamie was one of Adam's mentors and an early boss. Adam has mentioned it several times. That is why Jamie asked him to do myth busters, because he knew that Adam could do the job, because he used to work for Jamie. You can literally Google it and see that you are wrong. Why do you insist on being wrong?
The thing that killed mythbusters for me was that new episodes (at some point) were only being released on the Science Channel and being a kid at the time I couldn’t convince my parents to get a more expensive cable subscription that included this new channel.
I’m pretty sure I could sum up two factors: 1) That cannonball that would up in someone’s house which caused Tory, Grant and Kari to get the boot. 2) Adam and Jamie beefing.
I stopped watching tv in 2005. When I finally did catch an episode of Mythbusters again, I was like “Who are these other people?” I figured that was why it declined.
It’s worth mentioning the fact that Jessi Combs ( who filling in while Kari Byron went on maternity leave in season 7) also tragically passed away in 2019.
There's also the fact that, right before the final season where the build team was missing, the build team accidentally fired that cannon ball into a civilian house and almost got arrested because they could have killed somebody...

Sometimes a working business relationship is best. As the old adage goes, “don’t mix work with pleasure”.
@@DjVortex-w Adam electrocuted himself so many times, it just wasn't funny.
They’d essentially ran out of myths so the show just became a parody of itself.
i still watch episodes of mythbusters from time to time. It is fun watching them confirm or bust the expiriments they do. i love it.
It is much like the Simpsons or Seinfeld in that way
At some point it just seemed like Mythbusters turned into what can we blow up this week? Which you can't really base a whole TV show on.
I hate to disagree with a stranger online but I can't imagine a better thing on which to base a show.
And yet.. they did! 🧐
Bros never heard of men
"what can we blow up this week?" = good
"what can we blow up this week and should we use Cesium?" = Daytime Emmy
"What can we blow up this week" is a great idea for a show but they'd already hit peak explosion with the C4 cement truck
Saying Adam and Jamie had "beef" is disingenuous at best.
They were work colleagues, and worked well together. Doesn't mean that they had to be friends, or even have any interaction outside of work.
They spend hours together, especially when doing the live shows, no reason to hang out after work as well
Indeed, I hear people say this but I haven't heard it from Adam or Jamie themselves, I think people are misinterpreting the whole not friends part.
Grants death hit me like a freight train. RIP
Who r u talking to
@@SlimStarCraftWelcome the comments, where people share their opinions and experiences related to the video.
I always found the build team's myths were by far the most fun ones. Adam and Jamie would spend the whole time grumpily doing some giant spectacle that wasn't very interesting, while the others would be having fun together doing something smaller and much cooler.
💯
nailed it
Nah id watch Jamie and Adam any day over the insufferable talentless hack kari byron any day
Intersting, I had it the exact other way. It's not like I hated the Build team's myths, I simply much preffered watching Adam and Jaime.
When i was little i had a shirt that said "when i grow up, i want to be on mythbusters." Sadly, the show ended before i could ever live that dream.
I think as a kid I told people I want to become a mythbuster and it was precieved as ridiculus.
Uh, I'm pretty sure that Jaime and Adam worked together before Mythbusters, and that it was Jaime not The Discovery Channel that asked Adam...
Can't mention this show without mentioning How it's made lmao
How it's made is legendary
@@Polska_EditsA man of culture! 👏
Junk yard wars?
@@calvinthedestroyer Probably.
Scrap heap challenge or Junkyard wars I think.
We could do with a concrete inspector over here in the UK at the moment...😂
Interesting video. Thank you. It adds a new dimension to my Mythbusters knowledge.
Kari wasn't the only female on the show. There was Scotti and Jessi too
By the time the build team left, Kari was the only one still involved, so at the time she was the only woman on the show.
I mean she died so :/
@@mattmmilli8287 Nah, Kari is still alive.
Considering she was once one of the biggest channels on RUclips, Jenna Marbles' downfall and subsequent disappearance would be a great video
Who?
The fact you need to ask this, proves my point. She was once a major channel.@@pointysidedown
(their viewership and subscription base are some of the largest in the platform), and even creative production channels like The SlowMo guys, How Ridiculous, etc.
heck, I’ll even throw in popular flat earth debunker creators like SciManDan, FTFE, Creaky Blinder, Dave McKeegan, Reds Rhetoric, MCToon, Conspiracy Catz, Professor Stick, and many others like them…
these content creator channels, and many others like them were the real spiritual successors to Mythbusters, not only in format (which a lot of them have similarities), but also, in premise, and the entire mission of it, bringing science to the masses, in the most understandable, and frankly, entertaining ways possible…
the OG show may have been on the yesteryears already, but I’m sure glad these content creators picked up the torch and kept it burning well
I miss this show and the vibe. Kinda historic the impact it did have you still feel those influences in RUclips videos they did invent the blueprint
I, actually, totally believe that.
To be fair, Kari was a main reason why I watched the show
Did she think she deserved to be paid by the pound? lol
Which is kind of odd on her part because wasn’t she the most absent from the show fairly often?
RIP Grant. Watched you on Tabletop and you seemed like a good guy. Gone too soon.

It's fucking great.

i remember just binging the episodes on a dicovery channel almost every day. the laughs, the myths, the pain, the explosions, all good stuff! was so sad to see the b-team no longer on the show, glad to hear that on the final episode that they all came together and did a recap. was really sad to hear of grant's passing, he was a great guy.

You're referring to the cannonball incident; I never heard of any other incidents where the Mythbusters endangered the public.

Oh my! ONE ONLINE COMMENTATOR SAID THAT???
THE SHOW MUST HAVE BEEN IN RUINS I TELLE YA!
After watching such a serious and well produced video, to then here your channel name "PHAT MEMER" at the end made me absolutely crack up xD
Adam savage, and his psycho...therapist mother - that pause sent me down a different path.
Myth-busters was one of a kind
The topic is gold. The stuff..... Dang man, it worked, I was drawn in..... Then......pfffft. You have to back it up with good content.

I watched from the very beginning and straight through to the end and enjoyed every episode. I was gutted when they announced it was ending.
