that's so sick! - bought my first subaru legacy 2023 - i can't wait to try this. thanks for this demo - a lot of people talk about it but doesn't actually show it in a real world situation
Thanks so much for the kind words! You’re going to love the Subaru Legacy 2023-its lane-centering feature is a game-changer. Let me know how it works out for you when you get a chance to try it!
SuperCruise is definitely an impressive system! Subaru’s lane-centering is getting really close, and it’s great to see this tech becoming more accessible. Have you tried it yet?
Driving hands free is really dangerous. Yes, it does have lane centering, and cruise control, but it isn’t a fully autonomous vehicle. Sometimes the car may not be able to read the road. Please be careful out there.
Thank you for the thoughtful reminder! You’re absolutely right-these systems are great tools but aren’t a substitute for paying attention. I always stay alert and ready to take over. Appreciate you looking out!
Hi! This is actually my Subaru Outback Touring. The lane-centering feature only works when adaptive cruise control is on, as both systems are designed to work together for optimal functionality.
On my '21 Forester Sport the lane centering works a bit with Cruise control off. Although not to the extent that it does with CC on. If I veer too far to one side of the lane it will guide me back to center.
@@martam7345 That’s interesting! It sounds like your Forester’s lane-keeping assist might be engaging, which works differently from full lane-centering. Adaptive cruise control really enhances the experience when paired with lane-centering!
@@sansinutube Exactly! Lane-keeping works without cruise control, but full lane-centering requires adaptive cruise to be active. Subaru has done a great job integrating these features
What if one of those trucks invades your lane while you are overtaking him? If you have your hand on the wheel, you can try to avoid the impact...in my opinion, we should never entrust the driving of the car to systems like this...
Hi Marco, you bring up a very valid concern. While lane-centering systems like this one are designed to assist drivers, they are not a substitute for staying alert and keeping your hands on the wheel. It’s always important to stay engaged and ready to take control when needed, especially in unpredictable traffic scenarios. These systems are there to enhance safety, not replace the driver’s judgment. Thanks for sharing your perspective!
This looks unreal! no hands on steering, no water bottle hack. I have to say, this is almost at the level of SuperCruise. Subaru forums are filled with people complaining that even 2023 Subarus have buggy lane centering system that pulls the vehicle too much to one edge of the lane.
Thanks for pointing that out! I’ve been really impressed with how smooth the lane-centering system is. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely a step up in real-world scenarios compared to what I’ve experienced with other brands.
@@crashthestash Good catch! Subaru definitely improved the camera and sensor systems in recent models. It’s great to see them listening to feedback and continuously refining the tech.
I had a similar issue with mine. I took it to my local Subaru service center for a wheel alignment, and it resolved the problem. I’d recommend giving that a try-it could make a big difference!
Hi Phil! Actually, with Subaru’s system, it doesn’t remind you to touch the steering as long as it detects your eyes are on the road and the lanes are visible. It’s pretty intuitive!
@@88kar88 Interesting! I think the reminders vary depending on the trim or settings. The Onyx Edition might be set to be more cautious-thanks for sharing!

@@waterwalker1315 Thank you for sharing your experience! It might vary depending on the model, but in the Touring, as long as the system detects your eyes are on the road and the lanes are clear, there’s no need to keep your hands on the steering wheel. @@waterwalker1315 Thanks for clarifying! That’s interesting. Just to confirm, are you driving an Outback, Forester, or Legacy? Also, what year is your vehicle? The system might behave slightly differently across models and years, even within the Touring trim. I’d love to figure this out together!

Holy cow what camera did you use to film this? It was incredibly vivid (I'm guessing due to Macbook Pro HDR)
Thanks! I actually just used my iPhone for this-no editing at all. It’s amazing how clear and vivid the footage turns out straight from the camera!
