- In this video, I show the records I bought on a recent trip to Cleveland. I also talk about how Monday is NOT the day to go record store hopping in Cleveland.
Thanks Robert! Great Motorhead...🤘✌️
I agree, they need to release a set that combines Rock-n-Roll Animal with Lou Reed Live. That rendition of Oh Jim is fantastic. OMG, I snorted when you said, "Maybe on a Dolly Parton album."
Dolly Parton really does have a song like that. Lol
That Rosemary's Baby t-shirt is awesome.
Yes!! Love the shirt!!
You know that you're doing something right when you get a 'Damn!' 😋
Blowing through the prerequisites is a Lou Reed standard. I saw him around '86 in Philly touring for his album "Original Rapper". The first part of the show was a so-what blowing through the prerequisites.
The second part was him doing his new album in its entirety. Man, he smoked on songs I never heard before! He saved all his energy for the new stuff.
Needless to say, I became a Lou Reed fan just for his sheer guts on betting everything on his new material.
Thank you for visiting my wonderful city! Hope you had fun!
I can recommend Sam sylk's
Cheers from Madison Ave., Lakewood-ian.
I did, thanks
Love that Motorhead album, sublime.
Really interesting music. Great finds. Cleveland not too far from me. Enjoyed the video.
Thanks!
Very impressed with anyone connected to "Clean Up Woman"... There is no way that I can not dance when that song comes on!
I first heard it in the 90s on one of those Super Soul Hits cds.
@@RobertFithen I probably have about 10 years on you, but I grew up with this music in Boston 🔥
Ian Hunter knows .. Cleveland Rocks 🎸. I spend to much time traveling & have noticed in many cities that independent record stores are like barbershops & closed Sunday & Monday.
A lot of restaurants too, but I've never been anywhere where there are so many closed.
That Motorhead album cover was actually done by Brian Wilson. Little known fact. Absolute genius!
It says it was painted by Joe Petagno
Then Mike Love took credit.
I think it was Joe Petagno
I don't know where you got that 'fact' from or if its some sort of weird in-joke or meme. But Joe Petagno is definitely the artist who did that Orgasmatron cover.
It is in fact a joke. Robert, like myself, feels that the Beach Boys are over rated, especially Brian Wilson and Pet Sounds. My apologies for upsetting you!
Awesome video have a great weekend Robert and also Monday is Thanksgiving in Canada ❤😊
I really wish I could've went with my dad when he went to see Motorhead on that tour. 10 year old me would've been absolutely blown away by that.
I only saw them live on a small second stage in the 90's. I can't believe they were relegated to that. They should have been on the main stage.
I'm sorry we didn't get to hang out while you were here bro
Hello from Lakewood OH. My Minds Eye is on the corner of my street! Cheers!
'sup Lakewood Brotha. Cheers from Madison Ave.
@@patfrat666 Cheers Bro!
Excellent store, mostly because of the new stock. Very friendly people, too.
Some names just don't work. Lol
Mind's Eye is old school. Glad they hooked you up!
Thankfully they were open. lol
Yeah most record shops close on Mondays here in Brisbane, Australia. Restaurants too. I guess its the unofficial weekend for them. Btw some very nice pickups!
Only closed last Monday because of King's birthday. Rocking Horse is open every day, Dutch, Rockaway etc are open everyday too. Hideous Records are closed sunday.
I bought Orgasmatron when it was their brand new album. Same lineup as the 4 'new' songs on No Remorse. Agree the mix is not that great, but the music is good! Dead Set is not exactly the best live Dead there is to offer but it's not bad, makes sense if you already have Reckoning which I happen to like more. Thanks for sharing.
Previously, I had never seen your channel before. Looks like a lot of interesting videos. I just subscribed.
Just picked up Lou Reed Live at my local shop for $8 in VG++, also grabbed Take No Prisoners while I was there. They always seem to have a lot of Lou, living in New York suburb helps for sure. Picked up R&R Animal there last year too. Interesting aside about LR live, Wagner and Hunter are reversed channel wise from R&R Animal.
It's been awhile since I heard "Animal" so I didn't even notice that.
Great finds! Bummer that most of the stores were closed. (Any significance to "Crisis? What Crisis?" sticking out of the assortment of LPs at 1 point?)
Great eye for detail, but there's no significance.
Cool stuff! Will check out the Little Beaver records. I dig his RB playing...wore out a copy of Clean Up Woman working out guitar parts back in the day. Nice shirt, BTW.
Thanks!
First. Great video Robert
Hey Robert. Great pickups. Motorhead! That Little Beaver "Party Down" album is killer! Cheers
I need to get more from Little Beaver now.
I guess nobody thinks about going to the record store until Tuesday.
At the end of the Lou Reed Live album turn it up before the needle lifts. Somebody in the crowd bellows well above the rest of the crowd "Lou Reed Sucks!".
How much did you pay for them ? Would be great to now . Cheers John from Australia
I thought I was the only one who preferred the Grateful Dead studio stuff over live.
Well now there's at least two of us
No one ever yells “Oh Robert” 😂 😂
Cool Rosemary's Baby shirt, where did you get it?
Just searching online.
I too found that little beaver reissue at My minds eye - he must have a stockpile
Shame the only other you could go to was Late Nite. Prices there are just ridiculous
I noticed that.
As far as I know, there has never been a legal physical media release of Rock N' Roll Animal and Lou Reed Live together as one complete concert, but somehow it is right here on RUclips: ruclips.net/video/Cp336aLOuxM/видео.html To my ears, it sounds like it's all of one piece, from the source tape of the actual show and not just all the tracks from the two albums edited together (Lou Reed Live actually has a fairly different sound than Rock N' Roll Animal, as if they were mixed & mastered by two completely different sets of people) but then again, I'm going by what I'm hearing through my crappy computer speakers with my 56 year-old tinnitus-ridden ears. And if you're not crazy about the version of Walk On The Wild Side he does here, try listening to the track by that name on Take No Prisoners: over the course of 17 minutes, he never once comes even close to actually singing the song, instead he tells a long, rambling story of how the song came to be, who the various characters in the song were, and a whole bunch of other stuff that has nothing to do with the song whatsoever. (At one point he declares that he approves of Bruce Springsteen, ...so that's nice).
Record stores are closed on Monday in Utah too. I thought it was a utah thing…
A few here are closed on Monday, but not nearly as many percentage-wise as Cleveland.
Unfortunately, Mondays are often times the much-needed "weekend" for small businesses. Considering you were short on time, looks like a pretty good haul to me! Not sure the other Guncs are gonna be too happy to hear you've been out chasing Beaver!
And got two beavers
I went to school with kid who went out with a girl. They found out they were cousins when she showed up at a family reunion. She was on the side of the family that his parents did not get along with. Then he came to high school talking about it, that was not a good idea. By 2nd semester. He had transferred to another school.
Yeah, I would have kept that to myself. lol
I hope you got to Chris' Warped Records!
I only got to Mind's Eye and Late Night. Everything else was closed
@@RobertFithen it's like that here in Chatsworth, our neighborhood shop Deadly Wax is closed on Monday and this is LA!
MME is a great record store.
Damn!
Lol
I live here, I think they all have day jobs or or something...Maybe that's the day they look for used stuff? Blue Arrow is great, all used stuff, but only open a few days.
That's the one I really wanted to check out, with the covers on the floor and the cats.
Dig the tee!
I wonder how many get the reference
I guess the record stores in Cleveland are like a lot of restaurants who are closed Sunday and Monday in my area! Enjoyed your Hall Of Fame video even though the music awards every year are turning into a joke The museum is fantastic with all the memorabilia Need to get out there!!
Thanks! I've thought awards were a joke for decades. I've never cared about them.
Love the Rosemary's Baby shirt!
Dick Wagner, Steve hunter are on Alice cooper show live. They're the best part, Alice sounds drunk. Music is great, Alice sucks
Yeah i like it its a true live album not live in the studio
I noticed that, too
Should have gone.to record den in mentor ohio. Not far from cleveland.
It’s like 45 mins away!
@md Only 20-25 minutes from downtown on Rt. 2 to Rt. 306…
Counting Crows do my favorite version of Friend of the Devil
Outrageous
