      That was a ton of work. Took us a day and half to do front springs, icon springs and the bump stop. My buddy Victor hooked up the kids for all the work too.
      But yeah. Victor let truck looks mean now next to my sad stock Raptor

      YeH, TRX needs both a front and rear kit. I’ve heard a few shops already working to design kits.

    So I just did this install and a few learnings:
    - bolt up the top first and then use a pry bar from up top (against the bed) to push the back/inside plate down in order to make room for the bottom bolts
    - before tightening anything down, go ahead and bolt up the tension strut tabs so that things stay fully aligned
    - the crossbar and inner brackets have to be pre-installed in order to get the bolt heads toward the cab, otherwise the bolt will be going against the bed… I had to take the entire bracket system down because of this 😂

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  3 года назад

      Good to know man. Thanks. But I don’t recommend prying against the bed. Specially on the Gen2. It’s very weak and think and beds easy

      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad it doesn’t take a lot of pressure actually. It moved quite easy, but it’s hard as hell to get a hand back there doing it by yourself lol

      We also find that not all frames are the same. Some get the kit and it slips in. Others have as much trouble as we did.

    Dam what a PITA! Is that a new design for Icon? I remember seeing a trussed cross member when i was shopping around for my Gen 1. I went with the SVC adjustable kit. So far so good.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  3 года назад

      No, it’s their same kit as always. Just too tight of tolerances to work on all trucks

  • @socaltrailtrekkers1965
    @socaltrailtrekkers1965 3 года назад +1

    Thats a bad ass set up! I dig the angled braces to prevent the chassis from twisting.

      Yeah, only kit that does this on the market. Just a pain to install

    Can you list and give specifics on his 1. Geiser springs (2.5 or 3”) and which option icon leave springs he has (1,2 or 3)?

      Videos would be correct then. This was over a year ago and going off memory.
      He’s also running a decent amount of weight in the back and that back end has not sagged much.

    Whats up with the SVC visit?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  3 года назад

      SVC a went cold man 🤷‍♂️. They offered tour and all, so I tried to reach out to them directly a few times on social media to do it and they never responded.
      I’m going to be putting them on the spot on the video so I want to make sure they know what they are getting into since I’ve been very vocal about not using their gear. Maybe that’s why. I don’t know man. But if they want it to happen we can do it. If not, ah well.

    I've learned that ICON designs part with CAD, not actually on the truck. The downside of supporting so many platforms. I've ran a stage 6 kit on my old Ram. That kit literally took me 4 days working 12 hours a day. Everything didn't fit right, the control arms where a pain. And their shock tuning leaves alot to be desired. Good build quality, handles abuse where it counts. Would not do it again.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  3 года назад +2

      That’s definitely not good. On the Raptor, I know they’re stage4 kit gets a lot of praise for it’s tuning on the Gen1 and Gen2 trucks.
      But on the CAD side, all good shops use CAD. But the great shops know the real world requires some tolerances and adjust accordingly. Almost all “bolt kit” have issues because the factory specs leave a lot to be desired. But the icon kit for sure took the cake. 2 days of installing sucked.

      The feedback from others has been all over the place. Some say if fit, a lot say it did not. Really comes down to your frame. Some have better tolerances than others

    IMO. SVC makes a much better kit

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  3 года назад +1

      I get a lot of guys that say this. Their reasoning is the kit was easy to install. BUT, when it matters that SVC kit is weaker than the icon kit. The cross bar is too small, the arm that holds the bumps can and will crack, and there is nothing stopping it from twisting because it does not have a tight hold on the whole frame, just the face. 🤷‍♂️
      If you occasionally offroad, the SVC kit will do just fine. But for guys like me that’s on the trails all the time, it’s not strong enough.
