Thanks! Tbh I don’t know much about hololive but I’ll follow it a bit more when vol 2 comes out in English later this year. Hololive has a tone of SPs making it harder/rarer to get certain ones. That means a chase SP is going to be quite a bit more expensive than the typical Weiss Schwarz chase SP.
Pricing data points at around the Trade-in Campaign 1.- Before the trade-in campaign there were ZERO Nodokas and Mai's price was 150 2.- At the trade-in campaign announcement Mai's price sky-rocketted to 400 3.- 6+ Months after the trade-in campaign was announced and Mai was around 2000 USD Price was it's also clear that exchanging Mai (a 400-2000 usd card) wasn't very rewarding if Nodoka was just playable, that's also a good indicator that IMO would favor Nodoka to be rarer. ok let's evaluate some of today's data: 1.- Mai pop counts as of today are higher than Nodoka's 2.- Nodoka started with a count of ZERO since it was only available via exchange 3.- Mai was available in both sealed products (double the chance?) 4.- Nodoka was more playable, but Mai is/was a more popular character - decision making 5.- if Nodoka was more played, does that mean the available copies are either more damaged and/or ungraded? 6.- if Mai was the more desirable character at the time, then people who got it, kept it? 7.- it is assumed all Mai's pulled were sent but there's evidence of not many people noticing Weiss announcement (18 shares or so, very few comments) some reddit posts mentioning about the announcement 7-8 months in and not willing to trade it, not to mention some regions like LATAM was definitely see this like a challenge (logistics wise) and clearly pricier than the price of the "gift/apology" box to be given for a "very low chance" of pulling another Gold Signature card. - aka very unlikely that many exchanged in some regions. 8.- Sure, Mai's pop counts have the "crack and re-sub" factor but still, at the end of 2021 Mai was priced at around 4-5K if not more, not very rewarding to crack anymore. All things considered I'd say Nodoka is rarer (at least graded) and if so, it might be incorrectly priced.
There's been a few sales since your last update. A BGS 10 was traded for a 1st Ed Neo Destiny Booster Box Sealed (worth more than $45k) by Rhymestyle. SGC 10 was sold on eBay for $15.5k (probably a solid bgs 9.5). I see a BGS 10 listed on private sales for $44k right now.

@@victorhngEnglish had a reprint but all the signatures where changed to generic stamps because they lost the license for the sigs in English at the time of the reprint. Also this card wasn’t in the reprint at all as it was only boxes and not trial decks that got reprinted. Yeh you might find the odd one but it’s likely a “dead” box with no chance of pulling something. If they were easily available this card wouldn’t be worth what it’s worth. People would have bought all the boxes or decks they could find as soon as this card started becoming expensive. They have other bunny girl sets for the different seasons and films though that are probably still reasonably priced so you could always try and pick them up instead (or a reprint box)

It’s only 5 years old, if there were only 1 or two in the world then 38k is justified, but it isn’t there’s a lot out there. Just because it was an error doesn’t mean it should be expensive. Every sealed BGSP booster box probably still has it
Weiss print runs are really low to begin with. Especially pre-2020 Weiss, which virtually no one collected back then. That single, low print run plus the error leads to extremely low supply, especially compared to something like modern, over printed tcgs like Pokemon. The PSA pops on ALL modern Charizard are astronomically high.
SPs are really hard to pull with Weiss too. About one SP every 6-7 booster boxes. And there are about 12 different SPs in this set, you weren't guaranteed to hit the Mai. Doing the math, that's about One guaranteed Mai around every 72 booster boxes. Now imagine nearly all of those being traded in, and that is why the price is so high.
Basically to add what @Pixeltrainerf7012 said, you can probably count on one hand how many Mai's could exist in sealed boxes. Cases are almost impossible to find and pull rate per box were insanely low. PSA pop is only like 12 and BGS is like 10 for 10s. While I dont understand the price myself, I do understand the scarcity of it.
To add to this. I think most people in the community were seriously shocked that a sealed case was even found at this point for the break you are doing 🤯

No the error didn't happen in Japanese. You'd need to pull it from Japanese trail decks of the set.
