    I'm from Poland
    Been few times to Mazurian Lake District and Ermland (modern day East Prussia)
    Wanted to say few things - these lands are beautiful and maybe it's just me, but in my opinion their biggest treasure are the great remnants of Germans. The spirit of Prussians is still there. I respect history so I still call these lands East Prussia and I don't support the changes after WWII not only because we lost our eastern lands, but also because Germans lost their eastern lands

    • @bingchillinglover8868
      @bingchillinglover8868  3 года назад +10

      Yup! I love how you Polish people preserved the German remnants really well and keep the place really beautiful and nice. You guys have done a great job! However sadly the capital-Königsberg is under Russia and still destroyed. And yup the changes are indeed awful. It's entirely up to the greed of the USSR. Hope both 2 countries could get their rightful lands back aoon.

      @@BartlomiejDmowski Just out of curiosity, but since the landscape is still the same in your part of East Prussia, are there still Germans living over there? It indeed was a huge mistake on the Allies' part to shift Poland's and Germany's borders to the west. I hope both of these decisions can be reversed at least somewhat. Giving Lvov and Kaliningrad back would be a start.

    I remember my visit to Kaliningrad. Remember walking in historical center. That part of city still resembles Prussian culture, and I like it. It's sad that in past our countries had to fight such bloody and devastating war, but deep in my heart I hope that we all can let it go and move into the future, which, I hope, will be peaceful. Love you German friends, from Russia.

      We have to be realistic, Prussia will never come back, but Kaliningrad at least should rebuild the old historical center, it's a historical debt for the city to meet again its germany past and thus build a new future out of the mess communism left in the city.

    One slightly alternative ending that could’ve happened:
    After WW2, East Prussia is still carved up between Poland and Lithuania, but what remains becomes the Prussian Soviet Socialist Republic, and is populated by some Germans that remained there as well as Volga Germans that are forcefully moved there by order of Stalin to replace those who fled. Russians and Ukrainians also move there. The city of Königsberg is renamed to “Volksberg” (Волксберг in Russian.)
    Prussia tries to rebel in 1956 alongside Hungary but fails. Prussia undergoes some Russification as consequence but not as much as in our timeline. Volksberg becomes “Kalininberg” (Калининберг) and the Russian language is more heavily enforced.
    In 1990, when Lithuania secedes, Prussia decides to as well. But unlike the Baltic’s, the Soviet government in Prussia refuses to allow them to leave for strategic reasons. So a violent revolution occurs instead, and the Prussian SSR is replaced by the Prussian Republic. Kalininberg is renamed back to Königsberg.
    Prussia refuses to sign the New Union Treaty in 1991, so their independence is secured after that. In the years following, Prussia would be very isolationist beyond trading with their neighbors. They are part of the UN but not the EU or NATO due to distrusting the West while also hating Russia. The UN forbids Prussia from reuniting with Germany.

      Oh my...
      That's even worse, just like Austria, but smaller and poorer, what a shame it would've been for Prussia

    • @morsecode980
      @morsecode980 2 года назад

      @@losabias4723 Yeah it’d be unfortunate, but probably only 1 of 2 possible realities in which Prussia survives to modern day. The other one is if American President FDR’s plan to Balkanize Germany came true. If it did, what we know as “East Germany” would’ve been called Prussia and would’ve kept its eastern territories, but sadly a united Germany would be gone. Instead of being an SSR of Russia, it’d probably become the “Prussian Democratic Republic” before eventually dropping “Democratic” from its name in the 90’s.
