    I have been busy and have not been watching much and could not believe it when I saw you were in the UP! My mother was born in Pequaming in 1918 and used to tell stories of when Henry Ford used to come to town. You did a GREAT job on this video as you always do! Happy travels from a Yooper at heart living as. "Troll" under the bridge in Muskegon!

      Thanks as always Spell Madam! That's been the case for us too, until this summer. Now that we're back in the pseudo-West in far western North Dakota, about 40 miles east of the Montana line, we've finally found this summer's wildfire spoke. We're hoping that the promised change in wind direction overnight clears these skies for tomorrow.

      Indeed it is, Chris! We should've consulted some of you locals for tips on some boondocking spots in the National Forest, but we also needed to have cell service for work, and we wanted waterfront. Mouth of the Huron had some wonderful boondocking but we were shocked at how packed it was. And the cell signal was insufficient for our work needs, too. (Come on StarLink!) Boondocking would be perfect at High Rock Bay for anyone with a truck camper or a tent.

    Wow - great video! Living on Cape Cod we have worried about moving out West and away from the beautiful ocean that surrounds us, but we never realized how gorgeous (and ocean like) the Great Lakes are! We are definitely going to add the UP to our list of places to travel - will definitely satisfy our "ocean fix"!

    • @GrandAdventure

      And if you go far enough west there's of course the Pacific coast! Even in Utah we're only a quick 90-minute flight from anywhere along the West Coast. The NorCal/Oregon coast is nothing short of stunning. It's very different from Cape Cod, of course, but no less beautiful.

    Thanks for all your hard work and letting us virtually enjoy your lovely travels. You have a pleasant voice....sounds like a professional radio person. I also like your dog which I think I noticed as a brown English Lab? Finally, where do you gather your facts before narration, especially of Keweenaw Peninsula? You seem to find out of the way places, and offer interesting, and little known tidbits about an area. Nice work!

    • @GrandAdventure

      Thanks Chris! Appreciate your kind comment! Google is our friend, we simply research stuff online while we're visiting an area, trying to find stuff of interest. The water is definitely nippy, and I'll fully admit to being a wuss when it comes to cold water. But without any plans to swim, that really wasn't an issue for us. Where we were kayaking in the Apostle Islands in next week's episode the water temps were around 65ºF near shore, although they quickly drop to around 50ºF not too far off shore.

Am slowly making my way to Florida for Christmas with daughter/granddaughter. Next grand adventure is Iowa and possibly meeting with friends to do Nachez Trace from Nashville to Nachez - 444 miles of park (no commercial vehicles) with three well spaced boondocking campgrounds and truly scenic (hikes, ghost towns, Indian mound and more) through Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi. Hoping to head up to Crater Lake and Mount Lassen next month.
    Thanks Marc for putting this road trip together.
    It’s been a while since I was up in that area. Did you go by the big sand dunes on the other side of Michigan?

    Question, Could you put the time of year that you are at your locations, either by mentioning it or some marquee on the screen? I watch Saturday's release of venture4wd (youtube) where we can get an idea of weather at that time of year.

      Ken, we actually put the filming dates in the description of each video for that very reason. In this case it reads, "Filmed: August 10-16, 2020".

    Now you got those new campers believing they can just roll in and get the best electric site :) Really, Have you been experiencing over crowding in your travels this season?

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  4 года назад +2

      LOL! Really, we haven't had much issue. Then again we're not used to reserving anything as this is the first season we've been confined to campgrounds, so we don't have much of a baseline to compare it to. Some of our reservations in the more popular areas have been made a month or two in advance, whereas others we've made only a few days in advance, or even on the fly. Over Labor Day weekend we were in a 5-site town campground in North Dakota that's first-come, first served, and we were the only ones there for the entire three-day holiday. In most cases, though, the campgrounds have been quiet during the week and full, or nearly full on weekends.
