Trevor Dunn, Mike Patton and Trey Spruance are joined by Scott Ian and Dave Lombardo for the band's first album in 21 years!
Video for "Raping Your Mind" created by Eric Livingston ( / firstchurchofthevoid )
The 11-song release features tracks written by the Eureka, Calif.-born band for their 1986 cassette only demo as well as a reimagined cover of the S.O.D. classic “Hypocrites / Habla Español O Muere” (a.k.a. “Speak English or Die”) and Corrosion of Conformity’s “Loss For Words.” A video for “Raping Your Mind” is available now ( • Mr. Bungle "Raping You... ). The album was produced by Mr. Bungle, recorded by Husky Höskulds at Studio 606, and mixed by Jay Ruston. Rhea Perlman narrates “Anarchy Up Your Anus.”
"Recording THIS music with THESE guys was an enormous head-rush of virtuosity and surprises every day in the studio,” explains Patton. “Trey’s video game-esque solos, Scott’s bionic right hand and cyborg-like precision, Dave’s caveman-meets-Bobby Brady-like drum fills, Trevor’s solid foundation and laser-focus to detail. There is nothing sweeter than getting your ass kicked by true comrades…where everyone has a singular drive and mission.”
Trevor Dunn adds: “Recording this record felt like we were finally utilizing our Ph.Ds in Thrash Metal. All we had to do was go back to our original professors for some additional guidance and talk them into joining us. Turns out we were A+ students. We even went for extra credit by revisiting some tunes that we'd given up on back in the day. It was less like a trip of nostalgia and more like the refining of an original, worthy document. We were haunted for 35 years by the fact that this music wasn't given it's due respect. Now we can die.”
In addition the the standard CD Digipak, the album is available in other limited formats:

Mr. Bungle was formed in an impoverished lumber and fishing town by a trio of curious, volatile teenagers. Trey Spruance, Mike Patton and Trevor Dunn beget the amorphous “band” in 1985 up in Humboldt County, Calif., sifting through a variety of members until around 1989 when they settled on a lineup that managed to get signed to Warner Bros. Records. No one really knows how this happened and it remains a complete mystery that even the algorithms of the internet can’t decode. Up until 2000 they released three albums (Mr. Bungle in 1991, Disco Volante in 1995 and California in 1999), toured a good portion of the Western hemisphere and avoided any sort of critical acclaim. Some argue that the band subsequently broke up but there is also no proof of this. What is true is that they took 20 years off from performing under said moniker while they pursued various other musics that, in contrast, paid the rent.

On behalf of thrash metal fans across the globe. I would like to be amongst the first to congratulate and thank you for simultaneously raising the bar and providing some "Doctorate" level, thrash!

This generic thrash metal period
Former Slayer drumner Dave Lombardo and Scott Ian from Anthrax in the band. No wonder it sounds like thrash track from 1990. Brutally epic..
This takes me back to 87
It was created in the 80s. It's a re-recording
The Brooklyn Brawler?! Oh, wait - that was Steve Lombardi.
*80s
It was written without either you mentioned. I wish it had Danny on it instead of Dave
Reunites after 20 year hiatus - re-records old death metal EP. Doesn’t get more Bungle than that!
@@ZappaVolante that's thrash
@theundeadtalkinghead not really, those are death metal vocals. Anyway, why get pedantic about what kind of metal it is? Lol
I agree this is not a death metal voice.
This is not to be pedantic. You wouldnt call a Bosa Nova a Salsa.
Yeah, I feel trolled, but as Bungle fan I can't really say I'm that surprised that they did this. Anyway, you can't follow up California, so why bother trying? :)
Definitely black metal
How did Dave Lombardo just record the most rippingest thing he's ever recorded, and it wasn't even with Slayer?
Beacause he was Slayer ;-)
Grip Inc.?
Dave was the backbone to Slayer, he set the tempo for their intensity. Once he left they became Slayxodus. Great bands in their own right, but not the best cross-breed.

Exactly.

@@OriginalKingRichTv Tom Araya's voice is never this good
Mr. Bungle IS an actual thrash metal band. Always have been.
@@stacyvanaernem8622 I was going to say something similar, it's probably accurate to say they've always been a thrash metal hybrid. Disco Valante was crash jazz which is thrash metal with jazz, and the Clown album the were a thrash metal + circus music. And for California, the are thrash metal + a different genre for each track, with an overarching California surf cult theme. And then there are elements of everything from chip tunes to show tunes spread out across all of there albums. And that's the best I've ever explained Mr Bungle to anyone, thanks for collaborating with me on this.

Fear is the reason you're going to break down
Your system's infected with hate
Life slowly comes to a halt
The strength in your body begins to dislocate
Eugh!
Pray you don't see me as you turn the corner
Your nerves are beginning to twitch
You'll be my future organ donor
You're paying a price for me, bitch
Open your skull to this throbbing device
Heat fills the core of your spine
Prepare your dead spirits and your rotting flesh
Prepare now I'm raping your mind
Inside of yourself you're falling apart
The sight of my presence stops the blood to your heart
You've lost all protection, you're losing control
I've dulled all your senses and ruined your soul
Down on the ground I've left you so lifeless
Your body will never be the same
And just as the torment corrupts your well being
I'm setting the drill to your brain
Open your skull to this throbbing device
Heat fills the core of your spine
Prepare your dead spirits and your rotting flesh
Prepare now I'm raping your mind
